The original room they booked me into was unclean and not serviced properly. Bed was made in a rushed untidy way, tiles in bathroom dirty, alot of noticeable wear and tear also. Manager moved me to a cleaner room

Having been a frequent guest at the "old" Madison Motel I chose to stay at this site again as we had tiling being completed at our house and needed bed for a couple of nights. On entering the building from the back car-park I was alarmed at the condition of the carpet on the floors and stairs. On entering our room, 212, the first thing that I encountered was concrete cancer near the light switch, which looked like it had been generated from the bathroom behind, which to my eye looked like a potential electrocution problem. There was a plastic cover, possibly a shower cap, covering the smoke alarm, which I guess was someone trying to smoke in the room without detection. The room was tired and unwelcoming and the bed was old and needed replacement. There were many more faults which I have not elaborated on, needless to say we did not stay the second night at went to the Apollo Motel nearby, which was far superior for the same room rate. If you want to keep the standards that I am sure Mercure would expect, these faults should be fixed immediately before there is a death or you lose all of your customers due to lack of recommendation our bad reports.

We have undergone refurbishment in many areas and with refurbishment still ongoing we look forward to sharing the end results with our guests. The majority of our Standard queen rooms have already been updated as have our standard kings however it is a long process and we still have some to do. Our hallway carpets were done a few years get ago and get a lot of traffic so we carpet clean them regularly and i will be sure we attend to them and the other issues mentioned this week. Please always feel free to contact reception during your stay should you have any issues and we will promptly assist to ensure you have a great stay. Staff were friendly and helpful but the room was a little disappointing. We had one normal size towel that had stains on (looked like old dye stains) and a very small towel so requested more. The shower head is positioned in a way where the entire bathroom floor is covered in water and you need a towel to mop it all up. The blanket in the cupboard has someone’s hair attached to it so we didn’t use it. The beds were comfortable.

Booked a room with a bath. Pics made the bathroom look huge, particularly the bath. Was disappointed when saw real life size. The 5G tower being so close was also was a concern for me. Noise from other rooms/hallway is quite loud, as was the fridge. Cant say i felt like i 'got away' and fully relaxed in a nice bath. Did feel a bit ripped off for the price. Sorry.

I travelled from remote NSW and stayed here for a hospital appointment at John Hunter. It's close easy access to there and surrounding shopping centres and beaches. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were comfortable. Bus stops at c.f. the front.
