We have stayed here 3 times before and always had good experience unfortunately this time it wasn't up to standard The 1st room we had was dirty with stains on the carpet, bathroom dirty and rusty After being given another room which was a little better but was extremely hot and the windows had screws in so you could only open them an inch. The breakfast was average coffee terrible out of a machine. The staff ordered us a taxi which after 20 minutes hadn't arrived so another one had to be booked

This visit was a great improvement on last time. The last time was in September 2021 and the hotel was in a mess. Hotel is a lot cleaner and the service has also improved. Overall I'm happy that The Dolphin Hotel is back to where it used to be

Check in took ages and there were 2 separate bookings (neither right),this was due to being moved to Novetel because the Dolphin had a corporate booking but a couple of weeks before date, we received another email saying there had been a change of plan and we were rebooked. back into the Dolphin. Decor is looking tired (obvious that there is ongoing work). Staff were friendly and helpful. Booked a cruise package and hotel arranged pick up and collection which were very good and went well. Location is good and room was clean and quiet.

The stay was good however Front door stiff, I could hear mice running up and down the cavity wall Flush on the toilet faulty No hot water in the sink - shower was good apart from the door was off it's rollers

We arrived at 2pm and was able to check in. I asked for rooms near each other. Staff was able to fulfill our request with rooms next to each other. We felt the rooms were a little dated and need some refreshing. Front desk staff was very nice. Location was right in the city and very convenient.

Separate from the hotel near the car park on ground floor - unfortunately i didnt feel safe as a woman travelling alone in a ground floor room when i couldnt lock the door from the inside...I didnt ask to chwange as thought I would leave a chair in front of the door. The bathroom was the best thing about the downstairs room I was in - v clean and modern Durting the night from 2330 onwards there was a scratching or creaking that sounded as if there were rats in the walls. I had 0 sleep and will not be staying again thank you anyway

On arrival we checked in and due to my personal circumstances changing I had to bunk in with my mate whilst his wife and her friend tool the Accure room. Having been given room 201 it would have been helpful had the receptionist told us there was a lift just around the corner instead of sending us up the stairs. Other than that we didn't really use the hotel bar so I won't comment. The hotel itself was ideally placed for our visit to attend a Fish gig at the 1865 club and with the "Spoons" practically Nextdoor and the Indian across the road all our needs were met.

The room we were in needed updating badly. We were also told we had to move to another hotel as the Dolphin was closing for 3 months due to the fact it was housing immigrants so found this both disgusting and inconvenient.

Disappointing

A group of 9 of us booked in for 2 nights, travelling from different parts of the Country, to attend a Memorial Service at the Fepow Memorial on one day and the funeral of a friend the next day. We woke up after the first night to find a note under the doors telling us that we would be moved to another hotel for the next night. We were later told this was bcause there were 300 Afghan refugees coming into the hotel and they needed our rooms !!!! Needless to say we were not pleased with the hassle of repacking etc. We understand the need for accommodation for these people but why book us in when this was going to happen??
