Nice Sanctuary Villa

Nice sanctuary spacious villa. overall good, Need to upgrade pool tile and cleanliness . Air-con water leaking at Villa 1 hall. This villa have a few nice bird species e.g. Peacock , Parrot and Oriental Pied Hornbill. Nice experience, especially the peacock dancing on roof top.

Didn’t felt much warmth from service staff

Out of all the hotels we have been to, the service from the front line staff has to be the least satisfactory. But the housekeeping staff are great.

Relaxing stay

It was a nice and relaxing stay at this property on weekdays. Food at The Cliff was good and service by certain staff around the hotel was above-average. Special compliment to Eric of Front Desk, Rahman of Concierge and Taib of tecnical services. My only gripe: The glass door and terrace of my ground floor room could've been better maintained.

I won’t be returning again

I had booked one Prestige Suite and two luxury rooms for our family staycation and called the hotel to ensure that I could get connecting rooms. The staff I spoke to told me the request has been made but did not inform that it was not possible to have the luxury rooms connect to the suite and in fact, the suites and luxury rooms are in separate wings. I was only informed about this when I checked in. At the front desk, whilst I was checking in, I reminded Megan, the front desk staff who checked me in, that I had also asked for a baby cot. She then disappeared into a back room for 10 115 mins and informs me that a cot will be sent up shortly, which seems to me that earlier request for a cot was not actioned till my reminder. When we got to the suite, we were surprised to hear loud noises, as if we were right next to a construction site. Neither Megan or the other front desk lady who walked us to lift lobby had mentioned any construction work going on in the hotel. We opened the suite’s curtain and lo and behold we were indeed next a construction site and an excavator was digging away. I had to speak to Eric the front desk manager to get the rooms changed again and move my family of 7 over to the new rooms. This whole fiasco just ruined everyone’s mood and the start of our staycation. Didn’t Megan know that the side of the hotel was right next to the construction site? Why weren’t guests informed beforehand that construction was going on in parts of the hotel? Why did the hotel place me next to a construction site knowing that I have an infant and toddler who will nap in the afternoon? Why was I placed next to a construction site when other alternative rooms were available? The breakfast situation at Kween Zeen was also unsatisfactory. It is clear that the hotel is understaffed and the existing staff aren’t well-trained either. I had drink orders that were not delivered, the server manning the dim sum section would ask guests gruffly “what do you want” and then use his gloved hands to dig the dim sum out from the bamboo basket instead of using tongs. I ordered watermelon juice and the server (perhaps in a haste to serve me) quickly throws away an empty carton of juice into a bin liner on the floor and without washing her hands or changing gloves proceeds to pick up the watermelon to juice it until I stopped her and asked her to change her gloves. The hotel also did not reverse their deposit on my card until five days after I had checked out. And the charge was only reversed after much hassle. I had checked out on Sunday. On the following Thursday I was corresponding with Nigel and I asked him if the charge had been reversed. He says it has been done. I then called my credit card company’s credit team and was told Sofitel had not reversed the charge. I then wrote back to Nigel again and finally received confirmation on Friday that the reversal was done. All in all, this was a very disappointing experience and I will not stay with Sofitel Sentosa again. Having said that, the front desk, Eric and Nigel were helpful in helping me hold on to my kids’ medicines which were left in the room’s fridge and notified me to collect them. Thanks for helping me with that.

Could be better.

Spots of the room seem old and dusty. missing bathing amenities and have to request for them. Sink stopper seems to clog the water drainage, have to remove it, maybe the mechanism to lift it is faulty. The staff are responsive and great though. Buffet meals at Kwee Zeen were dissapointing.

Overall happy with the room, pool and dining experiences. Beach was easily If only the booking system was more reliable. Got too many replies from staff that they couldn't find our reservations. Had to search the confirmation email for them. It was not a good feeling.

Nice hotel setting, but service was generally not good enough

The hotel itself is very nice - the setting is very nice and the pool is great. But the service was disappointing. When we checked in, the receptionist failed to explain everything that was included in our package, such as use of the children's play area, meaning we didn't get to use it until the last day. We had a second room booked as other guests were joining us and the receptionist this time did not give them the vouchers for lunch/dinner so we had to go back later to ask. We regularly saw plates/bottles/glasses/food leftover from room service sitting outside people's rooms for many hours. In a room next door to ours, there were dirty plates and bottles left there for over 4 hours. We had to ask reception to clear the plates. I'd be amazed to think during those 4 hours that not 1 staff member walked past and thought to clear them. The rooms are very dated and definitely in need of renovation. In 1 of our rooms, the bathroom tap was leaking so pools of water regularly formed on the counter. In the other room, the shelving below the TV had been removed from the wall leaving the holes exposed where it had previously been connected. In The Cliff restaurant, the service was always very slow but it was particularly on our last day. It took 1 hour 10 minutes for the first of our mains to arrive (the dish that notoriously takes a long time to cook...pizza). The other mains then came out one-by-one over the next 20 minutes. We asked at least 5 different staff members what was taking so long and each of them said they would check but no one ever came back to tell us what was happening. Our meal took so long that we ran out of time to have our dessert so we had to take it to-go. Even then we had to ask the staff 3 times why it was taking so long to pack. The waiter had either messed up our order or the chefs had forgotten to cook it, but rather than be honest with us, the staff chose to try and avoid us. The table next to us arrived long after we did and had finished eating their mains before ours arrived. We won't ever choose to stay in this hotel again. They charge 5-star prices but don't offer 5-star service.

From the booking, I accidentally booked wrong date and just need to adjust date, hotel asked me to pay double for last minute changes. When checked in, nobody at reception around 8pm. Visited buffet restaurant, it seems service was just so so. One of the part timer was great called “Abi”. I think that was the only positive feedback. The room looks Long time nobody stay. Had couple of drinks at Le Bar. They didn’t accept Cash. So I had pay by my card. I was waiting the cashier settle a few other guests bills first. So rude. Anyway, it was a very bad experience that I have been. I don’t think I will come back any more.

My third stay with the property and as Accor Gold Member, I was upgraded from the lead in luxury room to Prestige suite, which has a huge living room. Sentosa is perhaps the only place in Singapore that can give you the overseas travel vibes and Sofitel Sentosa is the only one in the island that gives Bali Resort feel. If you get a room rate below $300, it’s a very very good deal for such location and vibes. Being Accor Plus members, the breakfast is 50% for two, and that’s less than $25 per pax. The buffet line is back with decent choice of food with peacocks joining you occasionally. (But there’s one that will jump onto your table and eat your food so don’t be too friendly to them)

Room was fantastic, stay was great as the resort environment is pleasant and ambience is great. Food choices for vegetarians was limited (expected) BUT quite surprisingly, at the buffet breakfast chef refused to make vegetarian noodles/fried rice on request. Never experienced this in my hotel stays in the past as chefs always accommodate vegetarians requests as the overal menu is limited.
