BelleAx Couples - TripAdvisor review

We stayed here for 2 nights as it was booked by Trailfinders as part of our NZ trip. The negatives totally outweighed the positives. You have to pay over 30 dollars for 24hr parking in Willis street which is a 5 minute walk. Our The hotel receptionist wasn’t friendly at all. We were told our room wouldn’t be serviced during our stay which is a total cop out there’s absolutely no reason for this. Our room was 801, it was so gross and dirty. There was no air conditioning, just a portable fan. The carpet hadn’t been hoovered. Everywhere was grubby, I don’t think the windows were ever cleaned you could barely see out them! The tea/coffee area was covered in coffee stains. There was a large Guinness/coke stain on the carpet. The shower was old and you couldn’t turn it on full blast as the water pressure was too high for the shower installed and the shower base was metal. The tv didn’t have any sky or good channels but it did have Netflix so I was able to sign into my own account and use that. The wifi kept coming and going and we had to keep reconnecting to it. The bed was very hard and the pillows were very lumpy but the sheets were clean. We found ourselves staying out all day to avoid our gross room. I gave the hotel 1 star for the good location. Upon check out the unfriendly receptionist didn’t even ask us how our stay was.

This place should be condemned - DO NOT STAY HERE!

Very disappointed and shocked at how filthy the room was. We checked into Room Number 201. This should have been set up for 4 adults (2 x separate couples) in a 2 bedroom apartment with a harbour view. Upon entering the room we were astounded that at a time when Covid-19 is still prevalent and hygiene should be at the forefront of everyone's mind we immediately noted the following: the floor was filthy the bench top had not been cleaned the phone was grimy the walls were dirty with paint peeling light switches grimy the cooktop was filthy the switches to the oven and cooktop were filthy there weren't any curtain sheers in the 2nd bedroom insufficient towels (only 2) - set up for 2 no mattress protector on the bed dust and mould on the walls next to the bed broken fridge TV missing from bedroom, holes in the wall missing towel rail from bathroom dirty and mouldy carpets only 2 chairs in dining area blackout curtains falling off rails dirty skirting boards by entrance door and mould mould around windows no hangers in wardrobe ceiling and wall panels in the bathroom falling down We could continue to list many more issues. This room is definitely not fit for purpose and should be condemned and reported to Environmental Health. We are Accor Members and well travelled. This is the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in and I am sure that if Accor knew of these issues, this accommodation would be shut down. I have attached a few photos for your information. The receptionist was amazing and fully understood the issues. She was shown the photos and could not believe how dirty this room has become. She was not able to offer any alternative as the place was full. Fortunately for us we were leaving early the following morning. The receptionist provided us with a bottle of spray and wipe, a face cloth and tea towel to clean up the worst areas. She also provided us with a double duvet to use as a mattress protector and 2 additional towels. The car park is too small to fit a large suv, which is what we hired and we were not warned that our car would not fit. We then became stuck and the receptionist tried to assist by getting other guests to move their cars so we could get out of the car park. We then moved our car to Wilson Car Park.

I wouldn’t stay here again!

Absolutely awful, dirty, mouldy and dusty accomodation. The first room I got the windows didn’t close and it was very tired and dirty, I asked to be moved and basically got the same room 2 floors down (but the windows closed). My view was scaffolding, it was badly insulated and noisy.

Great location. However, the cleaning (what cleaning)!!! The windows all required a good clean, inside and out. All the cutlery, glasses and cups had not been cleaned since their last use. All surfaces felt sticky and the carpet had numerous stains. The shower had a very strong smell of bleach but was clean. The bed was OK and the sheets were clean and no extra pillows in the room. Also full length mirror in the room would be nice.

The hotel was centrally located, a short walk to Cuba St, Wellington Cable Car and the museum. I was extremely disappointed that there was no wifi even though it says there is. The staff member was helpful but still no luck - was told others were complaining about it for a while too. Bed was comfortable however the room was not made up - told the usual story of staff shortage however there were 3 staff at checkin. Great coffee shop across the road called The Hangar that did a fabulous breakfast.
