« Great food, lovely room, generous service »

I left my bathers in the room, which ended up in the laundry. I was very grateful when I came back two days later that they could be located. I appreciated you serving dinner up to 8.30pm allowing time to catch the sunset at Ubirr. Territory resident rates in the wet season are very much appreciated. The room was comfortable and we appreciated the up grade. The food was delicious - can’t wait to come back again and we have told loads of our friends what a wonderful stay it was. Thank you

« Great stay until checkout »

Staff were great , room nice, food good but too expensive. Pre-approval hold on credit card was not netted off against the total which is what it is designed for. Instead I was asked to pay the whole bill. There are no mini bars so there is no justification in this. Although you asked the bank to release, the bank refused and made me wait nearly 2 weeks. This in unfair and you just had to net off, but you knew that anyway and misled me. This has changed my opinion of the hotel from being a supporter in the Darwin community to warning people about your practice.

« An older hotel, but excellent staff for the most part »

We stayed at the hotel from 29 to 31 December 2019. While the rooms and facilities were older, they were well-maintained and clean for the most part. What really stood out for us was your staff - the lady who checked us in was fantastic, as were all your staff in the restaurant. Unfortunately, we did have one unpleasant experience with one of your bar staff and another staff member. On two separate occasions, we noted this particular staff member, Jen, as the 'less friendly one' because she was so different from all the other staff members we had encountered. In the first incident, we were still staying at the hotel and we asked if it was possible to fill up our water bottles at the bar. Jen obliged, but my partner remembered her as she appeared to disapprove of the request and carried out begrudgingly. We would not even have remembered this or the staff member except that we then had another less-than-stellar experience and it happened to involve the same staff member. In the second incident, we had already left the hotel but came back the following day to see if lunch was still being served. It was quite late in the day (3pm or thereabouts), so we waited at the bar to ask the staff if lunch was still available. Jen and a lady in a green shirt (who it turns out was from Accounts) were behind the bar, with Jen making coffees and the lady in green chatting to two locals. We waited patiently, but in the five minutes we stood there, neither Jen nor the lady in green had even greeted us or acknowledged our presence. At this point, we prepared to go and the lady in green then turned and said "She'll be with you in a minute" (referring to Jen) and walked past us. We were quite frustrated by this - in our eyes, a bar staff member had just spent five minutes ignoring us to chat to her friends and had then walked off. We were later informed by the manager on call at the time that she was from Accounts. While I understand that this was not her area of work or role, it would've been really appreciated if she just had've briefly stopped her chat with the locals to tell us that she was in Accounts and that the other staff member would be with us shortly. She may have been aware that she was not bar staff, but we were not and I feel it was very rude to deliberately ignore us rather than just simply letting us know. After the lady in Accounts walked away, we then spent another few minutes waiting patiently for Jen to finish with the coffees so we could ask if lunch was being served. When one minute passed, then another, we got the picture and left. We decided to mention this to the manager on-call as we still had no idea whether we could get lunch or not and nowhere else in Jabiru was serving - we'd missed lunch and were very hungry. We'd also realised that Jen was the same staff member we'd received the poor reception from earlier in our stay and concluded it wasn't a once-off experience. I'd just like to reiterate that, apart from these two incidents, all the other staff we encountered were fantastic, from the room service staff who always greeted us as we walked past, to the restaurant staff. Our experience at the hotel was really lifted by their conduct and we really appreciated it.

« Staff were friendly and the restaurant was exceptional but the hotel is showing its age. »

Staff and restaurant service were on point, food was very good. The room cost was considerably more than a modern hotel in darwin at the same time which I had stayed in days before (darwin city hotel, argus hotel). So I expected a similar standard of modern facilities and condition. I was disappointed with the air conditioning, there was no dedicated unit in the room and the temperature was 25/26 degrees and adjusting the controller made no difference. At these room temperatures and the beds were fitted with a thick blanket which I found odd. The walls were quite scratched up in places, ceiling flaking of paint, doors and handles heavy and dated reminding me of a classroom door when I went to primary school and Im 34! The bathroom well, talk about mirrors. Features like the clothesline and the ancient wall mounted torch by the front door, I'm sure would've been great..back in the day and if they weren't broken but they only serve as a reminder of just how worn out and dated the place is. To walk around the hotel the gardens, the pool area to the resturant are great condition and well maintained looked after, but the the walk up the stairs to the guest laundry or the drive through out front tells a different story. The cobwebs in the ceiling the wornout paint, the stains. I read in the book that the eyes of the big croc glow red at night.. do they? I don't know but theres a few louvres missing. Head office needs to drop some decent money into that place. Its a special building and requires some special attention. I think in the off peak the room rate shouldve been lower and I would have been more satisfied. And atleast a queen bed instead of being shoved into a room with two doubles, that would have been nice too. Anyway I hope to return at some stage and plan more preparation and alternative accommodation, like a camping spot. The Jabiru town centre didn't have much to offer and I had a negative experience at the petrol station with an asian women over tomato sauce I used on a pie, that is only intended for hotdogs. Needless to say I bought my fuel at pine creek after they charged me .60c for that sauce. So when I say the rate was too high, maybe it's encompassing the whole business centre and not just your hotel. I apologise for the whinge but thats honestly how I felt about the whole Jabiru experience this week, the natural aspect of the park was amazing and entirely worth the trip. The business centre aspect was regretful. But your hotel is a giant crocodile thats awesome or maybe just alot to live upto. I wont forget the pork ribs and beer. 10/10

« Wished we stayed longer!! »

We've stayed in some amazing hotels around the world but the Kakadu Crocodile Hotel has got to be one of the best! The architecture is a brilliant tribute to the awesome Baru! Entering the croc's mouth brings you into the lobby entrance which is super spacious with a modern luxe design. Beautiful indigenous artworks are everwhere and the in-house art gallery showcases amazing local artists. The outdoor tropical landscaping and pool area are gorgeous, a great way of bringing Kakadu into the hotel grounds. We tried some entrees which were seriously tasty and desserts which were nice but would've been better if they had more dessert options. The hotel staff were absolutely lovely, thank you Belkis (hope spelling is correct) and Blue. And finally, as they say: Location, location, location - this hotel is located in Australia's largest and most stunning national park!!! Kakadu, we love you!

« Good value, room was clean and comfortable, food is amazing »

The staff are what make this place, really need a facelift, pool not clean enough. Christmas lunch was great value, lots of everything. Room was clean and tidy, the airconditioner was an issue as every time it cycled (20 minutes or so) it was like a plane taking off.

« Insightful and unique »

I was pleasantly surprised to find aged but suitable accomodation for our stay in the area which was recommended by a Kakadu scenic flight male member. Loved the inclusion of the aboriginal artworks displayed throughout and actually witnessing a prominent elderly artist at work in the foyer gallery area. However a male staff member completely floored me when he persistantly requested "having a go" as he took the paint brush off the artist. The artist's silence spoke volumes. The actions of that ignorant man devalued the artists painting in my eyes! How thoughtless! We only stayed one night, had a complimentary breakfast and uniquely Aussie dinner of crocodile and kangaroo, first class, compliments to the chef. Great experience and the lovely friendly girls serving in the dining room added to it. Rate was reasonable with brekkie thrown.

The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a poolside room, which we truly appreciated. We loved looking round the art gallery and the craft area, and reading about the artists.

« Considerate reception staff »

When I checked into the hotel and got my room, a couple of minutes after arrival the phone rang. Reception had noticed I had been placed in a room between an extended family group with a number of young children. Josh at Reception had arranged for an immediate room change as he was worried that if the family were a little noisy that I might be disturbed. I really appreciated this thoughtful consideration in advance of settling in.
