« Very expensive for what was received »

One room beautiful, but toilet ran all night keeping me awake , no one on reception to report. Other room no heating, towel rail sitting on top of towels , no one on reception to report.Breakfast very disappointing, not one member of staff asking if all ok in fact all we got was a Morning not another word. Not value for the money that was paid we paid £184 for 2 rooms

« Wonderful overnight stay »

Just returned from an overnight stay on a girlie night away and enjoyed every minute of our stay. On arriving reception quickly checked us in to our lovely recently refurbished room with a lovely view of the sea. The beds were really comfy and both of us enjoyed the 12 o’clock check out and breakfast extending to 11 o’clock on the Sunday made a big difference to our overall experience we were on a dinner bed and breakfast option and our dinner on the Saturday night was one of the best meals I’ve had when staying on this type of break. There was one thing that did disappoint my friend and that was the vodka choice at the bar they only had Smirnoff vodka of which she can’t drink so had to have a soft drink instead so room for improvement there especially as it was a Saturday night it would have been nice if absolute vodka was also available the waiter did say they usually have grey goose as a 2nd option but that was sold out which probably would indicate that more customers are wanting another choice rather than Smirnoff This would not stop us going back but would stop us having drinks at the bar

« Average stay, spa well in need of update. »

Lobby and rooms were lovely, the superior room had a lovely ocean view. Although we were very shocked at the ‘spa’ which I don’t feel meets health and safety standards and is a accident waiting to happen. My dad almost fell tripping over a hose which was connected from the wall to the pool, hand rails were not steady from the jacuzzi and the amount of cracked/missing tiles is appalling. The pool water was very cold and the jacuzzi was far to warm - after only 5 minutes we came out like lobsters, there wasn’t even a lifeguard/attendant in site. This experience was horrendous and let the whole experience of the hotel down. It has great potential.

« Breakaway »

On arrival we were warmly greeted and check in was swift and simple. An added bonus was parking for Blue Badge holders beside the rear entrance which had entry all on the flat. Our room was well equipped, clean and spacious with a panoramic view over rooftops to the sea. The buffet breakfast was very good and would have been made perfect by heated plates.

« A brilliant short break. »

We only stayed one night so didn't have a chance to try the swimming pool. Apart from having trouble finding the car park, everything was fine. The staff were friendly, the room very comfortable with a nice shower and the breakfast was very good. We had a problem with the TV which was fixed straight away, so all in all we were very happy. It was given to us as a gift so we cannot judge value for money.

« Very nice 2 night stay »

Very nice enjoyed our dinner and wine on first night. Had swim and jacuzzi on the wednesday felt that area was needing refurbished a bit looked a bit tired. Bit expensive for bottle of sparkling water £4.60. Staff were very nice. Room was very comfortable but felt the room to be bit warm had to turn heating off and open window to get a bit air.

« Very pleasant helpful and courteous stay! »

I always enjoy coming to the Mercure Hotel in Ayr. The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful and the pool and jacuzzi are very good and relaxing. I like the buffet style breakfast and the menu for the evening meal had good all round choices, as per usual a very pleasant stay.

« Good value hotel »

Enjoyed staying in the Mercure. The hotel staff were very welcoming and the room was warm, clean and comfortable. However I thought the leisure centre was awful. The male changing area was filthy. The wooden seating in the sauna should be ripped out and renewed as it is a health hazard!! I am a leisure centre member of the hotel in my village and it puts your place to shame.

We felt reception weren't expecting us and next morning after breakfast we were asked to change rooms much to our dismay as we had already unpacked. We were disappointed in the refurbished bathroom, in the new room, as access to the shower taps has been curtailed due to the introduction of a fixed shower screen. Not ideal for two over seventy year olds.

« Not impressed with the hotel at all »

Food and drinks very expensive which is fine if it's a standard of hotel that meets the prices, for example £36 for a bottle of sauvignon Blanca, I have stayed in lovely spa hotels and have not paid this?! £16 for a burger and chips, very much pub grub with no salad or coleslaw or veg or onion rings... just exactly a burger and handful of chips, which were not thick cut btw. The toilets off the bar and restaurant area are really poor and no working hand driver, certainly not luxury end of market but luxury prices! Room service leaflet in room but no phone to call room service... confusing! No welcome pack in room to make guests aware of pool times, breakfast times etc. Fan not working in bathroom! Tea & coffee in room enough for a cup each, no complimentary biscuit, no bottled water. This was a 50th birthday gift for me from my mum, to spend some quality time together, we enjoyed our shopping time in Ayr but we will not be back at this hotel for various reasons and I will not be recommending it to family or friends, sorry.
