Your staff were incredible they are under trained, overworked but battled through the chaos in a pleasant and professional manner they are a credit to you - unlike your hotel premises which are delapidated, worn out, unkempt, not maintained to any standard and are certainly not 4 star by any stretch of the imagination, I would give you a generous 2.5 rating - the grounds I am sure are beautiful but need to be maintained so the outside areas can be used by guests there was no outside seating at all - the photos on your website are incredibly misleading its a shame the location is great the food in the brasserie was inedible - we did however have bar food which was delicious so well done the line order cook - apart from the powdered juices breakfast was also good - the main issue was the standard and maintenance of the premises - you should be ashamed of yourselves - this hotel needs closing and refurbishing throughout - I was unable to shower as it just didn't work - our room was not made up during our 3 night stay the 'make up my room sign' was still on the door when we returned from our days out despite leaving the hotel each morning around 0800 - we had to order additional towels and loo rolls two days running - I WOULD STRESS ONCE AGAIN THE STAFF IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY WITH A POOR QUALITY PRODUCT TO WORK WITH WERE BRILLIANT - had I been able to get into an alternative hotel in Chester (they were all full) we would have simply left and not stayed one night!!

Holes in carpets but good wedding

The hotel is in serious need of refurbishment. The carpets in the corridors were frayed and had holes in them. The bar service was poor - it lacked in organisation and certain beverages were not available. There was only one chef working so we decided to eat elsewhere. However, the day and night afterwards was much better when we attended our friends wedding. It was as if it were two different hotels.

Very very poor hotel not ready to be open

The hotel was not 4 star. We were allocated a terrible room it was not clean and had the most terrible damp horrible smell carpet was thilthy. Receptionist was new lovely but sent us the wrong way to our room. We got a room change was bigger and better carpet still dirty and to get into have a shower was so dangerous no mat and you slip. The hotel corridors were not hoovered and again carpets dirty and thread worn especially on stairs dangerous if you have heals on to catch on the worn areas. Bar was terrible drinks sent back twice warm and tonic flat in gins very disappointing service so slow. If we heard we are short staffed again it's just not acceptable. Poor poor hotel we spent as much time out of the hotel as possible which is sad as we needed a rest and relax. We did get drinks taken of our bill but had to ask this was not offered. No crisps left behind the bar. We were hungry on arrival at 3 in the day and could only get a sandwich it cost £7 was dry no side salad or anything it was not presented well and they had run out of crisps to by behind the bar poor. Our meal at night was very slow service wine's on menu 3 were not available. Food was very average. Breakfast was the best part but was shocked at covid standards as everyone was sharing the the equipment at the buffet. Cups at coffee machine were not always clean same with cutlery. The manager was a very busy man hardworking at breakfast time. I arranged to speak to him on Monday to highlight my complaints.

We booked the Abbotts Well for its location, being near to local attractions and having a swimming pool for my son. The restaurant service and food was good, albeit a little slow, but as there is a shortage of staff this is fully understandable. The bar service wasn’t great from all team members and was incredibly slow, Adam was very good though. It is understandable that the cellar was struggling to keep cool but running out of post mix really was quite poor, with Sainsbury’s just round the corner a staff member should have been sent round to buy bottles of lemonade and coke etc, this would have stopped the amount of complaints from other guests. We stayed during the heatwave so the bedrooms were very hot, nothing could be done about this, housekeeping did kindly provide us with a second fan that did help my 9 year old get some sleep.

Arrived 2.30 rooms not available till 4.30pm had to sit in bar waiting . Room had no Ariel in the tv and phone not working so had to go back down to reception to report this . A Ariel turned up 1 he later but the phone was still broken when we left . The room was dirty pictures taken of all the dust and rubbish on the floor . Breakfast was manic not enough staff to cope food was running out all of the time . We booked a spa break but no spa facilities on offer so we took a 50 pound voucher for the restaurant where the food turned out to be average . The poor girl with the pony tail I felt sorry for she ran that restaurant single handily and did her best . A big shout out to the young lad in the bar however who helped us with a special requirement however the prices in there where extortionate . Next time I am in Chester I will use a premier inn for sure me and my fiancé had a terrible stay which is a shame as I use your hotels all over Europe regularly but this stay will make us think again in the future .

Friendly staff but room was falling apart

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We thought the Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is in a perfect location with beautiful gardens. The room however was very disappointing, It was so warm in there with no Air conditioning working. The plaster underneath the window was hanging off the wall. I mentioned this to the staff at reception but nothing was done. We also found a small amount of rubbish underneath the bed but other than that the room was clean and tidy. The shower in the room took a long time to get warm And the pressure was Awful. The swimming pool was excellent and kept the kids entertained.

Overall good experience. First night the restaurant not open as it was a Sunday but the bar food was good. Second evening could not eat in restaurant because there was not enough food and they were running out of meals. Comfortable stay and pool is nice. Could do with a bit of an update some raggedy carpets and chipped paint in hallways. Housekeeping seemed a little lazy. Got one new towel and bed was ‘made’ and bins emptied however did not remove glasses from room service etc and surfaces not wiped down.

Very disappointing stay

Positives - good location to explore Chester, nearby canal and Christleton - friendly staff - free parking Negatives - on arrival, we were advised that we had been upgraded to a privilege room. We had, in fact, booked a privilege room in the first place. However, on getting to the room, it was obviously not a privilege room, with none of the additional amenities expected in a privilege room. When we complained and showed Richard on reception the photos on the Accor website, we were informed that the room was a DBA ( whatever that is), that they were not in fact Accor but in fact a Jupiter hotel, such rooms did not exist in the hotel and it was impossible to move us as the hotel was full. Additional amenities were provided and we were compemstated for the confusion; however, as a first impression, it was not a good one! One of the reasons we chose the hotel was due to the outside area. We were keen to sit outside in the good weather but were disappointed to find no seating area ( again different to the images on website). When we queried this, we were informed that a prom party has destroyed the furniture the previous weekend. As a consequence, we walked into Christleton and spent our money elsewhere! There were a significant number of new staff in the hotel and this was very obvious. It is very unclear if they have received adequate training as they were very unsure of processes. For examples, asked in reception about arrangments to clean the room as was told that she didn’t know as there had been several lockdowns! Inconsistencies in room cleaning arrangements with room cleaned after first night but not after the second night. Difficult at times to get hold of additional towels - left message with reception but no luck! Coffee machine in room was not compatable with coffee pods provided.

Very quiet hotel clean with comfy bed. Shower over bath and shower curtain. Good power and perfect temperature. Lots of space around basin. Fantastic cooked English breakfast which included black pudding and fried bread I enjoyed the peppered mushrooms although my fellow guests found them spicy. Good coffee at breakfast although only instant satchets in room. Hotel decor feels a bit tired altho probably early 2000’s. Out of town and nothing nearby which is a shame. For its comparison Travelodge/premier inn are better equipped etc. Although the food here is better. Due to Covid not allowed to approach the bar. Tried to order drinks but after 30 minutes gave up. Couldn’t use the spa either due to Covid.

Nice hotel.Very helpful staff.Room clean and tidy.Good breakfast,well worth the money.Hotel just a little outside town.Park and ride nearby to get into town.Nice bar area to relax in the evening with reasonable prices.

I wasn't impressed with the standard of the suite we stayed in however I found the majority of the staff to be excellent. Wasn't supplied with complimentary slippers, robe or newspaper as stated. Found bathroom to be very disappointing and had several other small issues throughout our stay. The stay just didn't live up to my expectations and unfortunately it's unlikely that I would return.

Disappointing. We ordered daily papers for three days but none were delivered. Not corrected by reception. Room card keys did not work properly. we had 10 different cards over three days with much inconvenience going back and forth to reception every time we were locked out.

Stop over for 1 night, room was very nice ,everything we needed.had meal in bar excellent . Staff very attentive . Room a little noisy as we were close to bar, but that was fine. would stay here again no problem.

We have stayed in this hotel several times before and its one of our favourites. This time we paid £3 extra for a superior suite which gave us a separate little living room and some rather nice dressing gowns to wear. The hotel is in a nice quiet location at the edge of Chester with plenty of free parking. Its only 5 minutes walk to the 'park & ride' where there are regular busses to the centre of town for £2 each for a return journey. Rooms are nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. There is a nice bar and a restaurant downstairs which overlooks the gardens at the back. You can also have room service, we had some very nice pizza's delivered along with glasses of wine. Minor grumbles are a noticeable lack of plug sockets and a shower with a mind of its own (couldn't decide what temperature it wanted to be). Overall a lovely stay and we will certainly return

This is an excellent hotel with swimming pool and leisure centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and comfortable and the restaurant/bar experiences were very good. Pet friendly too! Highly recommended.
