I have stayed at Ibis hotels many times, and this one was up to the usual standard. Pleasant staff, comfortable room with all the essentials (such as hairdryer and kettle!). Great choice at breakfast.

Excellent value in central location for the budget minded

The Ibis Blackfriar is well located in central London, walking distance to 3 Tube entrances. The rooms are simple, clean but small. This hotel is an excellent choice for the budget traveller. I found the self serve breakfast tasty with a wide range of options. What stood out for me was the personal service from the front desk staff who helped me with taxis and directions. Unfortunately there was spotty wi-fi service during my stay, but this was not the hotel's fault as the service was down on the entire block.

Hotel gone downhill since we last stayed. Check in v slow, too many guests waiting. 2 staff more interested in giving people directions and recommendations than checking people in.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 weeks and enjoyed my time there. Breakfast good. Staff helpful. Room adequate. The hotel is conveniently located near to Southwark Underground station.

The stay is consistently good. The hotel is clean and fresh. Breakfast is easy and good quality. Check-in is smart and efficient. The wifi was not working - it would connect but no Internet access on floor 10 I was assured at check-in, that an invoice would be emailed immediately after checkout. 3 days and 3 emails later and no invoice. The contact phone number will not connect.

The room is tidy and clean, quiet, personnel is friendly. But I was there for work and WIFI was down for my whole stay. The personnel offered breakfast which nice of them, but you really need to fix the network issues and get a more resilient infrastructure, or a backup solution (4G card etc.) for clients who really need it. If I had been on vacation it would have been ok but not on a business trip.

The hotel was in a brilliant location at a decent price for where it is (20-minute riverside walk to the west end). The food and drink on offer was excellent quality and reasonably priced (it is London after all but didn't feel much different to our local prices). The room itself was standard ibis layout and has everything you'd' need for a comfortable stay and can't fault that. The jewel in the crown for our stay was Ana on the front desk - her dedication to great customer service was second to none and She is an asset to the place!

The hotel is very well located, it’s close to the tube and walking distance from some of the attractions. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean.

There was construction in the next room which made it impossible to hear anything over the noise. Could not conduct any of my meetings properly- had to sit on the toilet cover in the bathroom with the bathroom door closed because that’s the only way I could hear over the phone. To conduct meetings over 5 hours in a closed confined space is completely inappropriate. When I complained they told me they were fully booked and that I should be glad it was only from 11-5pm. Walls are also paper thin- could hear guests and construction workers talking outside the room. No soap in the shower dispenser.

A bit tired, service could be better

The hotel is a few years old now and looks a bit tired. However, OK for basic hotel. Normally you'd expect a very good hotel for £135 per night, but I guess this is London's ridiculous rates. Service 1) we arrived about 1hr 45mins before check-in. Rooms were available but we were told we would have to pay £10 early check-in charge for each room. We declined (Motel One a month ago gave us early check in at 10am). If Ibis wants to win customers back then this mean spirited treatment of customers isn't the way to go. 2) I came back at about 5.30pm to check in. My wife and daughter were still out shopping and the assistant on check-in said that I would have to come down to let my wife and daughter in if I took all the keys (can't see why my wife and daughter couldn't have just come straight to the room?). Anyway I agreed to take only one key for one of the rooms and that my wife and daughter would collect the other key when they arrived. However, on arrival, they were told that no more keys would be issued because I already had two keys for one room and one key for the other. Don't know whether this was incompetence or deliberate, but it left an unpleasant feeling. The hotel is conveniently located if you want a basic hotel and don't care about service.
