Cat C Business - TripAdvisor review

I stayed here for 3 days when down in Bridgwater for work. Already I am planning a return to both stay in this hotel again, and to walk in the beautiful local countryside. The hotel has provided everything that a guest could possibly need: Welcoming, friendly and efficient reception staff. Classy and well equipped bedroom and bathroom. Loved that the hangers in the wardrobe were proper hangers and not the fiddly, annoying ones now so popular in many hotel chains. Excellent toiletries including hair conditioner so just no need to pack your own toiletries unless you prefer. Well insulated windows so although my room was next to the busy main room I wasn't disturbed by traffic noise at all. Plenty of charging sockets and a good light over the working area of the desk. Huge bed with good linen. Iron and ironing board. Excellent room service if you prefer to eat in your room. If your order amounts to £20 or more, then room service is free. Otherwise it will be a £5 charge. Downstairs is beautifully designed and at the moment it is also pretty with the Christmas tree and lights. The bar area is also well designed and makes good use of glass and mirrors to create a very pleasant atmosphere. Excellent breakfast All the staff are warmly friendly and welcoming. The hotel is well run and provides an excellent service to its guests. I'm looking forward to returning for a leisure break and enjoying this hotel again.

We have stayed here before a couple of times. This time we were given a room which was smaller than the ones we'd had previously. OK as as we were only there for one night but missed the armchair etc which was in the previous rooms (no room for one in this room). The staff are pleasant and particularly the breakfast lady. We had a drink in the bar after returning from a meal. The barman was very young and seemed inexperienced. There weren't many people there and he obviously wanted to close up as came and asked if we wanted any more drinks. As we left I saw a mop just behind the bar but in full view of the seating area. Seemed like he'd been mopping his bar area but would have been nice to have waited to put it on view until all the customers had left. The interior of the hotel itself is clean and seemed well looked after though one lift was out of order. It was a shame that a large external planter at the junction of the nearby traffic lights but in view from the bar/dining room, was very unkempt with brambles and an overgrown buddleia. I'm not sure whether the local council or the hotel have responsibility for it but it's not a good advertisement for the hotel. We also found the light banner which is in the bar area advertising externally Christmas bookings.externally very irritating as it's continually moving.

Fantastic stay

Loved this hotel, staff were so friendly, room quiet and really comfortable and food amazing. Definitely going back. Having the Marco Piere restaurant on site adds to the ambience and made the stay special.
