Great position but uncomfortable bed and noisy fan

The position is really good and the staff welcoming, the problem was the bed where the mattress is incredibly thin and very uncomfortable. In addition, the ventilation fan (not the ac which I had turned off) went very noisy in the middle of the night.

Have stayed with Ibis Cambridge several times recently - happily. Not this time. Room was very tired. Water pressure in shower pathetic. Air con initially didn’t work and when it subsequently cranked up rather wished it had’t. Fortunately, I often use white noise to sleep so having the sound of a waterfall in the room wasn’t really a problem. Window (searching for air con alternative) didn’t open although it looked as though it was meant to. Public wifi non-existent - which was relevant because my phone deemed the hotel wifi so insecure it didn’t even offer a ‘proceed at your own risk’ option.

Close to the railway station

Two minutes walk from the railway station, but a 15 minute walk into the city centre. Room was clean and neutrally decorated. Furnishings basic - only a limited space to hang clothes and no drawers. Kettle, hairdryer and basic toiletries were provided. Due to current restrictions rooms were only cleaned/ towels changed if you specifically requested it. Breakfast was good. Member of staff served you from the hot buffet. We had pizza from the bar/restaurant and that was excellent. Staff all friendly and helpful. There are a reasonable selection of bars, restaurants and cafes around the hotel.

We are conveniently located just outside the train station, and walking distance from the city center. You can also find e-scooters at the station square, as another way to navigate around the city. Our delicious pizzas are available for you everyday until 11pm, and we do take orders food and drinks orders via Whatsapp. We strongly encourage you to join us on a Friday evening for happy hour from 5-7pm, and live music starting at 8pm. Great short stay in Cambridge

Handily located right next to the main train station, and with a great cafe/pizza bar on the ground floor, this is a great choice for a short trip to Cambridge. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The only downside is that the main sights of the city centre are a 15 minute walk away - but apart from that, I can't recommend this highly enough.

I really cannot expand on the above, but with one exception, the wonderful gifts that arrived out of the blue, red roses, chocolates and prosecco were totally unexpected and a lovely surprise for us when we arrived back on the Saturday. All in all, a lovely weekend, shame it rained on Sunday!!!

Another nice stay with the exception of a man waking me @1.10 by banging continually on my door so aggressively and loudly. This only stopped when I shouted to stop! He obviously had been drinking and was banging the wrong door. This obviously woke me up and I became a little scared, however, nothing further occurred, but it did make me think of the security in the hotel and how I would get help quickly if in danger. I appreciate there’s a WhatsApp group, but I could find no further advice in the room. Fortuitously, I didn’t need assistance, but the experience made me uncomfortable, especially as I couldn’t get in touch with reception easily!

Excellent Ibis 2 minutes from railway station

I'd left my car at home and was travelling by train. I hadn't realised how close the entrance was to the station, so a very quick, easy check in with superb staff. Upon going to my room, it was nicely cool (I like a cool room) - with all the usual Ibis facilities. Room and hotel generally were extremely clean and COVID safe. Given its proximity to the station, busses etc. it was also very quiet. My only criticism if I had one was the lack of a proper bar / restaurant. As the hotel isn't in the centre of town, there aren't too many restaurants around, although if you like a curry I recommend the Tawa Kitchen (a 2 minute walk from the hotel) and for drinks there is a very convenient Sainsburys across the road which closes at 23:00 weekdays. There gain is Accor's loss!

I did not stay. I'm a doctor and had a busy week with a lot of commuting on the background of 12 months pandemic. I was phoned by a rather aggressive person two days before my stay to say was I visiting for leisure purposes and that if I was that was against lockdown regulations. As you can imagine I am exhausted and wanted to reduce the strain of the commute. I was upset by her approach and decided not to stay.

Lovely staff but not enough of them

This was a late booking, done on my phone 30 mins before arriving. I had included the dog in the booking process, however and as ever with Accor hotels, they tried to make me pay for him again and the breakfasts I had also included. That sorted all was fine. At breakfast the covid measure ment no buffet and only one young lady serving. When she left to visit the kitchens or deal with guests booking out, some guests started helping themselves breaking all the covid measures. More staff required.

The only redeeming feature of this hotel was the friendly staff and the proximity of the station. However, that's where it ends! I was annoyed that on arrival i was not given any information about health and safety (fire escapes etc). Nor was i informed that there was no room service after my first night, so i was left with wet towels as they had not been able to dry after the first night. The shower was pretty pathetic, and not at all hot. I was annoyed at the tea/coffee situation. They provided loads of nice tea bags and coffee but only 2 milks and 2 white sugars, so i kept having to go and request more (I drink my tea and sugar white with 2 sugars in, and quite a lot of it especially when i am working!) Even when i asked for me, they looked at me as if i was an alien! And had to hunt through all their cupboards to find some. I think for over £60 a night the least you can expect is as much tea/coffee as you like, PARTICULARLY as they were not offering breakfast due to Covid-19. Nor do they offer a discount in their restaurant for people who are staying at the hotel, which most other hotels do. There were no biscuits on offer and no drinking water. I was also freezing cold because the fan was locked onto the 'on' position and i cant stand to be cold as i have an illness and get very unwell if my temperature drops. The manager on the first night managed to turn it off for me and brought a little heater, but the 2nd night it came back on by itself and the lady on duty that night would not come and look at it for me, saying i could do it myself at the panel. when i did do it at the panel it still kept coming back on. After lots of messaging back and forth to her she finally came up and managed to switch it off. In general i think the hotel lobby looks lovely but my room looked run down and the carpet was well-worn and the walls looked like they needed a good lick of paint! I would not recommend staying here at all. I think they need to learn to communicate better, and they need to be more generous with what they supply, especially whilst the breakfast is not on offer. Definitely not worth the money!

clean and tidy. Staff always there too help. Our room was clean and spacious. The whole hotel was lovely and clean. The hotel is lovely and close too the train station. Close too a mini supermarket and 2 bars.

We enjoined our stay and brought a nice breakfast every morning. Easy to get to Stansted Airport by train. Cambridge is a beautiful town with a lot to see. A lot of charity shops in the city center. Very nice.
