Nice enough room, tired building and subpar staff

We stayed in a Superior room, which was clean and well appointed. The building itself is very dated and tired, which had a big impact on the enjoyment of the stay. Our evening meal at the hotel was quite basic and unimpressive (I had a sweet potato curry). The bar staff in the evening were not of the standard I'd expect at a 4* hotel. I was brought a lager instead of the IPA I'd ordered. Around 11pm, the staff suddenly announced the whole bar area was closing and we were rudely ushered out and into the lobby. Breakfast was nice, with a great selection of choice. Only complaint is the beans were cold and tomatoes & mushrooms massively undercooked, although this is often the case with buffet breakfasts. I also hope that the hotel can review the plastic packaging used daily, especially in the Marmite pots and individually wrapped Weetabix. Perhaps these can be bought in bulk and kept in storage containers. I think most guests won't mind about portioning out their own spread, if a dedicated spreader is provided. Overall, our visit did not represent good value for money. Our room cost £81 a night, which I know is affected by the premium location of the hotel, but still felt overpriced. Especially when our room was subsidised by the organisers of the wedding we were attending. Some of our friends paid the same but only had standard rooms. I don't know how we managed to get a nicer room, but for our friends the cost of the room was of even poorer value.

Coronavirus Closures

I put satisfied as we still managed to have a nice time spending quality time together. But due to the Coronavirus, Leeds Castle was shut and that was part of my package that I paid for. So instead we got an upgrade for the room, and a free soft drink each. The restaurant was nice but completely empty with only 3 other couples around us, to which the servers didn’t think to keep us 2 metres apart from others as another couple was sat right next to us even though there was loads of space. The food was really good, big portions for a reasonable price! As all restaurants were ordered to shut, we had to have breakfast in our room for no extra charge. Also the pool and leisure facilities had shut due to governments advice. I understand that none of the closures was the hotels fault but I have to give a fair review of my time spent at the hotel.

We had stayed at the hotel in October last year, and had the best experience, the booking was easy, the receptionist was lovely and welcoming. We had a brilliant stay, which is why we booked again this time. However after calling 16 times to initially book here, speaking to three different people, being told I would get calls back etc, not receiving a booking confirmation etc, we probably would t stay again as it wasn’t worth the hassle. Very limited menu in the restaurant.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, breakfast and dinner included. Food was delicious, service fast and very friendly staff. Rooms need a bit of TLC but can't complain for the price paid it was excellent. Used the pool as well, good size pool wasn't too busy during the week only few people came to swim which for us was perfect. Lovely spa break at this hotel overall.

Great staff but hotel in desperate need of a refurbishment

Hotel is in a great location but is in dire need of refurbishment throughout, specifically the bedrooms which are too hot with dates decor and uncomfortable beds and no air conditioning. Fitness, gym and spa area is welcome but again needs updating throughout.

We came to visit for a Sunday night get away and enjoyed the experience. the hotel was well located and easy to find. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The pool area and amenities were also clean and of a good size. The bedroom was a little small and the bathroom could have done with a shower rather than small bath and shower which made things a bit tight

Well located for the wedding we were attending

Administrative error on part of restaurant staff gave rise to staff calling at our room after 10.30pm. The approach was clumsy and overbearing which resulted in our sleep process being disturbed. Error having been pointed out to staff, they then left with no apology to us. The error under review was an allegation of failure to pay for dinner. This was entirely incorrect and highlighted to the staff members. Following morning the above circumstances were highlighted to reception staff with the suggestion of staff training requirements.

No real complaints - hotel was clean, and staff were polite. My only observations were that the bedrooms (well, mine anyway) seemed a bit tired and in need of a refresh. Air conditioning in the rooms would have been good - as it was we had to leave the window open and got quite a bit of noise from people outside attending various functions.
