The room was overall good however the spa bath didn't work (the jets didn't turn on) and the mirror frames were old and peeling.

Very pleasant view from our room 120 on the balcony, my husband played golf, nothing for me to do, but stay in the room. It would be good to have a spa etc to enhance the visit. Breakfast was delightful well presented and added to the experience. The balcony had a lot of cobwebs, room was very clean inside. We did receive a phone call to check we were coming the day prior, we were asked about red/white wine that would be left in the room, I explained that we did not drink alcohol, no problems we will leave chocolates. Wine in the cooler on arrival. I guess communication fell down.

Your hotel charges rates similar to metro hotels and only provides customer service until 6pm. Checked in at 3pm and could not get any food. Went down for breakfast at 9am to be told by staff that they are in the process of closing the restaurant for breakfast. We were told during check in that the restaurant is open for breakfast between 7am to 10am. Extreme disappointing that we had to go elsewhere to get a hot breakfast. In summary expensive hotel which lacks 24 hour customer service.

Comfy room. Not impressed that our room was still not available even though we were only 1hr earlier of book in time and they were still cleaning rooms at 2pm including ours.

Our two night stay was very pleasant. We had a comfortable room with a great balcony view across fairways and greens to the coastline. The welcome we received was exceptionally good; thank you Sam, who was at the reception desk. The customer service from everyone at the hotel was first rate. We enjoyed a buffet dinner on Friday evening and a good breakfast on our second morning. The hotel is conveniently located for walks locally and for visiting the town of Sorrento. We would certainly stay here again.

This 'hotel' is nestled inside a Golf Club / course. There are strict dress codes if you want to enter the bar and eat in the clubhouse. There are rooms for guests and rooms for members. There is no gym or pool. The front desk closes after 6.30pm most nights and there is a skeleton staff on after. There is a large car park which you share with the members of the golf club. If you love golf then this is the place for you. They also do weddings, conferences and other special events here. It is quite a quiet spot after 6pm [if you don't include neighbouring room noises :)]. Negatives: [not to do with the actual hotel] Members treatment of guests - I had 2 not so nice experiences - one where a member was referring to buying a 'girlie drink' and I pulled him up on it, jokingly but his response was to refer to me and link to the 'me too' movement in a rude way. The second was overhearing 2 male members standing on the balcony above my level 1 room - complaining about rubbish being left on the floor including cigarette butts - low and behold rubbish and a cigarette butt was flicked down onto my balcony. Members should be as responsible for their rubbish as the guests are. Positives: Staff: I cannot commend any higher the staff here as they are genuinely brilliant and caring. Add knowledgable and helpful to the mix. No request was too small and most left the desk to come and solve any issues promptly. They also remember people's names too. Massive shout out to these front desk staff: Sam, Maddy & Peter: A+++ Handy men: don't know their names, but very friendly and happy to have a laugh [hope you got to fix the fly wire screens once I was gone]. Restaurant staff: Hamish, Caz and another lady who worked most shifts with Hamish A++ The room: *Level 1 room *2 beds pushed together to make one [standard across the world] and was really comfy and warm *The bathroom small, but perfect for one person. Great water pressure in the shower and enough of the accessories to keep you happy. They have a 'hang up towel' policy to save the environment or leave on the floor to clean. *Other room items: Mini bar, iron, safe, hairdryer, spare pillow and a blanket, phone that works, storage good, desk space, basic tea and coffee, kettle, complementary wine on arrival and a chocolate from the Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery [see separate review]. functioning TV [could get all the channels] and air con / heating [great]. *Guest info book was really informative. Suggestions for restaurants at the front desk worth asking about. *Balcony enough for at least 2, with 2 chairs and a table. Nice to sit there late afternoon [Tip: take insect repellant for mosquitoes and sand flies once out and about] *2 sets of blinds, one blackout and one partial *Not that sound proof *Wifi just right for the needs of the holidayer. Interesting: The restaurant set up: my room had breakfast included, which was good as the going rate for the selection of items was an average of $20+. There was a Nescafe coffee machine and tea making facilities. But I recommend paying $4 to get a coffee from the coffee machine at the bar if you are a connoisseur of coffee like me :). There is a bar and self serve chilled water distributers. Juices are not self serve, they are poured by the staff behind the counter. What I recommend for breakfast: The bircher muesli [$18] was by far the best choice of the breakfast selections, followed by eggs your way [was like a big breakfast $25]. or the smoked salmon, spinach and creme cheese & poached eggs [$25] was very nice but not the bagel that it came on. They also have a snacks type menu for lunch and afternoon tea, but stops around the late afternoon mark - I can highly recommend the chips and the egg and bacon roll. [Yum!] You can also order some of the menu items to your room, but again there is a time limit as they are not open in the evenings. There are so many great places to eat in Portsea and Sorrento and surrounding areas, why would you stay in?! Fridays is a special members dinner - guest are invited, but have to book a table in advance [not sure of there is a cost]. The type of meals will vary, when I was there it was curry. Thank you for a great stay and we will see you again in November.

Lovely, clean, comfortable. The views were beautiful, and we loved the balcony - it’s small but it makes you feel like you can bring a bit of the outdoor in. I enjoyed the delicious custom-made breakfast and coffee. I much prefer this to the RACV breakfasts which is far too much, and seems so wasteful. The resort was close to both Portsea Hotel and Sorrento Back Beach, which I really liked. Will definitely come back.

Hotel cancelled booking at 24 hours notice

Cannot describe my experience as I didn't get to stay there. Received a call the day before informing me that a room wasn't available anymore due to maintenance. We were transferred to another hotel (Portsea Village) and given the tiniest room imaginable. Also we were now no longer entitled to a cooked breakfast - as that hotel has continental only. When I highlighted the inferior status of the new hotel room, the argument I got back was "the Portsea Village room costs more than what we had paid for the Mercure Room". Of course it did - it was a last minute booking for a Saturday night! Eventually was able to book another, larger hotel in Phillip Island at an inflated last minute rate, so cancelled the Portsea Village booking. Was offered a refund for Mercure Portsea and a return stay at a later date, however one week later I am still waiting for both of these to come through! All of this for my wife's birthday weekend trip. Extremely disappointing and frustrating to say the least.

A little disappointed

Room was small but clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the breakfast left a lot to be desired. The cooked breakfast was cold, and the bacon was like leather. Also the Accor discount did not apply.
