Christin J TripAdvisor review

Well located hotel. As read in other reviews, the hotel is i bit dated and worn, but it still ok. Exept from 'wear and tear' it was clean. Friendly staff, and nice breakfast. We had a room facing outwards against Prince's street; very nice view both towards Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's seat.

Well located

Room was very small. The furniture needs updating. We stayed 4 nights and our room was not cleaned for 2 nights. We complained to housekeeping and got an apology but this should not have happened in the first place. The cost was £247 per night and we expected a lot more for paying this amount.

Checked in for 2 rooms. 1st room was ready on arrival, which was fine. After attending a concert we returned to pick up the 2nd room key, which we got. However by th time I had went to th room, the passkey wouldn’t work. I went back to reception to b told they had changed my room. How was I supposed to know this??? This was in th space of a few minutes. Also. We went to the bar to get a late drink. They would only serve wine by the bottle, and no draught beer. I have stayed in a few Mercure hotels, and never been treated this way. I am an Accor member, and not happy.

Staff at reception were unwilling to help, refusing until pressed to check if the room had been cleaned so that we could ensure our very elderly relatives could get settled into the room. The room we had was in need of refurbishment, especially the bathroom and was not very clean. Compared to cheap hotels like Premier Inn it was a very poor second.
