Comfortable accommodation but breakfast was not good.

Just enjoyed a wonderful two-night stay at this lovely hotel. We have stayed many times since this hotel since it opened and have always had great service from the efficient & welcoming team and although this stay was our first since the necessary COVID changes the quality & experience of our stay this time was no exception. The breakfast was excellent....if anything enhanced in quality through not having the help yourself buffet bar but instead the hot option being freshly plated while you wait by a chef. We also had one three-course evening meal which included a Sirloin Steak which was cooked exactly as requested and all dishes ordered were fresh & tasty. Our weekend included an afternoon tea for four people which provided us with a lovely variety of sandwiches, fresh scones with clotted cream & jam and speciality cakes including Carrot Cake, Cheesecake, Sachertorte & delicately flavoured macaroons. We are booked for another stay in December and can’t wait to return to enjoy the wonderful hospitality in this hotel.

We checked in late in the evening, the first room we were allocated was not clean. The walls on the side near the desk were all scuffed, and had what looked like blood stains. When I rang to change room the lady on reception was a little annoyed that I was asking for such a thing. They did upgrade us to a room, but being honest the price we paid is not worth the quality of the hotel.

I have investigated your comments with my Housekeeper who was made aware of the issue when she returned to work the morning after you reported it. She would like me to pass on her apologies for a misunderstanding between the housekeeper who serviced the room and our Maintenance Manager. Apparently the stain was wine which we were informed of by the previous guest and the room should have been placed out of order by maintenance until such time as it had been cleaned and then painted over. We appreciate your sharing your concerns and have implemented a new procedure to try and minimise the chances of similar issues occurring in the future, it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. everything was perfect for my stay. The hotel was very clean and quiet. the bed was very comfortable. the hotel was well located across the road from the bus station, with buses going to London and Taunton and plenty of shops, bars and cafes around. The staff were very friendly.

Lovely hotel, ideally situated for local amenities within walking distance of local restaurants. Ideal if like myself you have mobility issues. Did not realise that the parking was bookable so a bit concerned as there are no disabled bays, but this was easily sorted on check in and was able to reserve parking for the two nights we were there at a cost. Room was well presented with a comfortable bed. No bath but a big walk in shower with a normal shower and a rain fall head as well which felt indulgent. The only thing that let it down was no furniture on the balcony, which made it unusable as was hoping to sit outside with drinks in the evening. I understand that everyone is concerned about covid and we did feel really safe as the precautions taken are excellent, but just one suggestion is that the towel situation was a nightmare and the only towels available on our second day were very small and being of a bigger build it was very difficult to get dry. Bearing in mind Covid has put restrictions on the serving of a buffet breakfast I think that the hotel dealt with the situation exemplary. Hand gel is put at points where equipment is touched such as the hot drink machine and all the continental selection is individually wrapped and there is still a good variety of options. We found the full English to be of excellent quality and this was served by a very friendly and helpful chef. The waiting staff are constantly making sure everything is replenished and areas are sanitised. All the staff with which we had contact were extremely helpful and cheerful. Al, in all a great stay and we would use this hotel again.

From check in l knew we had picked the right hotel it was covid excellent the room was spotless as was the restaurant and bar all the staff were top class and friendly the only minor complaint was being told at checkout that meals and bar purchases add d a charge to the total but if l had paid by card or cash at purchase this was not the case

We stayed for two nights to break our journey on return from holiday in Cornwall. Bright, well-equipped and comfortable room although we were disappointed with the quality of the bath towels.

Very nice and clean hotel. Staff superb and evening meal excellent. Bridgewater is a bit run down and not much to do locally. Only disappointment with the hotel was no bread or toast available for breakfast, due to Covid restrictions. Cooked breakfast and other options were ok though.

Fantastic staff and extremely helpful making the stay v enjoyable !

Lovely stay, felt like they took the COVID restrictions seriously and felt safe. We chose bridge water as it was centrally located to the areas we wanted to visit. Free parking across the road from the hotel.

Restaurant staff extremely helpful, pleasant & professional. You do need some more comfortable pillows as we asked for some soft ones but they were very lumpy. A supply of fresh bin bags would be helpful too.

I was disappointed with my stay and will be using an alternative location in the future.

My room was very nice with a lovely shower, however, it was situated on the main roadside and the noise disturbed my sleep. When I attended the restaurant in the morning I was asked to wear a mask despite being in the food area. When I checked out there were two gentlemen talking to the same reception colleague not wearing masks and not socially distanced. Which I raised with the reception colleague. If you are going to have rules please ensure they are enforced and consistent.

I was sorry to hear that the traffic was noisy on the night you stayed, normally our triple glazing reduced this to a level that most people don't notice it, however we do have rooms located on the other side of the building which you are welcome to request should you stay in the future. I apologise on the receptionists behalf if the directions to the overflow car park were not as clear as they could have been the temporary road closures should not have effected your route unless there was something additional added we were unaware of. Should you decide to stay in the future you will be please to hear we have secured additional onsite parking so the number of space we have will be dramatically increasing before the end of the year. I appreciate your comments regarding the masks, we are asking people in the restaurant to wear them when they are moving around the area which is in accordance with the current guidelines. Regarding the 2 gentlemen at reception, I'm not aware what the specific situation was, if they had declined to follow our request or had a reason for not wearing so will follow up with the receptionist who checked you out. As I'm sure you'll appreciate we make every effort to advise our guests on the current guidelines and the team are spending a amount of there time trying to inform guests even though we have no powers of enforcement. Spent a weekend at the Bridgwater Mercure Hotel and had a very pleasant stay. The staff were all very friendly and approachable any little problems were promptly dealt with. The social distancing and safety measures were all very well managed and made us feel safe. Had a meal in the restaurant and this was very good. Special thanks to Neil on reception as one of our party had an "incident" and he dealt with this very sensitively and professionally.

Hotel was nice, location is a different story, you step out of the posh reception onto a run down street full of fly tipping mattresses and people drinking and smoking on the streets. The only faults I could give the hotel itself would be that the gym was closed which they didn’t tell us when we booked and the receptionist told us a different time for breakfast so we ended up missing it one of the days.

Upon walking in first of all I was greeted by standing in reception for 14mins to be then made to feel that I was a pain for waiting to check in room was not very good to start very small for a superior room. But then went back down to reception where this young blonde receptionist was a totally different person very well mannered swapped are room and actually made me feel like a guest in the hotel instead of an inconvenience. Also had a problem that the tap snapped off in the significant other hand... tap was not fixed and room wasn’t cleaned got fed up asking for bottle water as was made to feel like I had done something wrong because the young man was reading a book... no tea coffee fridge had no items in. The hair dryer was missing and when phoned reception had to wait another 20mins I know the COVID has hit hard but surly if u can’t run a hotel like that at half staff.. last time I stayed amazing but this time sadly I was very very disappointed and tbh felt embarrassed flying my other over from Ireland not the best impression to be left with

I'm sorry if you were delayed on arrival, we have only ever had 1 Receptionist working when we have 30 arrivals over the course of an evening so I'm afraid it must have been a coincidence that a group of guests arrived together which caused your delay. The mini fridges are provided for our guests personal items and are only stocked with complimentary beverages if guests book our Privilege rooms which offer a range of additional features such as complimentary soft drinks, the room you were allocated can be enhanced to include these additional items so sorry if this caused any confusion. In an attempt to be as Covid secure as possible items such as the tea bags and milk portions, that can not be sanitised between guests, have been removed from the bedrooms and are available from a station in the lobby to ensure we minimise the risk of virus transmission between guests whilst still offering an unlimited amount as we would have previously. Likewise as explained in the welcome letter in the bedroom, to minimise the exposure of our guests and staff we are only cleaning rooms every 5th day unless otherwise requested. I'm sorry if you were given the impression that you received a reduced service due to Covid19, please rest assured that whilst we are all adapting to the "New Normal" our guests (and team members) safety and well being is it the forefront of our minds whilst we try do as much as possible to provide the same level of service we did previously.
