Absolutely delightful. Welcoming staff. An overlay wonderful stay… would entirely recommend to anyone that is contemplating going. Should be a 5 star hotel. Cleaning perfect, food just as good, service brilliant, the rooms are deluxe & I shall be returning back for a few more days. That’s how much I enjoyed my stay! Thank you George Washington for an amazing birthday stay.

They gave me a room that was not cleaned after the departure of the previous guest, then proceeded allocating me to 4 different rooms which are filthy- strands of hair still present on the bedsheets, toilet bowl and sink. In the end, I got sick of going up and down to the reception so many times and met them halfway by settling for a room without strands of hair on the bedsheets (at least), but there’s still hair on the sink and toilet bowl. I was made to understand they are short staffed due to covid hence I specifically request the toilet to be cleaned later that day since there is a maid coming in at 6pm- but the request was not fulfilled, not even a knock on the door. Worst thing is, after room service the next day, the strand of hair behind the toilet bowl is still there! And they pride themselves to be a 4-star hotel! The hygiene standard is appalling and needs to be seriously reviewed. I never felt so grossed out in a 4-star hotel in my years of travelling and don’t see the value staying here. Not to mention the noise insulation is horrible. I can hear people passing by my room and it is very disturbing. The picture shown on the website is also very different from the room I got. After all these, all I get is a voucher for drinks, which I don’t even think is equal to the dissatisfaction I have towards this hotel

Lovely relaxed stay. Rooms very comfortable and clean and breakfast very nice. The gardens and grounds look well kept. All staff pleasant. Overall it might be 3* but this hotel is far better than most 4* hotels I have stayed in.

Can’t fault hotel itself…. I was staying for a wedding which was at 5 pm the reason I booked was so I could get ready there but as a 3 o clock check in….the room was nt ready till 3 45 then had time go back to reception as was only one towel… paid £80 which included breakfast only to be told on the morning that I hadn’t paid for it as all the wedding party paid the same and breakfast was included….they did let us in eventually…..then went for my breakfast no FRIED EGGS the girl I asked about them she just said non ready at the moment..

I wish to make a formal complaint against the George Washington Hotel for the calamity of events which took place from checking in to checking out of the hotel, not to mention the problems when booking the stay. Initially when the booking was made on 27th February, for eight persons, I was informed by a male receptionist that the room booking cost £90 A ROOM AND NOT PER PERSON.I emailed on 14 March at 11.46 am and asked what time we should check in and what time dinner was.  The response I received back was check in at 15:00 pm with treatments at 3pm x 2 and 3.30 x 2.  FOUR PEOPLE?  I BOOKED FOR 8 PEOPLE?I replied back to inform Samantha McCabe that an error had been made and that I had twice given the names of the 8 guests.Then I received diary confirmations that 16:00 x 2 and 16:30 x 2 spa bookings had been added to my booking which was fine and that dinner was booked in the restaurant at 18.00 pm.I then received an email on 24 March, 2022 stating that there were no longer 15.00 appointments but that they were now 17:00 and the 15:30 appointments were now 17:30 and then received another email stating that a beauty therapist had left so could we start the treatments at 14:00!!Talk about confused.com and relaying all these changes to 7 ladies!I asked for dinner to change  from 18:00  to 18:30. I have a text message confirming this had been done.A colleague tested positive for Covid and was unable to join us so I contacted your reception team by telephone to inform them and was advised that three of us could go into a family room so there was no problem.  However when I rang back in the evening I was informed all the family rooms had gone but my friend could stay where she was without paying a supplement because of the way we had been messed around. Upon arrival we were met by a Receptionist who had the charm of a rottweiler.  Initially we were ignored whilst she helped her colleague on the computer.  Then without any greeting to the hotel began talking 'AT' us, stating we were late and should hurry round to the spa.  Her tone was appalling and unfriendly.  The girl either needs to work elsewhere or be trained in Customer Service.  We were informed the POOL WAS CLOSED and as this was part of our planning for the stay we were most disappointed.to say the least! My friend turned up to  book in the single room and was then asked to pay for the full room, including the supplement.  I had to have a discussion with the lovely receptionist that this was not the case and were notes not left on the system from my previous conversation with reception staff?  My friend went to her room and no bottle of prosecco had been left so once again reception was contacted and we were questioned as she assured us each room had been left with a bottle.  The investigation carried on to involve the housemaid as to where the bottle was?   No answer was given to us? After the calamity of checking in we were advised to go round to get our beauty treatments to which three of the girls opted for a m..  Therapist replied ' you can't have that as it takes too long'.  But it is on your advert my friend replied and showed her the Pizza/Prosecco offer... It was a definite no from the beauty therapist...and reiterated it took too long?   After treatments we went for dinner which was fine, then asked where the bar was.  Then the bombshell news was given to us by the waitress that there was NO BAR and that we could go over the road to the pub if we wanted an alcoholic drink.  NO BAR as there was a wedding party in!!!   I have never in all my years of travelling been to a hotel with no bar!!  Fed up of the day I went to bed hoping the next day would be better. Sunday morning, down to breakfast feeling very hungry...  PLATES THE SIZE OF SIDE PLATES were given to us.  I thought it was for toast but NO it was for your English Breakfast or maybe one sausage and an egg.   Again I have never been given a side plate to eat breakfast from.  ARE YOU ATTEMPTING TO MAKE YOUR GUESTS SLIMMER?  MY GOD I'd had enough and wanted to go home and get out of the place now.  We had all had enough of nothing but a shambolic experience.   Whilst checking out my friend was once again asked to pay the room supplement from another receptionist but refused to.  Whilst sitting a French lady was complaining about the pool being out of order and that you had spoiled her stay as she had arranged to have her child put in the creche which you had closed too without any communication.  I understand the lady was sent to another hotel with a swimming pool and creche facilities!  So it wasn't just my party that were disadvantaged and unhappy! I would never recommend staying at the George Washington Hotel to anyone.  It was a total shambles that could have been avoided if your team communicated effectively and you ensured that normal services such as a bar and swimming pool were available for guests to use and that your advertising campaigns matched the reality of what guests really receive.  The advert you placed on social media is classed as false advertising and could get the hotel group into trouble! I paid for breakfast in advance and went to ha e breakfast and someone checked my room number and let me in. While I was having breakfast, a different lady came in and asked me again if my room number was verified. I found that very disrespectful and rude since I know how it works and I already gave my room number when I was let into the breakfast lounge. To my knowledge, She did not ask that question to other people having breakfast in the lounge. I would not like to stay at this place again given that experience.

The shower screen was broken and injured me. No use of the pool Rooms were joined and we could everything next door as if we were in the same room. No compensation or good will gesture given for the injury etc

We checked-in on Friday 8th April and were allocated room No. 419. At about 1 am until 2. am a gentleman was banging on the door opposite to us, which I think was room 410, demanding to be let in. In the absence of a response he then used his mobile phone, still without any further response. At 3 am he returned and continued banging on several doors until eventually some let him in at about 5.30 in the morning. However, Saturday night far more sedate.

We stayed here for a mini break/honeymoon after just been married room was beautiful but could of been cleaner bathroom had a very nasty smell I did phone front desk and was offers a air freshener also robs and slippers when not I rooms as of staff been of due to covid which can't be helped but should not affect people's stays
