The room and hotel was very good but evening meal seating and the actual meal was very under par. I could have done better myself so a little disappointed. But clean and warm so overal ok

The hotel was nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, our stay was marred by some extreme noise during the night, at about 4:30am, which seemed to be coming from a staff area on our floor. It stopped very suddenly but was loud enough to wake up both myself and my wife - sounded like a party going on!! We were in room 328 I think and the staff area appeared to be adjacent to the lift. This was on 19/11/22.

I was confused by the comment around a staff area as we don't have one in the bedroom blocks, I have asked nights to feedback to me. Thank you for bringing this to my attention Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant but quieter than the previous one. We were lucky enough to stay in this hotel whilst on a coach trip. Lovely big clean rooms and the most comfy bed. Breakfast choice was very good and plentiful. Staff very efficient and attentive. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Dear Hollydog50 Thank you for taking the time to provide your recent review. Great to see you visited whilst on your recent coach trip. Kind Regards

Fozzie B Business - TripAdvisor review

I really don’t know where to start with this review. Check out the website and visit this charming Georgian hotel. The reality is a 1980’s throwback hulking mess of endless corridors that smell bad. Fire doors left wide open because of condensation issues. Staffs children running around the breakfast room and reception. It really is a depressing hotel. Trying to be positive some of the staff are really nice and care and yet others look like they have given up, shirts hanging out, sullen expressions. The bar is small and noisy and there are always plenty of dogs as the Guidedog club use the place (and even gave dedicated outdoor kennels) so if you are allergic to dogs or hate wet dog smell give it a miss The food is in patches good but mostly average, and breakfast poor, cold and insipid. Coffee is in jugs (a real hate of mine). Choice limited. Bedrooms are small and cramped though reasonably well kept and clean. We had a conference here and TBH it was a disaster. The room was in a windowless basement, lights were out, the projector screen was broken, staff service was nonexistent and the noise from the gym classes downstairs disruptive. I can’t say I’ll ever bother to come back here - unless it has been levelled and a new hotel built in its place.

I believe the previous GM emailed you back direct to discuss this further.
