« Warm and noisy »

We unfortunately didn't enjoy our stay. We know that city centre noise on a Friday and Saturday night is inevitable but the bass from the music in the bar downstairs was too much and continued into the early hours, we all suffered broken sleep, especially my youngest son. The ear plugs provided are not suitable for everyone. Also the room was a bit cosy for the 4 of us and despite having the air con on remained hot all the time. We did expect more as we had paid for a privilege room. The hotel was nice and well presented with welcoming staff and we did enjoy the breakfast, although there was no pastries available the first morning.

« The Best Centrally Located Hotel »

The Mercure Nottingham City Centre is my hotel of choice whenever I’m visiting. It is ideally located near all the bars and restaurants, as well as being close by the tram stop & railway station. The hotel is full of charm and character, with tastefully decorated cosy rooms. Check in is always efficient and taken care of by attentive staff. The bar is well stocked, and the restaurant serves some really nice food, be it breakfast or dinner. The hotel is virtually faultless, and I can not recommend it enough for either business or pleasure stays.

« A mixed bag »

Good hotel which I'd stayed in before, however, this time I had a Standard room (I think they call it a 'City Room' or something similar) which was extremely small for two people to and the one we stayed with had an air conditioning unit the size of a small van outside the window which didn't shut down at all, meaning that sleep was intermittent even with the window closed and earplugs in. Previous room was overlooking the street and was spacious, quite and comfortable, and would warrant a solid 'five' for sleep quality and room categories ....you get what you pay for. Staff and location excellent regardless.

The duvet wasn't wide enough for the bed. The toilet seat was broken. There was only one towel in the bathroom. We couldn't get any hot water out of the basin tap. I thought the rooms would be checked before guests arrive.

« Comfortable, central and friendly »

Efficient check in and check out (express), the room was clean and comfortable. The toilet of first room I was given (317) was running continuously and I was given another immediately. The room was cold despite my efforts in trying to set the AC to heat. I finally turned the AC completely off as it was also noisy. The Wi-Fi was slow and barely usable (high latency, low bandwith). The bathroom was heated and everything worked well. I appreciated the complementary coffee/tea and biscuits. The bed was comfortable and warm. It's also nice to find power outlets next to the bed. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was average but acceptable. The staff was maybe a bit too zelous in wanting to remove plates and cups as soon as possible. My overall experience was positive, and I'll come back. I find the hotel very well situated. On the other hand, I was disappointed with the Accor app which didn't show my booking, and didn't record my points despite my signaling this at check in and before I contacted support.

« Good room, poor hospitality »

My sister and I chose to catch up in Nottingham to celebrate my birthday and Christmas instead of buying presents. We chose the better room which came with complimentary drinks which were not refilled for the 3 days we stayed. Our coffee machine didn’t work. Our tea and coffee wasn’t refilled for the 3 days either and cups were dirty so we had to wash them in the sink, I went downstairs to say about it and was barely dealt with. We had to ask for more toilet roll too as the room hasn’t been cleaned and refilled properly, old room service plates weren’t taken. There was mould on the ceiling of the bathroom, a sticker on the floor from the previous people showing it wasn’t cleaned properly and the shower water didn’t drain properly coming back up a green colour. As brief as I can get my disappointment. I complained but just got offered a card and free breakfast when If I come back... trouble is we didn’t even enjoy the cooked breakfast that we got with this stay as it was over seasoned! I am Not a complainer but I am stayed in loads of hotels, and some cheaper with better service.
