« OK »

Our overall stay was OK & would consider to stay again. However, our experience was: On arrival at check in time our room was not ready. Therefore to help us out (15min later) they moved us to another room. It appears they did not update their hotel records which created other issues. The dining room was confused with our room number. Our room was not made up as they had our room as not being occupied. On a minor note, no news papers on the first day as advertised. We enjoyed our stay at Gerringong but it was soured a little by the hotel's professionalism. It is the little things.

« Greeted with a lovely smile. »

Emily had everything ready for us at reception and gave us all the information we required regarding the room, the restaurant and local surrounds... all this with a lovely smile. We had travelled through the recent bushfire area and needed an overnight rest before continuing our journey. We enjoyed Mercure Gerringong so much that we will be back for a holiday stay and yes Emily was there in reception to say goodbye with that lovely smile again.

« Meeting family after the fires »

Our family met at Mercure Gerringong. It was relaxed and lots of fun for children to play in the pool area. Rooms were comfortable and very clean, with ample space. Accor welcome drinks much appreciated. We enjoyed hope with the kids in the garden and adults loved the after dinner drinks and specialty dessert. A welcome break after fire emergencies

« This should not be an Accor hotel »

Unfortunately our stay was very disappointing, the beds are horrible and are completely sinking, room service was very slow and our room was not made up until 3.40pm which is not good enough. The pool was closed due to cleaning and when I asked if the kids could use the vacant adult pool management refused. Breakfast at Bella char was hopeless with one person running the whole restaurant and many items not available, not even cutlery. As an Accor hotel it was definitely not a 4 star hotel, also the photos online are not current. Staff were unhelpful. Steer clear from this place.

« Disappointed »

Although the name suggested it is Mercure Resort, don't expect that it is a resort. In fact, it is more like a nice motel. Like an Ibis with a Mercure brand name. Yes, the room is big, it has microwave, fridge, tea, iron board, writing desk, a sofa, flat screen TV, writing desk, a balcony and even a toaster but it lacks the following. Yes the "resort" has a few pools, a tennis court, a spa and a restaurant but.... 1. There is no concierge. In fact, there is only 2 staff at most sitting inside a room called "reception room". Don't expect anyone to park your car, take your luggage or greet you. 2. The reception closes at 8pm or even earlier. If you arrives late (which most people will), better book ahead or call them in advance. 3. Reception staff was OK. Just doing their job but you can find any bank teller did as good or if not better. 4. The duty manager, not sure who that is but he or she must be very busy with this hotel that they will not bother to greet you, even if you are loyal customers. 5. If you are Accor loyal customers, don't expect to receive any recognition except drink voucher if you are lucky. No offer for upgrade, late check out refused, no welcome amenities. Nothing from the management to the point that I don't even know if there is any. 6. Room have recently updated. But, there are things just not right. E.g. Where are the power points? Where is the do not disturb sign? No in room breakfast? Where is the phone? 7. Restaurant - The only restaurant there serving buffet breakfast (same everyday) and dinner (no Accor Dining Benefits) 8. Swimming Pools - feels abandoned. No one clean leaves. No one give towels. No one serves drink. 9. Curfew between 9pm and 9am. They literally put multiple signs telling you to be quiet between these times. Fair enough not to disturb bother guests but I have never been to a "sleepy" resort after 9pm 10. Credit card surcharge is expensive 1.5%!! And you did not give us other options as there was no ATM around. There are a few positives though 11. The cleaning staff (lady helped me to set up the sofa bed) was very friendly. I only wish all the staff there are like her. 12. Room is clean and aircon is cold. 13. There are drinks and snacks in the mini bar. 14. WiFi is free and good speed. Overall, as a regular traveller and Platinum member of Accor, I was very disappointed. For $270 a night, I expect a good 4 star resort service and facilities and you had shamefully charged me for this price but failed to deliver. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad motel but it is not the only motel around and in my view not a resort that valued loyal guests.

« Mercure Gerringong »

Staff were very friendly and helpful despite the limits of resources available to them. Grounds and pool need upgrading. Not much to do on site for kids. The rooms need additional equipment - no where to dry out towels.

« great trip in a budget »

booked on a spur of the moment decision. Keisha at the reception was so welcoming and nice. location was great, room was clean and had a small kitchenette, though we didn’t cook. overall, it was great on a budget rate.

« It is not up to the expected standard »

We stayed her for 5 nights as a base to play golf. It is billed as a resort but it is really a motel with a pool and a part time restaurant. The staff were helpful but the bar was not open past around 8pm and not at all during the day (and some nights) and the only place to eat / drink locally is 'The Bowlo' (around 15 minute walk) The rooms were a bit 'tired' but okay. The room came with a toaster but no plates or cutlery. Reception runs limited hours so don't plan to check in late or check out early. We left at around 7.30 am and dropped the keys in the box. My card was charged and it was over-charged by around $600. I asked three times via email for the invoice so I could check it and eventually got it. They had not deducted my Accor point that I used to part pay for the room. I have pointed this out three times now but still no response. I am sure I will gt this sorted but it leaves a bad taste.

« Not a resort »

I know it was Boxing Day but the lack of restaurant/bar facility was disappointing. Also the kids area was closed. Finally the air conditioning unit in room 212 was very noisy. Why not putting screens on Windows so that we can have them open at night?

« Very Enjoyable »

It was a last minute decision to stay, only booking a couple of hours prior to arrival. As an Accor member I tried to book online but had trouble finalising it. So rang reservations. Got Accor reservations who were very helpful. Just one little problem with saying breakfast was included but it wasn’t. Think it was lost in translation. The hotel staff were amazing and went out of their way to sort the mix up and explain. Couldn’t fault the staff and the hotel. Breakfast was the usual Accor style. Nice but not overly exciting.

Nice room BUT Office unstaffed from 8pm until 8 am. No sleep possible due to noisy party until near midnight with visitors coming and going. There is an "emergency'' phone number with a minimum $60 call out fee. I decided probably not an emergency . Next day gave feedback to Office who said it would be reported to the manager but have heard nothing since - so just bad luck I guess

« Recent stay sunday night. »

This is a very well appointed country style resort, It was a little surprised to see the effect that the drought is having on the gardens and grounds. We did have difficulty getting to the webpage to use some of our points. and the dining room was closed on sunday evening for dinner The room was very well appointed and comfortable. Very Quiet. Well worth a return visit with dinner.

« Disappointing birthday experience for what husband paid. »

Title sums up, but left with feeling of disreppair, a resort that could be fantastic but was let go with very little maintenance and care factor! Could have dismissed the deception of advertised 'ocean views' (which could not even see ocean}, if hotel was great! FIrst impression not good as drove in with weeds over 1 foot high. First room gave was ground level with deck planks lifting sighting a safety hazard ( I am also in a medical boot for foot injury, which could have gone very wrong! ) requested change. Daily clean not done, reception did not answer and phone fell apart trying to call them. Cleaner came, changed towels and replaced with dethreaded holy towels, made bed but did not wipe around dirty benches or replace any items! Reception did not even bother to ask how our stay was!...just as well we say.

« Relaxed atmosphere and comfy rooms »

Hotel is located in a quiet zone, ideal for relaxation. It's short distance to shops (10-15 min walking), medium distance to the beach (15-20 min walking). Pros: Rooms are ok, within the expected under the Mercure umbrella. There is plenty of seats here and there to enjoy with family. Swimming pool looks fun for the family, and there is a small pool for toddlers. Cons: Restaurant is a little pricey, you may want to go to nearby restaurants. We also found the kids playground under renovation, but there is no warning at the accor web page or any email SMS or other advising of this situation. Management, please let guest know in advance about this situation.

« Very disappointing experience for a Mercure »

the entire hotel needs a refurbishment desperately - probably about 9 years too late already. our room was a good size, the bed was comfortable and the complimentary tea and coffee great. However, i had to close the full curtains the entire time we were in the room as it faced the neighbours driveway and people were looking straight into our room. the fence is so low, there was no hedge, no tree, no bamboo fence - nothing to stop the neighbours looking in. the carpet in the room had 3 big dirty marks. the bathroom door was dirty and had water damage at the bottom. the bath was damaged and had chips off the paintwork. there is a great table but no chair to sit at and even after we asked for a chair so as to work on the laptop, none arrived after a few hours. the adult pool was very dirty and neglected with broken chairs. the dining room has wall paper peeling off where the breakfast food is served, and it needed a paint job years ago. the garden behind the dining area looks like it hasnt been tended to in months. Breakfast was very disappointing - the eggs were awful, the muesli very old. The dinner was of a high quality and made up for the breakfast - even though they ran out of prawns on Saturday. Generally, the hotel is really sub standard and quite a shock to be part of Accor group.
