Staff went above & beyond: The Club Lounge staff was extremely helpful - and every afternoon at happy hour, we were treated to special cocktails made by Zora.. She has the warmest smile and memory of what we love. We Also love the Brown Brothers Windmill shiraz at the lounge. Cindy is also extremely helpful. Michael at checkin / out was highly responsive. Andre at the Pool Bar would run to get new beers when it runs out! Jason at Customer Relations continually checked on us to make sure everything was well. When we requested for bath salts at reception - it got to our room just before we got back to our room! Amazing. Poolside swinging beds are nothing like we’ve ever had. Best way to relax by the pool and have an afternoon nap while swinging in the warm breeze. Only issue - the helicopter flying overhead constantly and being near the oceanview rooms took the exoerience down a notch. … anyway the chopper launch pad can be relocated? Otherwise, loved our stay. Thank you!

For a third consecutive time we spent our holidays at Sofitel Leeman Sanya Resort. Together with their highly qualified and friendly team. This time we were not able to see Marc, but everything was under the highly capable hands of Pierre. We had an amazing experience as always from the New Year's Eve celebrations to our time chilling at the beach. Even before arrival we were kindly helped by Roy (Front Desk Manager) to prepare everything before hand (due to late arrival) Upon check-in we were meet by Maggie whom as kind as ever helped and assisted in everything need it during our stay. We truly recommend anyone going, to add to their stay the access to the Milessime Club. The entire staff was super accommodating and it brought an absolute new level to our lodging experience. Cindy, Zora, Daisy, Echo and Eva were always on point and super helpful to accommodate us. Additionally, we had a very lovely New year's Eve celebrations full of dancing, fireworks and fun together with other guests and even the hotel staff. At the party's bar we were meet by William and Henry, whom were quite attentive. We also had lovely towels/florals arrangements in our room thanks to Minga from Housekeeping, with a very special arrangement made to celebrate my couple's birthday. Special thanks to Pierre, Cissy and Alisa, for putting together a lovely surprise in occasion for her birthday. An additional place that cannot be skipped is their Thai Restaurant. amazing food with great service. Must try their Sea bass in Lyme Sauce. April, Fiora, Julia, Ada and Win were super special and provided with top notch food and service. For another time we continue to be deeply satisfied and happy to spend our time at the Sofitel together with their great team of people. Looking forward to our next time there!

Room was not ready, but Roy was superb at ensuring we were placed in the club lounge to wait and also upgraded us when the room took longer than usual to be ready. Entire stay staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our 4th time in Sanya and we decided to try Haitang Bay again because on the reviews and pictures of this Sofitel. Even though swimming in the sea is not allowed by the authorities in Haitang Bay, I really enjoyed this resort and the leisure it offers, specially the swimming pool area. We got a premium sea view room (I strongly recommend sea-view room) which was beautifully decorated and very spacious. The small balcony was a nice plus. The bed was very comfortable and AC working as it should. Since the day before my arrival I was contacted by Michelle who I added on wechat, I really like this kind of service as it provides easy and quick assistance if necessary. She was also very attentive and took care of us all the way. Check-out was super fast, all we did was dropping the room key and later received the billing by mail. The breakfast was nothing less than I would expect from this level of hotel in terms of offer, but I really enjoyed the quality of the food and layout of the room. What I enjoyed most in the hotel was the swimming pool areas. The actually have 2 different pools, a big one close to the rooms and another one close to the beach. Both of them offer different kind of areas to enjoy, for example the bigger one offers a bar area, a separate kids area, and quite a few smaller more private areas where you can have a chair or sofas. You can also find hammocks laying around the hotel grounds. An important comment to make is that during peak season the hotel offers helicopter tours, so there will be a lot of take-off and landing during the day. It did't bother us much though.

This is my 4th time at Sofitel Leeman and as shared already in 2021 it has improved greatly, service is very attentive and F&B is great for this level of hotel. It is perfect for family stay. They were able to keep a high quality also during the golden week when the hotel was extremely busy.

1. beach side pool is closed but no prior notice in any of booking site. This was the main reason that I went back to Sofitel Sanya after 2020 stay. 2. Shampoo was empty, so requested to refill on the day of arrival, however, it took 2 days to be done after the reminders. 3. Endless calls for housekeeping even though putting ‘don’t disturb’ sign. Felt like I had to be kicked out from the room for cleaning. 4. No bottle opener for beer in the room, so requested it to Service desk, however there is only 1 bottle opener available in such a big hotel, so that I had to give back the opener to the staff right away as he was waiting for me in front of the door. Got a feedback that if I want to open another bottle, please press ‘0’ to ask. 5. Got a Wechat message from concierge that they prepared a fruit plate in the room during my stay. but found out that nothing was prepared in the room. I don’t really mind if Sofitel offer me fruits or not, but if you’re not ready to provide a seamless service, better to stop having this ‘wechat concierge’ service. So it was my 2nd time in Sofitel, I won’t go back to this hotel in my future as the service level was not in a good level compared to others in Sanya.

Even though the hotel is cut off from the rest of Sanya, I loved it. Everything was good. Language barrier does create confusion at times but translation apps help! Just train cleaning staff to be consistent with service, they provide some things on one day and other days they don’t. Laundry service is very good! Food is good but less options for vegetarians and very few options for italian food/western food. Could be work upon. Some rooms need serious renovations. Also, please make a smoking zone in your hotel so the smokers dont smoke everywhere. The rooms air conditioning stinks of cigarette smoke. Really irritating with kids. You can add a bar and keep it for smoking zone. Rooms must have strict non-smoking policy!!! Rest is great. Maybe train staff to clean the restaurant tables immediately once the guest leaves. Typical in China that tables are always lying around uncleaned till a new guest requests it to be cleaned.

We were able to get to know a lot of them over the course of a month and we were so impressed with how they went above and beyond for their guests. The club service was impeccable and we highly recommend it. We will definitely try to get back to this resort sometime in the future.

For another consecutive year we decided to stay again at Sofitel. As always the service and care provided from all of the staff went well above and beyond our expectations. Everything expertly coordinated by Pierre. Even before arrival, from receiving a kind call from Tender Gao (front desk manager) to confirm that everything will be in order and that they will be expecting us, all the way to helping and making sure to accomodate all of our needs before, during and even after our stay. The food selection and quality is one of the best in the island, the facilities are in top working conditions and everyone seems to be really proud of their work and what it represents. At the front desk Maggie, Cissy & Roy were extra helpful and provided extra assistance when need it and as always going above and beyond their duties. At the pool bar Charlie had us completly hooked with excellent cocktails together with the help of Sherry. The beach was beautiful and we were really impressed by the care and safety conciousness of Corey, making sure that guests were safe and extra comfortable. As the title says, Sofitiel continues to be the best place to stay in Sanya. We will continue to go there as it has become the right place to be. Thanks to all of the staff!

Beautiful resort with some more or less minor flaws

Spent four nights there, with access to Club Millésime. The range and quality of food at breakfast, tea-time and Happy Hour (5-7pm) was quite nice, though not as awesome as I would have expected with regard to the pricing. The choice of liquors must be hororably mentioned, but at the pool bar I found a bottle of Campari which never ever contained Campari, since the color of the liquid was orange and not crimson, as it should be. Most annoying: There is a helicopter landing place in the center of the resort, with service-time from 10am to 5pm. Every 5 to 10 minutes there was either a start or a landing, and helicopters were flying just 10 to 15 m above your head when you were seeking rest at the main pool. This service seemed to be very popular, and was also offered by the resorts in the neigbourhood, with the effect that the guest looking for recreation is disturbed by noise in the air almost all over the day. Finally, to say something positive: For those who booked a room facing the ocean: You can witness amazing and unforgettable sunrise at that location.

I am happy to read that you felt our resort is beautiful, but I am sorry we did not manage to exceed your expectations on all levels. Concerning the bottle of Campari at the pool bar, this would have been a display-, or dummy bottle, that does not contain the actual product as it is for display purposes only. Of course, the color should match the real thing so we will look into this. The helicopter does fly over the Beach pool, but not the main pool. We are working with the helicopter crew to create a different take off and landing protocol that would increase their altitude and reduce the noise disturbance. I am glad you enjoyed the beautiful sunrises. The sunsets are equally, if not more stunning, as the mountain side often has very light cloud cover creating amazing color reflections. We had an excellent stay of 4 nights in September 2019. The hotel is very well maintained and very clean. The view from the room was great. Our son of 1.5 year old spent excellent times at the kids club and with the small train. The private beach is not very nice since it's not allowed to swim due to very strong current but there are several amazing swimming pools in the property which are really great. The breakfast was really good and with a lot of choice, for more privacy there is also an executive lounge to enjoy quiet breakfast or tea. The service was great, the team offered a very warm welcome and was always available to discuss. We will definitively come back to this Sofitel if we are back in the region.
