« Classy hotel but lighting a real problem »

Plenty of good things, helpful staff, comfortable, quiet, nice range at breakfast but the rooms were really dark - about 10 different lights -bedside, ceiling, lamps etc - even with them all on I couldn't really read in comfort. Most switches and kettle etc were at floor level. Designed by somebody very young, I suspect, with no troublesome knees! And the piece of carpet shaped like a tiger skin, what were they thinking? I would book elsewhere another time.

Staff are very obliging and our room was upgraded to a grand deluxe. The room was spacious and very comfortable and well decorated. Restaurant food and service was extremely good. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone staying in Hanoi.

« Dark room, good breakfast, decent location »

The room we stayed in was on the back part of second floor. It had almost no natural light. It looked out on a large air shaft and it was decorated in dark colors. If you are going to use dark colors you need to have plenty of natural light. The breakfast was very good as was the location. Perhaps, if we had been on a higher floor with more light, our stay would have been better.

« Good Location, Substandard Service, Does Not Commensurate a 5 Star Hotel & Pricing »

Good location. But all positive ends there. The breakfast menu was substandard, not of a 5 star hotel. The same menu for the 6 days we were there. Housekeeping had to be reminded over and over again to empty the trash, replenish our toiletries etc... The GM was present during most days but never acknowledged the guests. The room lighting was dim and lacked sufficient lighting. One of our rooms had a nail stuck in it to prevent the windows from further opening. The Hotel on its own is charming, but the people working there lack customer relationship and finesse. Our last stay in this hotel, we'll be putting up at the Metropole the next time we're in Hanoi

Besides a fairly comprehensive buffet area, of which many items are rotated daily, we also have a live cooking station for egg dishes and Vietnamese speciality breakfast items, on top of this we offer a full a la carte menu, which features many luxury items, which come freshly prepared to order from our kitchens. Quality products are exclusively sourced from reputable suppliers, many of them imported. I am not sure I fully understand your comment about our room refreshment, please allow me to advise that our standard is to conduct room daily refreshment once in the morning and a turn-down service in the evening. Unreserved apologies that I might not have acknowledged you during the breakfast as I usually wish for my guests to enjoy breakfast privately without being disturbed in the morning time. Mr. N., please accept me sincere apologies for these shortcomings, there were indeed some important lesson for us to be learned. We have been traveling to Vietnam for over 10 years and have never had a more disappointing and frustrating stay. The staff was rude, combative and ill-informed. The room was musty and not user friendly.

Unreserved apologies for the unfriendly service you experienced from our reception team, which is clearly unacceptable - if a little out of character considering the fact that we normally get very positive feedback about the team’s general friendliness and helpfulness. We have already shared your comments with the team and will address this point in particular during forthcoming trainings. I fully understand how disappointed you felt for not receiving effective information about finding a pharmacy, however I hope for your understanding that since the end of December 2019 up until currently, the whole region has been suffering the Coronavirus spreads. Due to this fact, for the continued safety and well-being of our guests, we are trying to ensure that all practices meet latest medical guidances, including guiding our guest to qualified medical clinics, not private pharmacies that we normally can find on the street. Unfortunately, we failed in this case. With regards to your comment about the room, allow me to share with you that we are currently working on a refurbishment plan for the Hotel and hope that we can implement as quickly as possible. In the meantime I will ensure that our Engineering and Housekeeping teams do a better job in conducting regular maintenance and cleaning the rooms. « Nice room, good location. »

The room was nice, which was to be expected from MGallery. The view wasn’t so great from my particular room, but oh well. The gym was substandard. Tiny and arranged by someone who doesn’t know much or care much about fitness, it would seem. Overall, the staff was friendly and professional, but there were some amateurish moments. For example, my girlfriend and I checked in, together, and I go upstairs to the room to discover that the rep gave us one key. Wth? Why would two people want to share one key? Amateur hour. At least ask. The room was booked for a week for two people. Pretty dumb. There was a disconnect between the people working in the dining room and the people working the front desk, and this had an annoying outcome. We were told that the breakfasts were two for one. We go to the restaurant and mention this, and they say yes, two for one. It’s a special they’re running. I then get the bill and it doesn’t look right, and my Vietnamese girlfriend confirms this. And this same person who had just told me that indeed, two for one, charged me full price. When we asked about this, the girl working in the dining room said we would need to go through the front desk for the deal. It was eventually straightened out, and no big deal, but if we hadn’t caught it, it seems like we would’ve been paying full price. Let’s just get everyone on the same page. The taxi driver they booked me tried to rip me off, so don’t assume you’re good to go because they ordered you the taxi. The food was really good (ate local food most of my trip, but woke up early, and it was also Tet, so some things were closed...and the international breakfast was solid, for sure). The location was really nice. And the bed was lovely.

« Very Good Hotel In An Excellent Location »

The hotel is located in the centre of Hanoi - just across the road from Opera House and the ‘Hanoi Hilton’. There are many restaurants, art galleries and restaurants in the area and the lake is just up the road. Quite a few of the major sights of Hanoi are within walking distance. The hotel has a colonial style and the rooms are quite large and very nicely furnished. The restaurant is very good for both breakfast and dinner. The staff are extremely friendly and most helpful. The hotel has a pick up service which is a great way to get in from the airport.

« Perfect location and a superb hotel »

Honestly, this was one of my best hotel experiences, and I travel a lot! The hotel is very well located, right in the middle of the French quarters so it is easy to get around. The hotel itself is superbly decorated, the beds incredibly comfortable, and the breakfast buffet is to die for. Best eggs Benedict ever! The staff are all extremely kind, courteous, and helpful. If I am ever back in Hanoi, this is where I will be staying. An A+ all around!
