Pleasant stay, comfortable and clean Would have been 'extremely satisfied' had not been for two items: 1. No provision made for vegan at breakfast; a lot of what is on offer is fine but there was no butter substitute (pretty basic item to provide at breakfast with all that toast flying around) 2. Gym facilities and pool were excellent but the pool would have benefited from being a couple of degrees warmer (especially as the jacuzzi is the same temperature as the pool, so too cold to relax in)

We were so impressed by our amazing welcome from Ellison, he was so warm and very kindly called the room after we arrived to check all was okay. The room itself was fantastic, amazing view of the Shard from the balcony, music speaker was a nice touch and great shower. The breakfast was lovely and offered a wide selection of food. Overall, a wonderful experience and would definitely return!

Some of the staff members were friendly, but the room cleaning service was not daily and poor, my stay was four days and in none of them clean the carpet or the bathroom floor. On my last stay day I had a working breakfast and my guest had to request the change of breakfast eggs because the taste was unpleasant and they looked greenish and like a not fresh food. I made the report to the waiter and the reception expecting an apology and the refund of the money paid for the guest's breakfast, but I had nothing. In the pool area, although the hotel does not have lifeguards, it does have surveillance cameras and it could be more careful with the use of this area by children, since although it is announced that it is not possible to jump, the children who are not being cared for nobody do ignored and do not allow others the proper use of this area.

a very nice stay overall just a few things that would make it better friendlier receptionists. there were two who were very attentive, however, one was not so friendly. still water in our rooms would have been good. we only had sparkling water which we don't drink. we did ask but this did not materialise. we also asked for a phone call if a space was available in the pool and this did not happen also. we went to look at the pool capacity and found only a family of four were using it so we could have also used this. the kids were disappointed as they were looking forward to it.

Hotel is in great location for sight seeing with the family, breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Staff were fantastic when we asked for some extras for the room, loved having the mini fridge and safe. The down side to our room was the bathroom -whenever the light was put on it illuminated the whole bedroom which is not ideal during the night , a curtain would be ideal to help solve this problem to give guests the choice as to how much light they want during the evening/night. We used the pool but it was cold so I sat at the side -plenty of seating which was good. Overall a great stay with the family.

Lovely stay

The hotel is lovely and the staff so very friendly and helpful. Our executive room was very clean and well presented. It was my husband’s birthday so they decorated it with a birthday package I bought. It included balloons, strawberries in choc and Prosecco which was delicious. The swimming pool was nice and clean, but the water was a bit cold. Sauna was fantastic. The only moan was no water machine to get a drink and no beds by the pool. There were a few chairs and tables. We didn’t eat in the restaurant, so can’t comment. We’d highly recommend this hotel. It’s a short walk from Black Friars.

Rooms good - however staff did not take issues seriously at all

Adjoining rooms were great however, rooms were both really cold at night and despite putting the temperature up before bedtime, it didn't seem to work. Complained at front desk morning - staff really didn't care. Also raised the issue that the swimming pool was freezing - got some ridiculous story that kept getting changed - first it was apparently at 33 degrees, then when they rang down to the pool it was 29 and that was right too. When I mentioned other reviewers had also said how cold it was - there was then an issue that if they put the heater any higher the condensation would cause the system to break. Frankly when an issue is raised it should be taken seriously - we were fobbed off - the excuses weren't even plausible.

In regards of the temperature of the room normally you can set it up to 26 degrees maximum. Anything higher than that might compromise the unit. For the swimming we are required by law to maintain the temperature between 28-30 degrees. Anything higher or lower than those values might compromise the whole backwash system of the pool and also the levels of the PH and chlorine. We had a lovely stay with our family just here. Our expectations were met by a very welcoming and polite staff, clean hotel areas, room and the swimming pool area. Breakfast was also very good with lots of choices - the only negative oil I would raise is that all the customers were cutting their bread with the same knife - some holding the bread with a napkin...some not...Otherwise all was very well organised and felt safe. We will certainly be back. Thank you!

The location of the hotel brilliant. It’s right next to Southwark station and Blackfriars station. Nice location for a nice walk along Bankside, London Bridge and St Paul Cathedral.

Considering the difficulty of the current climate the staff in all areas did a good job in making our stay a good one. On arrival we found reception staff to be first class (personable and efficient). The room was precisely as expected. There were good hygiene standards in place.

My family and I spent 2amazing night for Christmas 2022 ,which we never forget Christmas dinner was so good and I will come back in definite. Pool was so clean and beautiful. Staff couldn’t be more friendly .

We stayed one night in this hotel in November 2021. We had booked a balcony room and it was fantastic. Our room/balcony was directly opposite the Shard and other major London landmarks could be seen. The room was fairly spacious and well appointed. Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities. The bed was very comfortable. Importantly the room was very clean. Hand sanitisers were dotted around the hotel. Our package included breakfast which was very good. You could choose full English style or continental. The choice was yours. We arrived back at the hotel after the bar had closed (11pm) but managed to get room service very quickly. Check in was very fast most having been done online. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely use this hotel again on our next trip into London. The hotel is less than a 3 minute walk from Southwark underground station Thank you Novotel Blackfriars for a lovely stay.

This is hotel that I return to time and again. I’ve stayed as a couple and I’ve stayed here alone and I cannot speak highly enough of the place. The check in and check out are the easiest I have known. The burgers served in the bar are beautiful. The pool facilities are easy to use and a pleasure to visit. The location is central for everything I need, it’s an easy walk to London Bridge or along the South Bank to the heart of theatreland. I was a particular idiot on this trip, forgetting a phone charger, but the reception staff were happy to point out a local shop where I was able to literally recharge my battery! The rooms are clean, the bed offers a perfect night of sleep and the shower is marvellous. Whether location, staff or facilities, this place ticks all the boxes for me.

I went to spend a romantic weekend with my partner and I paid £35 to have some romanticism in the bedroom and we had 2 balloons few rose petals and a piece of cheesecake, no even 2...but is alright. Then the fridge didn't work,just water ,no mini bar, safety box also didn't work so they send the maintenance guy to open it but fridge all weekend broken. Next morning again maintenance guy because safety box didn't open now! When we came back in the evening our surprise was the room wasn't clean and also we discovered tv also didn't work!! The ingeniere came and couldn't fix because was a long term problem...that was the cherry on the cake... nothing worked and after few discussions with the manager didn't even offered a room upgrade they would refund 50%... still ridiculous the way this big chain deals with it. We were paying more than £400 for 2 night and was awful no even body lotion in the toilet. The manager actitud was so inappropriate and ridiculous like if was our fault the things didn't work in that room. We couldn't even use the pool because is so small and with covid you need slot of time to go. We will never go back, definitely not a 4* hotel

Good trip apart from the breakfast which is not particularly good and seemed a bit hectic. The staff put pressure on me to leave the breakfast area 10 minutes before it officially finished just so they could start cleaning.

The hotel was clean and friendy staff. Helpful and service minded. The breakfast and bar was average, though we had excellent service by the kitchen staff for my children. The style of the bar and the style of the reception was a bit off putting, would preferred if it was more intimate and relaxing. The music was bit loud. The pool area was good, clean towels and nice sauna. Wished there was bath robes and slippers for free, since the hotel is quite pricy.
