We stayed for several nights and it was complete bliss. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, the rooms were well stocked and very clean. All of the staff we encountered were helpful and very polite and kind. We only had one meal which was breakfast at the restaurant, but there was plenty to choose from and it was all very fresh and delicious. Location wise it’s smack bang in the middle of the city, so it’s easy to walk everywhere from there.

The welcome was not as warm and friendly as it usually is. There was no regard for our loyalty, not even the offer of a bottle of water - on arrival or on departure. There was no offer of any kind of upgrade or access to the lounge or any sense that we were valued customers. Even the valet parking has changed - where it was previously complimentary for an electric car (because there was no provision to charge our car) but that has changed to only fully electrical cars - a reduction in service. We left thinking perhaps it was time to consider a different hotel.

You have touched on a number of key elements and I appreciate the detailed feedback. The lounge upgrade and room upgrades are subject to our business volumes. That is probably the biggest change, we have ramped up with open borders faster than expected and our products and pricing, and adherence to our upgrade rules have had to respond. The change to charging for hybrid cars is a direct result of an increase in the third party costing of the parking we pay for ourselves which increased 10% in April. What a delight to have experienced the yellow bellied flounder it was fabulous and the galaxy dessert made my eyes pop - great to have such quality. Loved the room, really appreciated the quality bed and linen. Thank you. I was starting to get despondent with hotel stays and you turned it around!

Excellent staff who looked after us. Lovely room and good amenities. I am so pleaded we stayed. I thought breakfast was good+ but a little disappointed with dinner menu for my taste. The fish was cooked perfectly but little in the way of choice for vegetables which was a shame.

No one greet me and get my car key from me when parking in front of the hotel entrance because I had rented a car and would like to park in the hotel parking. I had to drive away again to give way to a cab to pick up AirNZ staff. Bad experience!

Used our Accor suite night upgrades to get the second best suite for a very reasonable price, as a treat for our wedding anniversary. Everything went very well. Nice breakfast each day with a la carte and buffet options. Dinner one night at Jardin which was very pleasant. Took advantage of the club lounge each evening, the selection of snacks was very good. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

I simply cannot believe that a Sofitel hotel thinks its OK to close its restaurant on a Monday - for any reason. And it was made worse by not even advising customers in advance that there was no dining service.

I understand your feedback about our restaurant being closed on a Monday but there is one reason we can and do close. We dont have the staff to open it. The commercial returns for opening on a Monday are significant especially as we ramp up to being really busy on Mondays now. No one wants to see our restaurant closed, especially me, when I am the gatekeeper for the guest experience and the profitability of the hotel. Only last month we increased our pay rates across our waged staff by 7-10% across the board. I can only hope this significant change will attract and retain the team we need to deliver on every aspect of our hotel service, every day. I am really sorry for the impact it had on you Mr S., and please be assured I am working hard with the resources we have to resolve it. Disappointing breakfast

My new wife and I were staying on our wedding night and while the room was very nice, especially because we were given a complimentary upgrade, the package we booked included a breakfast in room and the food that arrived was beyond disappointing. We took a picture and showed it to our family and they were as shocked as we were. Given that we purchased this package to enjoy our breakfast in room as newly weds, this poorly presented and poorly prepared breakfast tainted our whole experience with Sofitel and I’m not sure we will be returning.

Further, I am in receipt of the direct email you sent to our hotel email address but resourcing and time have meant I havent been able to address your stay until now. Upfront and without reservation I apologise for the breakfast. My ktichen team have said that the inclusions were as ordered by yourselves but my response having seen the photos was that the portions based on the fact there were fewer items requested could have been heartier and filled the plate. The fact its a vegetarian breakfast doesnt change the value people have paid for it, I agree this wasnt at all to the value you should expect from us and for that I apologise Sir. We have let ourselves down and we have been hurt by your score which moves our presence online and changes how people buy us, a huge price to pay for the easiest attention to detail. Very disappointed with our room. TV is located on side of the room so could not watch it face on. Only one chair provided. This is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. When checking out we noticed we had not been charged for our dinner. We let the receptionist know and expected it to be rectified. We spent about 15 minutes having to go through dockets, again unacceptable for 5 star hotel. We were given no thanks for our honesty. On a positive note we enjoyed our meal and our waiter was lovely. The gentleman that looked after our car was also very helpful.

Staff are super friendly and professional. Room was outstanding and service teams were on great. Very happily stay here again next trip to Wellington. Bed was amazingly comfy. Great location, nice to not be in the thick of Courtney Place with the hustle and bustle.

Loved the whole stay. Hotel, room, staff, drinks, food. Will book again next time. The standard of the furnishings and attention to detail on fittings and decor is wonderful. The bar service was very accommodating and we loved the breakfast. Should have had dinner as well.
