Very dated rooms. Was not told restaurant was closed. Room smelled of weed which I brought to the hotel’s attention but was told it was coming from outside. Floors creaking every where you walk

Working hard in difficult times

The staff were extremely friendly, hard working and helpful even though having to work in difficult times. Check in quick. Room was a really good size but probably due to working in Covid restrictions I did not have the slippers, robes, the nespresso machine and free newspaper as mentioned provided in this type of room on the hotel website. This ought to be pointed out on the website or at least mentioned, apologies offered given and an explanation when checking in. I wanted a cup of tea in the lounge in the afternoon but was told I could not have a pot and only a disposable cup with a tea bag in it. Room very comfy but a little tired. For example the coffee table had a rather scratched surface. WIFI worked fine and not at all slow. Good selection of toiletries and towels in the bathroom. No tea bags in room. Plenty of milk and coffee though and I picked up more tea bags when passing reception after dinner. We had breakfast in the lounge where we had tea the afternoon before. No sooner sat down than someone appeared with a take away bag containing croissant, yoghurt, fruit and muffin. We were asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast but it seemed it was a full English or nothing. I would have preferred a couple of poached eggs on toast. Car park good and I felt it was secure. Overall a satisfactory stay with very good staff doing a good job in these difficult Covid 19 restricted times.

stayed here for one night on a BB as we have recently moved to Leicester, the hotel was closed to external residents however the General Manager Sandeep Kaushik accommodated us for one night as we had a few challenges in our move. the hotel was great, staff were amazing, breakfast in the morning was really good quality too. will highly recommend this hotel for business and Leisure stays.

Checked in early evening using the easy to use QR code track and trace system. Receptionist was polite and very helpful. Rooms was spotlessly clean, and shower was powerful. Only thing is the room had signs of wear and tear - this was a minor issue during what was a generally good stay. Lighting in the rooms is ambient, and does not distract you.

Front of house staff and Housekeeping staff also very polite. very polite and helpful. I lived in Leicester in the 50s/60s and remember the grandeur of the GRAND HOTEL when it was the flagship of the Ind Coope hotel chain so I as disappointed that it was so shabby and the restaurant had become a fast food joint. I understand that maintenance of an old building is expensive but the inability to see out of the bedroom window because of decades of guano is , nevertheless very sad.

The reception was good and welcoming, staff very friendly, Spacious rooms. The on site Marco Pierre restaurant was excellent. The only issue we had was that there was nomad conditioning and the room did get rather warm

Staff were really friendly and helpful, the food was really good and in my opinion fairly priced for what get. The room was nice however it seemed very dated and didnt fit the lobby of the hotel, My biggest commplaint was that there was dried chewing gum on the pillow case which suggested to me that they hadent washed the sheets from the last person(s) that stayed in the room which is disgusting. Other than that the stay was good and i enjoyed it for the most part...

lovely welcome at reception , nice meal and pleasant service in restaurant . Bedroom needs a major deep clean and refurbishment . Do not expect to have earplugs buy my bed due to the awful noise through the night .

The rooms are very old!

The heating was not working at all and so I complained for about three hours before an electric heater was brought to my room. The floor and walls looked very dirty which made me feel a little uncomfortable. This is nothing some new paint could remedy. The room had no adjustable thermostat and breakfast was mediocre, I am sorry but I am very disappointed!
