I'll start with the positives. The hotel is in a well placed central location. It has a restaurant and a bar. That's where it ends. I spied two 'short' hairs in my bathroom. One on the toilet and one by the basin, otherwise it seemed clean. It was 10pm. I had just got into bed (I was on my own), and suddenly I heard the door unlock and a man came into my bedroom. I shrieked and was terrified. He quickly apologised and retreated. I rang down to Reception to tell them what had happened, jumped out of bed, got dressed and went to go downstairs. I felt exceptionally vulnerable and very distressed. When I came out of my bedroom, there was a member of staff outside, apologetic. Reception, I believe, had made the mistake of giving him my room. I had no choice but to go back to bed, but it was horrible. The next morning I told Reception what had happened. They apologised, and that seemingly was the 'end of it'. No offer of any token gift or deduction for what I'd been put through. A bottle of NZ wine would have been nice, but nothing was offered. Since then, and continuing my tour of NZ, I didn't feel safe. I made sure all hotel doors were locked/bolted from the inside, and if there was a chain, I put that on too. It worries me, as if I fall, or am taken ill when alone in a hotel room, how can emergency services get in if needed? It is something I will always remember, and I'll always continue to lock myself in. And just to add insult to injury, when I went down for breakfast, the restaurant had no record of me or my room number.

Had a great stay!

Great location, easy walking distance and also easy access to the motorways to get in and out without stress! Comfortable room at an affordable price. Reception staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Nice Hotel with One Big Exception

Nice, modern hotel with clean rooms. The breakfast buffet is very basic but adequate. The biggest negative for me is the thin door between rooms that are intended to be connected for families. My room had one of these doors and my neighbors were up all night having a party. Even with ear plugs, I was awakened a few times. I had to dress, knock on their door, and ask them to quiet down. It worked for a while. The hotel should replace these thin doors with solid, soundproof doors like other quality hotels do. Check out your room before you unpack and ask for a non-connecting room if you want to sleep soundly.

Just a place to sleep

The rooms needs a good spruce up. The shower was so small that the door opened onto the toilet. The photos sown would be very old as not much is a good as shown. The location is good but quite a little noisy could hear the neighbors on their roof top plus the traffic noise from below. Definitely no fancy trimmings even had to ask for another toilet roll..eek! The staff were friendly enough but not very idea of approx how much taxi cost to the airport..would of though that a given for reception in any hotel

There’s definitely better hotels

Rooms definitely in need of a spruce up. The bathroom door looked like it had been punched and was severely damaged. The windows when ‘closed’ let in a lot of street noise - heard the pedestrian crossing beeping half the night! Despite other reviews, I found the Wi-Fi very poor which was disappointing. Breakfast wasn’t too bad and the bed was fairly comfortable.
