Girls: be careful with some of the staff

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

871kyah Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

me and my friends stayed here on the 27th of Jan and due to us locking our key card in our room we went to requested a new one from reception. 3 men were intimidating me and my friend making us feel uncomfortable and saying inappropriate things asking where exactly we live and our full names. they also told us they can come open the door for us but we refused as we didn’t feel safe. our key card then only worked once and stopped working so we went back down with one of our boyfriends and he seemed annoyed that we had noticed the key was no longer working but didn’t say anything as my boyfriend was there. didn’t sleep all night as we were worried knowing they could easily get into our room. just thought other girls should be aware before staying as it was really uncomfortable for us.

The staff are always so welcoming which is always a good start. Check in was easy, I did most before my trip online, and the room was really clean. The rooms are a little tired in places but this does not stop this being a great budget hotel just something that needs addressing in the coming months - it won’t stop me staying again in the future.

Overpriced without the basics

TripAdvisor rating 2.0/5

Climber64859552148 Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

For a budget hotel it’s fine, but I paid £120 for one night and when I looked for the following day the price had dropped to £42. I wouldn’t mind paying £42 as it was basic but £120 is a rip off. Staff aren’t the friendliest and don’t even smile when you check in you feel like a bit of a pain. The smallest bit of thin toilet roll when we arrived and not even tea and coffee in the room. I’ve stayed at an ibis in Manchester before and it was lovely for a good price but this hotel was not as nice it was more like a hospital room. The room was freezing and there was a plug in heater in the room which shouldn’t be necessary for the price, it should be a warm room. The shower doesn’t adjust so the bathroom was a full on puddle after a shower and the bathroom had a bad smell of dirty drains. £42? Yes, £120? Absolutely not, I feel ripped off that we didn’t even get the basics.
