Reasonable budget hotel good bar

Only time for 1 night stay. Good relaxing hotel bar with pleasant staff before going out for a meal nearby good restaurants. Family room large and clean good shower over bath. Felt a bit let down by breakfast which was not hot and disorganised (maybe under staffed) so it took a while to queue. Didn’t have time to try the leisure facilities but we will next time.

Lovely family getaway

Me and my family came here for the night. We found the hotel very nice and we’re pleasantly surprised with how comfortable and spacious the room was for the four of us. The lovely sea view topped the room off. We attended the spa where we had fun in the pool though I have took away a mark because the girl on reception seemed to think she was the one watching our kids asking at one point if my little girl was ok in the water. She was assured my daughter was fine and both sets of eyes were on her at all times. I appreciate she was just looking out for my daughter however it seemed slight intruding and made me feel like me and her dad were been careless which we were not. Nevertheless we still had a fun time in he pool which was the best part about the stay. The other thing that took away a mark was the breakfast I ordered a veggie breakfast for it to come absolutely roasting where I burnt my finger on the plate leaving a red mark. Also it looked as tho one tottie scone had been quartered up between the four of our breakfasts as I enjoy the tottie scone the most I would have preferred one hole. I would say we had a really nice time and staff a t the reception were very friendly and helpful. Me and my family would definitely come back in the future.

The room was hot. So I had to leave the window open, which only opened 2 inches. This helped with the temperature but also allowed all the noise of the city to flow into the room, such as the pub next door with loud music and louder people. Also around 1am the fire alarm went off for no apparent reason. We had to evacuate the building and stand outside for an hour.

Overpriced and not of a standard expected of a Mercure branded hotel. Hopefully you won’t stay in room 369. Drafts from the DIY repaired windows. Rusty bath where enamel has cracked off. Mould on the windows. Cracked bathroom floor tiles to catch your toes on. Grubby dirty walls. Shabby lifts. Grotty and dated all round. Not worth the money. Not worth half the cost! Management, Don’t say staff are ‘working on improvements’ like you have with other poor reviews. Take it on the chin. Fix the issues. Lower your prices so that Mercure repeat customers don’t despair with the rest of the group of hotels.

Average city hotel needs updating especially bathrooms overall tired appearance as has been constantly highlighted, pool also requires attention, seats are also past their best in the dining area, even basics like the front door requiring painting were obvious defects

Beds are extremely comfortable. Not enough plug ins close to the bed for phone charging, CPAP or other medical devices required for sleeping. Not sure if Ayr is very touristy but I would have liked a Scottish beer on tap, and when I stayed with you there was nothing worth my time on tap. All in all, not a horrible experience.

The staff were wonderful fully helpful and welcoming, breakfast was nice and location was great - super close to everything and stunning beach views. The room (668 was a superior upgrade) was very run down looking with the cushions and bed throw looking pretty scruffy, cigarette smell in room as well as burns and stains on carpet, shabby slap dash paint job, a big cigarette burn in the bathtub and damaged/hanging curtain rail, Most of this damage is obviously from inconsiderate guests but it’s a shame that the hotel hasn’t put in the necessary TLC to help repair the damages. I know we’re just coming out of a pretty trying time - especially for businesses that rely on tourism to survive, so would hope that in the coming months as the hotels start becoming more profitable again they will do the necessary work to get the room(s?) back up to standard Will definitely look to stay again in the future but would be fairly sad to see it in equal or worse disrepair

Lovely centrally located hotel

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The lounges and dining room are very nice and the hotel has good facilities such as swimming pool. The location and the fact there is a free car park mean you can walk to just about anywhere in Ayr. Only criticism would be some decor needs attending to and we only had one chair in the room

Dated and in poor state of repair

The 6th floor Privilege room decor was very worn and dated and poorly maintained. The bathroom was quite filthy with encrusted urine stains splattered on the built in sanitary unit and hair in the bath. A wood louse was found walking across on the carpet which i had to remove. One if the lifts was unable to access the 1st floor (button simply covered over due to damage) and the voice was garbled. The hotel needs a complete refurbishment. The staff however were pleasant and helpful, but I wasn't asked how I found my stay as I suspect they have simply given up asking forgiven the the state of the place.

Rooms more than adequate for our needs ( golfing trip) as we were out most of the day. Bathroom in need of a makeover as it looked a bit tired as the shower control face plate was hanging off and looked as if it had been siliconed in place more than once. Key cards for the room are a bit of a pain as the cards deactivate themselves if they've been close to a mobile phone meaning a queue at reception to get them sorted again. Bar prices are too high and we actually bought the equivalent drinks cheaper in Royal Troon clubhouse. I don't normally leave satisfaction surveys as it may seem I'm coming across as I'm moaning, I'm not ,just got asked to fill it in honestly so I have.

Room was fine apart from loose and broken tiles on bathroom floor. Told room would be available at 1 o’clock but wasn’t ready till 3. No real problem as we watched football in pub next door.
