The hotel was clean and the room was nice, very disappointed by the evening menu choice of burgers pizza or curry! Not 4 star hotel food! We ate dinner elsewhere, Breakfast was inedible we sent it back and we’re given a refund for it.

I stayed for 3 nights and the room was all that I needed. It was clean and wasn’t serviced whilst I was there because of the virus situation but that was not an issue. If I’d needed anything replacing all I had to do was ask.

Clean and comfortable room

Hotel is in a good place and our room was clean and comfortable. However, we had no choice over breakfast, it was either full English or vegetarian English or deviled eggs. When I asked if we could have sausage instead of bacon the answer was no and that we have to be okay with how it comes. It was really disappointing because we couldnt have what we want at all, plus breakfast came quite cold both mornings. You are only offered one cup of tea or coffee and small glass of juice. As well as dinner.. Was definitely not fresh dinner, came quite old and it didn't seem fresh. Only later on I have realised I was also overcharged for dinner, 2 prawn cocktail starters on the menu was as £5 each but on the receipt it came as £15 for both. Also I asked my pasta with no chicken but I was still charged for it... Comparing to my other experience in other mercure hotels this was the worst overall. We wanted to use swimming pool and we were not offered towels... Also there were so many people booked at once that there was literally no place to swim.

I was very impressed with the rooms which were very clean. The grounds are lovely and the staff are very helpful. The gym and pool are very clean. I had my dog with me and the nicest thing about my stay was my room was a lovely room despite the fact I had a dog. Overall a nice place to stay.

Overall the stay was good. Cooked and continental breakfast available in the restaurant - table service only. Dinner menu limited but good. Staff helpful. Good anti-virus measures in place, so felt safe. Always plenty of parking available, a definite plus.

The visit got off to a good start we chose an upgraded room including extras robes, slipper and newspaper, to be told at the hotel we could not have a newspaper, but we were offered compensation, we understand the reasons but would have appreciated if the information given on the website was correct. The breakfast was advertised as Eggs Benedict which to our travel knowledge understood that it should include bacon or ham in the dish but this sadly lacking. Overall our breakfast experience was disappointing to the extent we chose not to have breakfast at the hotel the second day.

We came on the 2night deal with dinner on night one and had a wonderful trip. Can’t beat the value of the deal at all! So much so we were happy to spend behind the bar and on lunch etc We were pleasantly surprised how streamlined and friendly the service was & the ease of using hotel facilities etc amidst current climate. We felt Covid security was Reassuringly evident everywhere but without feeling restricted. Loved that you could lock lobby toilets so you can rest assured not going to run into anyone else in close proximity. Obviously sauna and jacuzzi were off limits and that’s totally understandable, maybe just a pre warning by email what facilities are still open On day you travel would be handy for future reference, but absolutely not a complaint. I Wasn’t expecting cooked breakfast (As partner travels lots for business and most other hotels only providing grab bag breakfast option) so concept was a nice surprise but the actual quality of the Breakfast meat (sausage and bacon weren’t good. Couldn’t eat it both days) But presentation and service Were great. Liked the secure room labels so you can rest assured it’s been cleaned and Undisturbed and paper cups etc were great. We brought our own, thinking same thing, but didn’t need to use them. In our room we uled back met curtains and opened window and saw big shoe foot print on window which was odd don’t think interior windows are cleaned each stay in that case.. We just didn’t want you to think it was us! Room was 147. We asked for extra toiletries and got them delivered fine so was happy with welcome letter explaining status of things and including menu too. Dinner on night one was outstanding value in our deal. We even had money left afterCouple of us had three courses which the staff let us use up towards our drinks. We were willing to pay drinks as sur charges/extras but they insisted it was covered by allowance. we will definitely be recommending to friends and family after such a great stay! A few items were missing off reduced menu but We didn’t mind at all there was still plenty of choice. Food was good quality overall but the “proper garlic bread” advertised in menu was very peculiar and had an unnatural vinegary taste which repeated on me all night and I felt sick thinking of it. I’d stick to regular garlic butter in future as that was not right. I suspect they rubbed garlic cloves from jar of pickle/Vinegary brine over the toasted bread as flavour was bit synthetic like you get in those preserved garlic ready peeled jars. But again not complaining, just Providing feedback as it’ looked the business but the taste was just wrong. (I am a chef and a butcher and I know my food, plus other travellers had the same experience ) Overall the rest of the food was Very well received, the bar staff were great and even served us on lawn for lunch and drinks on day 2 taking payment there and bringing back change which was superb. Very relaxing stay, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Understood it was a skeleton staff and paired down of usual offering but if still represented great value and we were pleasantly surprised. We said if the restrictions allow and the deal is still on we would do one again As soon as we can And Perhaps again at new year (know real unlikely to be available then but maybe if there’s a different package and in a larger group hopefully allowed by then) as stayed at many mercure venues now and they all have a great atmosphere and professional and friendly teams. Nice restaurant food generally-especially High quality in both Kidderminster and Sheffield we have found) Thank you very much-big thumbs up from our party.

First impressions good receptionist welcoming felt as though safe environment. Booked timed evening meal and breakfast. Evening meal pleasant good price tables well spaced out, adequate choice. 2 staff running bar and restaurant. They managed well. Down side a party of 18 golfers in bar not following social distancing rules. 1 member of staff worked like a trojan taking orders cleaning down serving. She is to be commended. A gentleman older perhaps duty manager did a little bit of light work. As a consequence of the breakfast experience we decided not to have that again picked up bits and pieces from the very close by Waitrose. Though we felt that we would give dinner another go and again this was fine. However only 2 staff again. Low staffing levels seems to be a general trait with Mercure in bars and resteraunts. Staff are friendly and try very hard. Room was clean feeling safe. Unusually fire doors in the corridors were continually closed. Not sure would stay again.
