Disappointing MGallery Hotel

This hotel is fairly centrally located in Interlaken. Unfortunately, it is on a stretch of road where buses, cars and numerous motorbikes travel, often very noisily, throughout the day and early evening (there are other hotels along this same road where traffic is limited). We stayed in room 102; a Baroque styled room which was somewhat tired and in need of refurbishment. The bath tub was not operational (and when we inquired as to why it wasn't working we were told it was for decoration purposes only), the door to the bathroom did not shut properly, there was damage to the parquet in the room ... The room had a balcony, which although promised much gave limited views. The view towards the alps was very restricted because of the Hotel du Nord, the shops and trees opposite. The balcony was shared with other rooms, which meant that the door/windows could not be left open overnight allowing only a small amount of ventilation (the Baroque style rooms are without air-conditioning; a fan, however, was provided). Breakfast at the hotel was good, but evening, a la carte, meals were disappointing and to our minds overpriced. Restaurant staff were friendly. 25 swiss francs a day for parking and 20 swiss francs per day for a small dog. Overall, we would not recommend this hotel. We honestly query as to why this hotel is included in the MGallery collection; it does not have the ambience we usually look forward to.

We were impressed with the hotel generally. Great location, beautiful rooms and good breakfast. We would have expected a little more attention to detail in terms of service given the star rating and price point, however. There were two extra beds in our rooms which was a nice thought but we indicated in our reservation that the children with us are very small so we didn't actually use the extra bedding provided and it did take up space and I imagine was an extra hassle for the staff to set up and remove. We also stayed while there was a hot water outage. While we understand these things happen and were told the maintenance crew worked diligently to address the problem it was irksome to have to be constantly calling the desk to ask for updates. I would have expected to have been proactively contacted to be alerted of the problem, the subsequent delays and offered solutions. No hot water while traveling with children was especially inconvenient and it could have been made less so if I hadn't had to call and wait to get through to the desk so many times. So overall a good stay given the other positives, but I'm not sure we would come back (although hopefully another time we would not encounter the same issue in any event). Kind regards, Sarah

Excellent stay over a busy holiday weekend

We were extremely happy with our stay at Royal St. George's. It was the Easter weekend during covid restrictions and staff carried themselves professionally and provided an excellent level of service, despite how full the hotel was and complications dealing with covid. Great service, lovely set dinner menu, great bar service, highly recommended. Thanks staff for a great weekend trip.

Not a 4 stars experience- pictures are not reflective of reality. Staff is either rude or just confused. Food is mediocre. Bed is big but unconfortable. Rooms are big but badly isolated. The roof shakes when people walk and everything shakes so difficult to sleep...

Wonderful journey

It is an excellent hotel. Perfect room service and nice staff. Administration gave us advice about the district and answered our questions. There was a very delicious food in the restaurant at the evening and on the breakfast was a great choice. Room were clean and new with amazing Mountain View. I recommend this hotel.

Clean large and modern rooms, breakfast is ok, SPA needs renovation and hotel staff are very nice and helpful. But: We confirmed a room with balcony through the phone but were given a room without balcony, had to complain to finally receive the room we asked for. Reception also failed to book a table at the restaurant for us when we requested it.

Booked the Junior Suite. Was not very easy to get to the room (complex) nor were we offered any assistance to find it. Room was nice but far from Junior Suite. Service very mediocre. Breakfast and Dinner at the Brasserie was a positive experience though.

The hotel is well located, within short distance of the train station. It is a beautiful historical, but renovated, hotel. The price/quality ratio is very good! The restaurant however is less qualitative in terms of variety of food and ingredients. The breakfast was not excellent either but satisfactory.

Dear All, I was just so disappointed, I wanted first to book my room online and the system failed, so I called the hotel and a nice guy told me he will book it for me. The following day, without news, I called back the hotel and no reservation was made, I had to insist to have the initial price. Once there, the receptionist told us that the restaurant was close because it was Sunday, but on Monday evening when we wanted to eat, the restaurant was still close due to the lack of customers, Why on Sunday we have not been informed about it? During the stay we wanted to call for room service with the phone of the room but its wasn’t working or no one picked up the phone, we had to call the main reception with our proper phone several time until someone finally pick up. We requested ice cubes and when we asked for more, the service guy really showed us it was bothering him. In the room the refill of Nespresso capsules have been made with more decaffeinate capsules than others when initially we had 2 Guatemala, 2 normal and 2 decaffeinate. Additionnaly I asked for one double bed and it was 2 beds aside that always moving appart. At the end of the stay, I’m shocked that I have to pay 50 CHF for the parking when it says parking for quests. During COVID situation I don’t understand you don’t take more attention to the few customers you have, the hotel was empty and the service really poor! Very friendly and accommodating staff! overall great stay. Some of the rooms are a bit outdated and could do with some renovation (i understand that this might be difficult during the pandemic). Also I didnt get any sleep due to a noise coming from somewhere in the hotel close to my room. This was particularly frustrating as i had an important exam the following day. All in all I can definitely recommend staying at this hotel! Breakfast was delicious with a large variety at the buffet.

This was a beautiful hotel, the room we had was really, really nice. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The location, for us, was ideal and parking was good too. The only minor niggles we had were , due to Covid, the restaurant was closed and the bar was closed on Sunday night. We don’t know why, so we missed out on our complimentary drinks.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the hotel. The room was immaculate and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Given the current Covid-19 situation, we felt safe and secure and appreciated all the measures that had been put in place to ensure we could enjoy our stay and feel relaxed in such a lovely environment. The team is so kind and helpfull , it is great to feel welcome any time . I recomend this Hotel , especially the bedrooms with Air condition are very large and with balcony on top . Only the Bar should get this direct link to the ice to the small garden .

awesome breakfast

staff was very nice. the only thing this hotel misses is a gym. I would have loved to just push some weights given that gyms are closed in my country. but in general when you go to a hotel you usually want to wake up and hit the gym before visiting attractions.

Excellent and professional reception and welcoming. As Diamond holder we have been upgraded into Royal Suite that was very nice and spacious. Location is perfect and from there so many places to visit and activities to move on from a day to another. We'll for sure come back again in the future
