The Accommodation and facilities at the resort were fantastic. The service was fantastic. A massive thank you to Michael at Concierge :) The food was below average to say the least. Breakfast was reasonable but we had to eat out every day for Lunch and Dinner as the menu was limited and what was on that menu was very poorly produced.

Long experience with Fairmont since inception with corporate bookings , but for those dark days in the middle, & bringing our grandkids since the current management take over. We booked for a week to be followed by another week at Sebel Kiama. Nothing to do with Fairmont standards we found the Covid restrictions to be depressing & checked out early adding those days to Kiama . It’s a different world down here with beautiful beaches & ocean pools for use at our leisure. We no longer feel regimented. Lovely dining options just a walk away. About Fairmont, maintenance could be improved. The carpet in the bar / lounge is very dirty. Room house keeping extremely unreliable on this visit. Our grandkids have outgrown Fairmont, & as a couple we would prefer to pay for other options. Had one breakfast & one dinner at Eucalypt , both ordinary. We know we are fussy . I acknowledge staff who are cheerful on balance in this difficult environment.

I was disappointed with the Hotel. For a 4-5 star hotel i would only give it a 3 star. It is need of a modern update & I found the hotel and the bar very expensive for the hotel. I'm aware that we are in a pandemic but paper cups & plastic cups in the room, really! If its ok to use glass and crockery in the restaurant then shorly its ok for the rooms given the rating & price you charge. I would not revisit or recommend the Hotel to anyone.

Amazing experience even though we didn’t get the chance to dine in any restaurant there but still great. Luckily all kids entertainment was available and my kids had so much fun.A massive thank you to Adam from Concierge for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable for the kids. He was very patient with my boys and very kind and helpful and funny too. Also with the young Nepalese/Indian guy that was in main entrance who gave me more information in what to expect and what to enjoy more in our stay. Thank you so much. We will definitely come back.

I previously requested an early check in if possible and the reverse happened with our room not being ready until 3.50pm obviously not a good start. Then came being advised that our breakfast would be 9.15am which is late for us. In fact we actually were not allowed to the table til 9.30am almost brunch time. Then I was advised by reception that we couldn’t use the pool as it was booked out due to covid. It would have been nice to find this out beforehand. As for our room it was nice and large but only one single chair to use, there was plenty of room to accommodate a small sofa or at least an additional chair. On the plus side staff were friendly.

We had a lovely time at the Fairmont, however due to covid we missed out on a time booking for the pool. Not aware it was 1 hour blocks until we checked in and then missed out all together. The room service was wonderful. We also asked to be placed on a higher level for the view. And when we got to the room realised we got the opposite side of the hotel facing the car park and not the blue mountains.

Whilst the service was great & what you'd expect of a 4 star resort many times our reception calls went u unanswered. We waited 5 hours for 2 glasses of wine & a microwave we had pre-booked. Finally arrived at 9pm after many calls & hubby had to finally walk downstairs to ask. 4 out of 8 pillows smelt slept on like hair oil it was gross also waited hours to have these replaced. The room was FULL of dust. My husband who's highly allergic to dust mites broke out in gives after our first evening. The grounds & facilities are well kept but rooms so dated. The kids playroom smelt musty & was very dark. Breakfast plates all stunk like eggs. Concierge gents we're amazing & so friendly!

It was great having friendly and courteous exchanges with staff during my stay. The two ponds on the grounds were a favourite place of mine, along with the enchanting steel sculptures, indoor train display and the Paris circus installation. The ducks and fish in the ponds created a warm and enlightening atmosphere. Upon leaving Fairmont at the end of my stay, it was so lovely of Adam from Concierge to come out and see me off and lift my luggage onto the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus.

1. I rang the resort on the day before we arrived to book our dinners and breakfasts. At that time I enquired whether I could also book a time for our family to use the pool on the day of arrival. I was told by the staff member that bookings for the pool are to be made after arrival, but there should be no problem with availability on the day. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were told that there was no availability for the pool until 6.00 pm. With 2 small (and now very disappointed) children this was not a suitable time for us, as it also clashed with our dinner booking. 2. On the second day of our stay we were trying to rest in our room after lunch (small kids needing naps), and a member of the cleaning staff opened the room door (presumably to come and tidy the room, which had not been tidied whilst we were out in the morning). (There were no ‘do not disturb’ signs in the room for us to use.) Later that afternoon, while we were still trying to rest, there were multiple children running up and down the corridor, screaming and making quite a lot of noise. 3. At breakfast time we got the sense that the restaurant was understaffed, as used dishes piled on our table and it took a significant amount of time to get a second coffee (which we ended up having to rush to our room as our breakfast sitting was ending). 4. I would like to mention Lauren on the evening shift in the restaurant on the last night of our stay – she was supremely professional, gave excellent service, made us feel very welcome and was overall an absolute star!

Average stay, hotel well over due for a refreshment

We stayed as a family of four over 2 rooms (luxury suite 438 and adjoining superior 436). My husband and I had previously stayed in the Megalong suite at least over 20 years ago and it’s still almost the same! The view is lovely but the interiors are definitely in need of a good deep clean! The suite had multiple spiders and their cobwebs on the loft ceiling (we eliminated the spiders ourselves). Balcony furniture covered in cobwebs as was the sliding doors (again wiped them away ourselves). Yes I understand we have bush land around us and there are plenty of insects around but the room was not given a good scrub down (maybe the room hadn’t been used for a while??) but still for the price we paid for 2 nights for 2 rooms ($1780) I thought at least we wouldn’t have to remove our own spiders! The balcony area could do with a high pressure hosing treatment - didn’t pack our own.. We have stayed multiple times over many many years and it is a great place for kids but Fairmont management really needs to freshen up the rooms including carpets and bathrooms - the Blue mountains really needs a great fresh hotel that isn’t run down and Fairmont can be that once again if they take the time and money to do so. I’ve read many other reviews also commenting on how run down it has become. It’s in a great location for bush walks and the high ropes are (separate provider) are well run. We had breakfast twice - first was room service which was on time and the breakfast was received hot. Second time we went to Jamisons - we were originally seated right by the cold buffet, so many guests (non masked) queued to get their items and it got congested (how COVID safe was that?) so we requested to move to a less congested area which they happily obliged. Maybe not put a table by that cold buffet, too many people congregating around there. Overall an average stay, great location, do expect run down rooms, staff we encountered were pleasant. We won’t be back in a huge hurry, maybe after management have done a huge overhaul to the resort.

My 3 kids and I had a wonderful and memorable stay at Fairmont Resort. It was lucky that we stopped at Scenic World before checking in to the resort as once there my kids didn’t want to venture out again. They were entertained by the large heated indoor pool, kids play equipment, cinema, train ride, merry go round ride and pony rides. They also enjoyed walking around the resort and taking in the views and duck ponds full of fish. The resort catered to the current covid restrictions and we enjoyed both dining in to the restaurant as well as room service. Only downfall would be the lifts may need some maintenance as we had a few close calls with the doors closing on us when entering and exiting as they didn’t seem to register someone was in the entry/exit. Overall a great short stay family holiday!

Disappointing during covid times

My partner and I regularly stay here and always enjoy the atmosphere! We were disappointed to find that there were many changes in place due to covid, whilst I understand why this needs to be done it is disappointing that we were not made aware prior to our stay of these changes and had to pay the same amount. For example as we arrived at 3pm planning to utilise the pool for the afternoon, we were told bookings are to be made for the pool and it was fully booked for that afternoon. Following this, the buffet breakfast was fully booked for the next morning, very disappointing considering the amount paid for breakfast and only staying two nights so looking forward to our usual buffet. Our buffet was replaced with room service which was a limited menu. When attending the buffet on our last morning it was limited food also with little pastries left and most food being ordered as opposed to served through buffet style.

Expensive, well-located resort with the feel of staying in a country pub run by well-meaning amateurs. Individual staff were delightful but seem to be let down by inadequate training and/or poor management.

Staff training and development is our number one priority and an area that receives much time, effort and company resources. As a result of this focus, we usually receive accolades from our guests for the warm, friendly and professional service consistently found throughout the resort. As an Accor Plus Member with experience of many Sofitel and M Gallery properties both in Australia and internationally, I was quite disappointed with the Fairmount. The courtyard room (Room 125) was lovely but slightly jaded and I was surprised with the condition of the bathroom which looked about 30 years or more old. The plumbing was so poor that the toilet could not flush solids. I do appreciate that we are all grappling with Covid-19 policies which are often contradictory or perplexing but the Accor policy was quite baffling to be honest. The $34 breakfast was cold and served in cardboard boxes with wooden cutlery. We thought that eating in our room would be safer as we were in a bubble together and socially distant? However, in the restaurant one is able to have breakfast on china plates with metal cutlery and proper glasses in a room packed full of people without masks. This seemed quite odd. As an Accor Member, I thought I might receive a Welcome Drink voucher on arrival but none was offered. On departure, one Drink Voucher suddenly appeared but we were unable to get 2 of both of us? I am beginning to wonder why I paid for Accor Plus Membership when so little is offered to members. It is wonderful that Accor are now managing this property but the interiors and standard of service come nowhere near the M Gallery brand expectation. The $693 paid for 2 nights was on "market par" with the Sofitel Darling Harbour in Sydney and yet these experiences are a world apart.
