I stay at Mourisco Mercure hotel since over 10 years. It is well located near the Pao-de-Açucar mountain and the Botafogo Subway station. The hotel provides all the amenities, with good breakfast. I would like to thank in special all the attention that Diogo (@reception) gives us, it does make us feel at home, and willing to come back.

Mercure Rio de Janeiro Botafogo Mourisco Hotel needs urgent renovation. Floors, bathrooms and furniture are old and uncomfortable. Additionally, the rooms that face the front of the hotel are very noisy. Additionally, the staff tried to move us to another close by Accor hotel because it was overbooked. We have spent weekends here multiple times and this, by far, was our worst experience.

Shower takes a long time to heat the water and waiting causes smoke that triggers the smoke alarm

The hotel room was well equipped and really comfortable. Conveniently located, nearby my office. The work desk is pretty ample, enough to set up my 2 working laptops. The very only drawback (which I believe may apply to me only) is the quality of the food on offer. For example, The breakfast is mainly composed of things I do not like (breads, hams, cheeses, sugary stuff). The only options I had left were fruits, eggs (which I grew tired of), and sweet potatoes, from time to time. And, the room service menu never changes, always the same options & are not that appealing to my likings, either. I really struggled with the food available while in the hotel, and just hope that the hotel’s management makes the effort to start offering a better and healthier variety of food items. One more thing to look at is the cleanliness of the carpets in each floor. The carpets looked pretty dirty (and a bit smelly too).

Our stay was incredible. We were surprised by the room (906), by its enormous size (almost too big! haha!) and its beautiful view of Cristo Redentor. I honestly had no idea we'd be treated to a view like that. Our room was cleaned to perfection every day. We also loved the breakfast (always my most-anticipated part of staying at a hotel) and the breakfast staff were so attentive (especially Marcia--what a wonderful woman!).

The hotel is well located, room is comfortable and spacious! There Is a swimming pool, nice! Internet works properly! Area of breakfast it’s good. The only point is the room service! You always have to ask to clean the room when you leave, even with the door sign that the room is available for cleaning.

Bad: - after a meal, the customers leave their plate in front of their door in the corridor side and sometimes it is picked up only 24hours later. Smells horrible, very disgusting. - even the water from the minibar is not free, what kind of cheap hotel does that especially that you cannot drink from the tap water - the two elevators are not synchronised so it takes ages for it to arrive at the level.

I had a good experience. The only thing missing was a coffee maker in the room. Since we were on quarantine it would avoid direct contacts and make it easier on both sides. On check in, i requested a upper level room towards either side with sun exposure. Since i was there booked by my employer i noticed they seem to leave the better rooms for private costumers. So i had to ask to switch rooms because mine were faced to the wall and with a smaller balcony. My stay was for 6 days all paid by the company, so we should get the best rooms because we are guaranteing bussiness for Mercury.

Conveniently located for both Centro and Zona Sul. The only problem would be supermarkets close 2 pm on Sundays, yet nearby shopping malls are on walking distance. Metro station is also near. Be careful on complicate one way.
