Having been ALL – Accor Live Limitless and Accor Plus members for several years now, there's a standard we've come to expect of Accor's hotel portfolio, and sadly the Mercure Brisbane King George Square has missed the mark. Whilst the staff and concierge were friendly and helpful, and even the food at the downstairs Goldfinch Restaurant was fantastic, alas the rooms we stayed in (we booked 2 for our family of five) left much to be desired. The rooms looked old and tired and in dire need of an upgrade and refurb. The couches were riddled with weird stains that I don't want to know about, and our pillowcases had footprints on them. Our toilet was constantly running, which was kinda annoying and noisy at night to hear the fill-up of the cistern kicking in every now and then. The TV system could benefit from an upgrade - would've been nice to have access to apps like Netflix or Disney+ built-in, like in other Accor hotels/resorts we've stayed at. One thing that bugged me most was that we were "forced" to have our car valet parked. When we stayed at the adjacent Pullman hotel a few years ago, we were allocated a car space (in the very same basement car park) and were free to come and go as we pleased through an allocated keycard. When we told them we wanted to park the car ourselves they said if we did there was no guarantee we could get a car space each time we came back after going out. Now as it turns out, by forcing everyone to valet park, they park guests' cars beyond the carpark's capacity. And at $50 per car per night, that's just one HUGE cash grab in my book! Another thing was that the rooftop pool is advertised as being heated when it actually isn't, so my wife was shivering when we went for a dip. All in all we probably would not come back to this hotel.

Stayed for five nights, two rooms. found standards have declined dramatically at this hotel. The rooms were very tired- carpets damaged and need replacing, bathrooms tiles broken at the edges etc. cleanliness not up to standard. Around the pool near the planter boxes was filthy with broken glass etc. Pros- comfortable beds and quiet dark, rooms, a self service laundry, convenient location. The worst aspect of our stay was the service. Staff generally unhelpful, exhibited a poor attitude, didn’t want to be there, were not helpful or friendly. The Dutch lady at the front desk gave our our private contact details to a third party who then proceeded to harass us. We complained about this to management, who apologised. This same lady then refused to serve us the next time we were at the front desk; she turned and walked away and talked to colleagues instead of assisting us. Staff member at the pool deck bar was positively hostile. Unbelievable. Housekeeping was almost non- existent. One day our room was not made up at all. Phone line to reception didn’t work, would cut out after a few rings. Was very difficult to get fresh towels when our room was not made up as the phone was never answered. Tea cups were not cleaned for days. Tea bags not replaced. Beds were made so messily, it was comical- my 5 year old makes a matter bed. On one occasion a staff member let himself into our room without appropriate notice. Goldfinch restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay apparently due to a flooding incident. That whole end of the reception was dark and dingy due to no lighting. It felt horrible. Breakfast was served in the bar which again was dark and dingy and needs to be refurbished. Service during breakfast was again poor, no engagement from the staff and you had to clear a dirty table to sit at. Again the staff didn’t want to be there. At the end of our stay we asked concierge if they could collect our bags from the room and he told us to use the trolleys and do it ourself. We asked if they collect bags from rooms and he responded with ‘if I’m not busy’. We asked ‘are you busy now?’ given that there was no one else around and it and he said ‘no’ so again we asked if he could collect our bags and he reluctantly agreed. Will not stay at either the Pullman or Mercure again (have previously stayed at both multiple times). This place needs a massive clean up- full refurbishment along with staff replacement and training.

Location great, service fantastic, let down by the rooms which are looking tired especially the bathrooms - discoloured silicone in the bathrooms is never a good look and there were a few rogue hairs in the shower as well

I've nothing to complain about, which is what these forums are usually for. The staff and the quality of the rooms were all up to standard, but what sets this hotel apart is the rooftop bar. Great ambience, and a marvelous way to end the evening in the beautiful Brisbane climate.

3 nightstay. The room was not made up after the first night. No bed was made for the second night, bin liners removed and not replaced, the toiletries were not replaced. Twice during the stay I felt unsafe due to people walking in to the restaurant.

Check in and check out staff were pleasant and efficient. On check in, the female staff member tried extremely hard to find a room with a walk in shower. This was appreciated. As a Platinium Accor Plus member, very little recognition was made of this status at check in. There was no offer of a room upgrade or a later check out. The room was a three star standard and needed a refurbishment. The bedding and pillows were comfortable. There were no comfortable chairs for seating. Complementary buffet breakfast in the restaurant was a surprise with many choices of hot and cold food. Excellent service in this restaurant. This hotel is in the CBD. It is close to public transport and all retail outlets. If you just need a basic hotel for a short stay, this is the hotel for you.

Tiny room, very dated. Car parking ridiculously expensive (charging guests $50, can park across the road in secure overnight parking for $10) VERY average customer service at the desk. No recognition from front desk and waiting delft waiting there with not even a glance - one simple smile can make a big difference. Would not recommend, not worth the price

Nice little hotel, mid level standard but matched by value. In the heart of Brisbane, excellent valet parking available. Easy access from major roads. Great access to all city facilities. perfect for a few reasonably priced nights in the city.

We have stayed here a few times and really like the position. The staff also are very efficient. My room upgrade was appreciated and the room was a good size and bed very comfortable. The buffet breakfast is very good quality for this style setting. The roof top bar is great and well worth a visit. Overall a very enjoyable stay

Valet parking was a joke, Had to que up in line fon the street for 15 mins, had to wait 20 mins to check in to the hotel and check out was not much different and had to wait 20 mins for valet to bring my car around as it was not parked in the car park.

Always enjoy staying at this centralised location.

Another quick trip down to Brisbane successfully completed. Nice quiet room with a very comfy bed away from the street noise. Excellent evening meal in the restaurant and an enjoyable breakfast before booking out. Can be a bit expensive if staying long and requiring car parking but convenience makes it worth it.

Booked for last minute one night stay, was given 15th floor executive room. Very small and bathroom was tiny, could barely move in shower without hitting shelf. We were directly below the rooftop bar/pool. Upon calling reception was advised that the bar does not close till midnight, thumping base music was not in the plan. After this staff needed to drag furniture across roof to tidy. Finally got to sleep at 1am. they did offer to see if there was another room, I was too tired to move at this stage. Check in was amazing. Check out was horrible. Had late check out, went to room 10 min before checkout to grab bag to find we had been locked out, trip to reception to be told well what do you expect, you need to check out soon. When finally checked out staff member did not ask how stay was, was very blunt and rude and treated us like we were nothing. Advised her of the issue previous night. Upon waiting for car, we noticed that customer checking into Pullman were treated with more respect than those at Mercure. Not very happy with overall service. Parking is way too expensive at $50 a night when we later found out you can park at Myer centre across the road on weekends for $10.

Great accor hotel. Been there before. Had a few issues regarding the breakfast. Was told it was buffet when it was ala carte. But the magnificent staff and the chef came out and sorted the issue with great results.

This a special occasion for a special couple. The hotel staff reportedly went out of their way to make my friends feel comfortable from the receptionist, car parking, welcome fruit platter, to the sumptuous breakfast. Exactly what one would want from a favourite hotel hosting special people. Thank you!

Apart from a small blip with our first room, our stay was lovely. From the high standards and service received from the staff, from not only front desk staff at check in and concierge but to housekeeping and restaurant team. Would recommend and stay with them again.

The location of Mercure King George is it's saving grace. It's central, close to public transport and offers a valet service for parking at a reasonable mid-week rate. BUT, aside from the grand foyer entrance, once you step on the lifts you can already feel and smell that your staying in an outdated hotel. The lifts have this old never steam-cleaned carpet. The corridors are riddled with cut-out plaster in the ceiling. The rooms have random scratches on the walls and the furniture has peeling plastics. The bathroom had non-functioning mirror lights. The rooms were reasonable size but the tiny and very dirty window cannot be opened. While the room service did their job. I was surprised that we weren't even provided with bottled water (a staple at any other accor hotel I go to). As an accor member you are provided with free wifi but not at the Mercure King George, they charge a minimum of $10 a day. Finally, everywhere I stay I get an email with a guest satisfaction survey direct to the hotel management, of course I didn't get one from the Mercure (They're obviously not taking any criticisms). I will not be staying there again.

Centrally located hotel giving easy access to downtown Brisbane & Southbank. The room was clean & certainly treated to ensure it was Covid-19 free. The night was topped off with drinks at the Hotel's Rooftop Bar with spectacular views of the city.

My wife and I recently had a lovely nights stay at the Mercure Brisbane where everything was fantastic until the end. I stupidly left my book in a Cab on arrival at the hotel. I arranged with the driver to drop it into the hotel next morning. Unfortunately that did not happen until we left on the next stage of our trip. I was assured by the hotel rep I talked to that the book had arrived and that it would be kept for me for when I passed by in 3 days time. On arriving to pick it up as arranged, the book was no where to be found. I can only semis that the book either was thrown out or taken by someone. It seems that staff are unreliable at following through on customers requests and cannot be trusted to accomplish simple tasks when not in the normal line of operations. This is a very disappointing outcome to what was otherwise a enjoyable stay! Colin Baldock Accor Plus Member
