We are Accor Gold Members and the only benefit we received was a welcome drink. No room upgrade no early rooms and no late checkout . No high speed WiFi in fact we used our 4 g data for most of our time in the hotel as it wi fi cut out every 5 minutes .On arrival I used the bar toilet no working lock on the disabled toilet. Others were disgusting. Our room had a nice view but directly below us were nesting gulls with young who made a racket most of our stay .The food was nice for the meal at night. The breakfast was ok . The COVID procedures were good . We will be back and maybe we will get our upgrade / early check in / late check out/ super fast wi fi . Here’s hoping . The standard answer no matter who you talk to is subject to availability . Sometimes before you even finish the sentence. We are too old to argue our case .

Stayed 2 nights and room was not serviced no clean towels, toilet rolls etc were left outside room either. Key cards to rooms constantly needed re programing. Will not be staying again.

At first sight The Ayr Mercure Hotel is, being a perfect example of a 1960s/70s concrete block less than attractive! HOWEVER The Mercure hotel itself and it’s location are excellent! Whether going to the beach, walking by the river or visiting the town centre all are easily accessible! It is also the perfect base for exploring the wider Ayrshire area. We loved our 5th floor room, the view over the rooftops to Arran and on this occasion beautiful sunset was super. The seagulls were , as you would expect, annoyingly noisy but that couldn’t be helped!! The restaurant was pleasant with tables socially distanced and the choices and standard of food was very good. The reception staff were courteous and helpful and the restaurant staff were friendly, patient and very efficient.

Hotel was fine however must make special mention about the staff who where EXCELLENT”. Only small complaints in that we had two rooms booked ..Room 650 was tiny and not overly welcoming ,unfortunately it had a very strong smell of fresh paint ( though nice to see some refurb going on ) and the plaster was flaking badly above the door entrance . However , “Room 663 which was more was a Supreme room booking was “Superb” . It was a great size with an amazing view and overall highly recommend upgrading if you can .

Good hotel and well situated and food was excellent.

We arrived at 5.45pm and had booked our table for 6.30pm and upon arrival into our room we took a call from reception to say that they had overbooked us and we had to make our way down for 6.00pm. Not an ideal start for our break and especially since the car park was full and I had to use a local car parking. It wasn't until I asked the receptionist about parking and she then explained to me that I could use the side of the building to park but must use the register. All in all we had a good stay but I do think communication could be better.

Really nice staff

Staff so friendly but 30 mins in leisure was not long enough. Clean and well sanitised throughout day.

Wonderful Staff. Incredibly tired hotel.

Let's do the positive bits first - the sole member of staff that I saw was quite frankly a credit to this hotel and the Mercure/Accor chain. Your people are your best asset and this is no exception. The bad bits... Reception area looks tired and dated. Hotel communal areas are tired and dated. Bedroom was tired and dated - wallpaper peeling off the wall or small bits missing, paint chipped absolutely everywhere, decor quite frankly needs updating, and the windows or at minimum the window seals need replacing! Ayr is on the coast, so it gets a continual barrage of wind and even on a moderate wind night (30-35mph winds - I checked), the noise of the wind bypassing the missing and badly fitting seals left me with just 4 hours of broken sleep out of the 9 that I was trying to be asleep in bed. If it wasn't for the fact that the lady on reception was so nice, and the fact that I'd relaxed with 2 beers, I'd have asked for a refund and left during the night! (Drink/Drive alcohol limit is lower in Scotland than England/Wales by the way). I basically had no choice but to stay. Will definitely not stay again until they renovate the hotel... Including new glazing.

Good quality hotel in central location

Had a weekend break here and thoroughly enjoyed. Having stayed in a few hotels post lockdown I thought that the arrangements here, especially breakfast, was the best that we had encountered. Staff were very friendly. Room comfortable with a cracking view out to sea.

Dear guest Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and lookforward to seeing you back in the near future. Kind regards Lindsay
