« Great setting . Very friendly colleagues »

Great location , nice setting. Staff were very friendly at all times of day . Very attentive and always available. I would definitely stay here again. we had 2 separate days bookings and they were happy to let us stay in the same room, not have to change rooms each day. The room was lovely and warm and apart from storm Ciara there very little noise.

« Ok value for money »

Staff were lovely, the room was the hottest room (71) in the world. Unfortunately, whilst our window had a handle, it had no locking device. We found this out during the night during a storm and high winds and so struggled to sleep for most of the night. Breakfast was nice.

Difficulty finding the hotel on the first night, wasn't well lit. radiator in bathroom didn't work and shower was slow. Room was very dated and felt shabby. Stench of sick for last 3 days near our room which was poor. The staff were very nice.

« Neither good or bad - pretty meh.... »

Check in was super easy, the room was easy to find. The room was a really good size, unfortunately that’s where the positives end - no net curtains on the windows which meant that there was no privacy unless you shut out all natural light to the room, the mattress was incredibly soft, the bed was to small for the fixed bedside tables which meant the risk of falling out of bed reaching for a drink was quite high! The towels were tiny, more akin to hand towels than for use on the body. Given the proximity to other hotels in the area I would be unlikely to stay here again.

« Expect better at a Mercure »

Very disappointed with our stay at the Mercure Letchworth Hall. Room 18 First of all the signage was very poor, no proper directions to the hotel reception The sink did not empty, and remained full of dirty water for hours. The shower attachment was broken, so the shower could not be put on the lower setting Towels supplied were disgusting, all very grey and 2 had large amounts of make up on. TV remote did not work. The siting of the toilet was too close to the sink, I damaged my hip getting off the loo, a larger person would find it impossible to sit on the loo. Trim coming off the wall, exposing wires. Hole in the wall with cables going in. We have stayed in many Accor/Mercure Hotels all over the world, this was by far our worst experience. Would never return to this Hotel.

Nice clean Modern room but lacking in a bright light. Check in quick but took a while to find reception. Fitness centre well displayed, just like restaurant, but hotel entrance not obvious.

« Lovely Stat »

Letchworth is a lovely place and the hotel was very nice, clean and spacious. Rooms were big and the gardens looked well looked after but it was a little too cold to walk around. Very relaxing and breakfast was just amazing , also all the staff were extremely friendly.

« Fantastic service »

The hotel is beautiful, very well maintained and situated. Facilities are brilliant. However, the hotel is made excellent by its staff. Every single member of staff were helpful, cheerful, friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. I have rarely received such amazing service from every single person. They definitely made the stay first class.

Room was dated, needed re decoration. Was freezing cold no heating on had to turn radiator right up. Was on room on ground floor in corridor next to door. Every time someone went through the door the whole room shook. Worst nights sleep ever!

« Fantastic friendly Hotel »

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff for making my stays at the hotel very pleasant and encourages me to make sure I stay at the Letchworth. Everyone deserves a thank you but the two people who deserve recognition are Laura and Kelsey on reception. It is great to be greeted by a warm smile. I have been there when the odd obnoxious guest has been mouthing off at reception but they have been professional and polite in defusing the situation.

« Good Stay and overall all value for money »

Positive. I arrived very late but still the reception was very helpful. The facilities are excellent and although the hotel is dated the fact that a spa facility can be used by the residence, it makes up for the aging of the hotel. I highly recommend the hotel for families.

Firstly may I say that the staff could not have been nicer. The bed was comfortable and the food was good. The room was tired however. The heated towel rail didn't work, the radiator was cold in the bathroom. The shaver mirror was missing and the light above the mirror in the bedroom didn't work. My sister did not have a radiator in her family room and they slept in their cardigans as they were cold in the night. Her heated towel rail also did not work, or the light above the mirror. I ordered a wake up call for 8.00am. It never came and the phone kept out cutting out as I tried to call reception to order the alarm call. The major probkem we had was that we were there with my 12 year old neice and had booked this hotel as it had a pool. Apparently in your T&C 's it says that restrictions apply to children using the pool, but this was not clear when I booked the room and it was not brought to my attention when we spoke to the hotel staff when asking for directions to the pool. My neice decided not to swim on the first day of our arrival and sat quietly in the corner. This was 6.45pm. We were told by a staff member at the pool that she could not stay in the pool area and would need to sit outside in reception . We explained she was only just 12 and could not stay on her own outside the pool area. We were then told she shouldn't be there as children were not allowed at that time. We explained we were hotel guests but was told to come back after 12 noon the next day. We were due to check out by 12 noon. We asked if we could finish our swim then leave, we were told rules are rules and my neice would need to leave immediately. We therefore left and did not return. You should not be advertising this hotel with a pool or make it clear it is not your pool but a nutfield health pool with restrictions for hotel guests. This put a damper on the whole experience. Based on our experiences we will not return to this hotel.

« Major disappointment given the recommendations received. »

The experience was terrible. For a special weekend I called head of our stay to order a bottle of bubbles to be placed in the room upon arrival. This did not happen. We were informed as a 'Gold Member' we had been given an upgrade to a suite. The suite was no more than a two bed-roomed apartment possibly used as staff quarters? Non of the telephones worked, there was no information relating to the hotel (including health & safety evacuation procedures) , the bathroom fittings did not work, the television in the main bedroom did not work and there were no bedside lights. This whilst seems unimportant when reading on an evening is quite a challenge with overhead spotlights! I can only describe the accommodation as 'work in progress'. So without telephones no communication could be made to the management, I had to go downstairs to reception to complain and make them aware that no bubbles were in the room! The overall place was shabby which is a pity because the building itself is situated in a pretty location and has history. Dinner was fine, average, but upon ordering a bottle of wine from the menu at 20 pounds, upon checkout the next day suddenly became 35 pounds! And no bill was provided. Overall a major disappointment.

A tired hotel much in need of an overhaul but nevertheless comfortable and blessed with amazing staff who were friendly and attentive. Very dog friendly (apart from the absence of an outside dog waste bin).
