« Didn't live up to expectations »

This was a huge disappointment. We booked a deluxe suite. The description and pictures implied something quite different. It was confirmed as a spacious suite, it was not my idea of spacious. It was pokey, dark and brown and the only windows were the windows on the French doors. So not much natural light. It was a small lounge area, no lamps in that area, unlike even most hotel rooms. The coffee table had stains on the wood. This led onto a bedroom with a queen bed, it was not a spacious bedroom, there was only room for the bed and luggage. It is good to note that you can't open windows, as there are no windows. You can leave the doors open on a verandah you share with other guests and have no security To say the least, the rooms were charmless, not old, not modern, somewhere in between. I was so disappointed that we only stayed one night of the two we had booked. It should also be noted, that whilst it is in a beautiful location the "suite" we had, looked out onto a not very attractive building. However there were other accommodation with harbour views, but by no means do all the rooms have views. The rooms only have ceiling fans, and you can't leave the doors open, there are no fly screens. So to leave doors open means no security and mosquitoes (which there were). The reception staff were pleasant, however there was no point having an accor membership. I was told my silver didn't qualify me for a welcome drink, that this wasn't really an accor property. After quite a long discussion she did offer me vouchers, (but there were no vouchers) so I didn't bother. They are obviously used to people being disappointed with their rooms, as they were extremely efficient when I expressed my disappointment and offered me another room. (I saw them doing the same for another couple later in the day.) They were also very pleasant about me leaving early. It has certainly left me with a bad feeling about the Accor brand, and I'll think twice about booking Accor again.

« 20th Wedding Anniversary »

We chose Q-Station because we had stayed two times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room they allocated us backed onto bush land with no view of the harbour and no direct sunlight on the 2 metre wide verandah, however, we were fortunate to view and be visited by fauna in the form of dragon lizards and brush turkeys, that we could befriend if we wanted to. The room was quaint and nicely attired included a hand basin and mirror with private outside bathroom and toilet and a separate toilet as well. The atmosphere was quiet, serene and peaceful, without cars or traffic. The views of Sydney harbour are spectacular from Q-Station. The small beach is safe to swim in but deep. The Boilerhouse restaurant is a must - one of our most favourite restaurants in Sydney. Q-Station is close to Manly and Shelley Beaches and public transport is available to transport you there. We loved the stay and the shuttle mini bus staff were warm, friendly and professional indeed; one in particularly played classical music as he drove you to your room. Beautiful. JF

Hello Paradise274842, Thanks so much for writing such a detailed review of Q Station, and rewarding us with 4 stars! So glad that you met some of our local wildlife, they are usually very friendly as they are used to sharing North Head Sanctuary with us! Being on the National Park itself is definitely a very serene and peaceful experience, a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the general Sydney lifestyle. I'm so happy that you enjoyed the personality of your heritage room, we put a lot of pride into maintaining the site to be as original as possible. We are certainly very lucky to be positioned on a National Park with Quarantine Beach at our footstep, and the views over Sydney Harbour are certainly incredible. Thanks again for your detailed review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and enjoyed your dining experience at The Boilerhouse Restaurant & Bar! We hope to have you back soon! Kind regards, Lachlan - Marketing Coordinator

« A most enjoyable time involving tour, dinner and breakfast »

Very comfortable rooms with beautiful bathroom and amazing views of our harbour. Six school friends celebrating a special birthday. The dinner in the Boilerhouse although quite expensive was tasty and different. Breakfast was adequate but we felt the staff member should have had more help topping up hot food/bread, condiments etc. Coffee making machine not very efficient.

« Overnight break »

We enjoyed visiting the area very much for a quick overnight break away from the normal busyness of life. Accommodation was very clean and peaceful. Breakfast was wonderful and we had an interesting ghost tour.

« Enjoyable break away from the normal day to day living. »

The deal offered to us was very good. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was was plenty and enjoyable - the staff were unable to keep up with the demand. Limited areas at the station for lunch and what was available was expensive. Evening meal was really nice, just not a lot of it,and again, expensive. To spend $80 on a meal for two and walk out hungry is not what we expected. Would suggest that the massive stair structure to the restaurant have high vis strips fitted to the front edge of each step. When walking down the stairs the colour of the steps run into each other and it was difficult to identify each tread making it easy for miss judge the step and fall.

« Relaxing Weekend »

We stayed for one night as part of a NRMA deal and it was a really great experience. We are at the Boilerhouse on Saturday night. The food was delicious and the staff exceptional. The tour on the Sunday morning was very interesting and I highly recommend staying at the Q Station

Mostly very good. Our CEO's and Board liked it so much we may come back next year rather than go to Adelaide!

« A lovely mid week escape »

Everyone was friendly and very helpful. We thought the little bus was a great idea and we thoroughly enjoyed the history tour and museum. The breakfast was fabulous but maybe a little crowded with regard to the table and chairs arrangement. If we had 1 complaint it was was the pillows. They were quite uncomfortable. Softer ones would have been nice.

« Boring, lack of restaurants »

We arrived at about 3:10pm & after the check in process, we found that the Boiler Room Restaurant was booked for the evening so we had to eat at the Engine Room Bar. Over priced limited menu & no place to eat our meal indoors where we could stay warm. It was cold. We paid too much for a cold meal. We will never be back. A Station was advertised on Luxury Escapes as a Luxury destination which it is not.

« Escape »

Overall it was a great experience the staff were friendly and helpful our breakfast was delicious and the location was amazing except for the weather I was very disappointed with the sofa bed it was very uncomfortable and not suitable for an adult I asked for a topper as I felt I was lying on the spring’s but the topper was so thin and certainly not worth the extra $30

« Luxury Escape-not »

My friend and I chose a cottage because we wanted cooking facilities. The cottage was totally unfriendly for people with even a slight disability as the first lot of steps leading to the cottage had no railing and the shower was over the bath with nothing to hold onto so we had to go without and use washers to clean ourselves. The hotel tried to find us something more suitable but there was nothing available with cooking facilities.
