Stayed one night in a king suite room and had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The suite was stunning and consisted of 2 rooms: lounge, kitchenette, fireplace, access to private courtyard and then the bedroom, also with access to the courtyard plus spacious bathroom with spa. The largest 'room' in a hotel we have ever had. Vaulted ceilings and large sliding doors added to the feeling of grandeur. Very quiet! Good sized pool and beautiful mature gardens. Walking around the hotel grounds there are many seating areas. The restaurant is very good and serves a two or three course menu for dinner and buffet for breakfast. There is also out door eating in the gardens but the day we had breakfast the flies were very annoying. Excellent service throughout this hotel. Not the first time we have stayed and definitely not the last.

Amazing time!

We loved it. Specially the skyview from the bathtub was one of the high-lights of our stay. The staff were very helpful. Thank you team Mercure Hunter Valley.

Well located, friendly staff, but could do with an Uplift

The resort is perfectly located if you're looking to stay close to the Hunter Gardens. The staff are all exceptionally helpful and friendly, at Reception, the Restaurant & the Bar. Second to none! The upkeep of the lawns & gardens is IMMACUATE.... However sadly the rooms are quite run down, dated (compared to most) and not worth the money in comparison to other places anymore. I've stayed here a few times over the last 10 years and can honestly say NOTHING in the rooms has been updated or maintained in that time. This time around we found the rooms to be stuffy & smelly upon check in (some air freshener wouldnt go astray), MDF panelling in parts of the bathrooms around the mirrors were bubbling and expanded. Mini Bar facilities were very limited with just a packet of 2 small cookies and a small long life milk. There was a kettle and coffee sachets - but not a single teaspoon to stir the coffee / tea. And the outdoor balcony furniture and floor was very dirty - not sure if this outdoor area is included in the daily room cleaning process? But it definitely was not the case in the 2 rooms we had. We spent some time at the pool which was lovely enough. But when walking back past the restaurant / bar past the outdoor tables - we noticed numerous tables that had empty bottles, glasses and plates still sitting there which we had seen 3 hours earlier. I understand people are understaffed at times - but I also thing 3 hrs is sufficient timing for someone to walk past and collect any dirty glassess & dishes off a table. All in all I think this institution still has plenty of character but with a bit more love and care & attention to detail it would make the stay more pleasant and worth the money.

Well located.
