Disgusted

I checked in the reception guy did not know the area, had not heard of the Oracle Car park which is about 200 yards away. I cold not find my room signage is pretty poor, room smelt of curry, cigarete burns on the bed side tables, exposed wiring on radiator, shower trap missing, head was pointing to wall as was broken, felt dirty. Bedroom I kep my socks on it just felt filthy did not want to walk on carpet. I expect the bed was pretty dirty though sheets seemed clean. I would never set foot in this hotel again. I trusted the IBIS name and as an Accor member have stayed in many around the world. should not be part of the group.

Awful won't ever use IBIS again. Just cancelled a Another trip.

As I was checking in a junkie came in and stole coffee from coffee room. open back door. Awful room with a view of bird muck encrusted on window. At night big fuss about phoning reception to get in after 11.00. Had to show my key card give room number. Door at back where drunks a junkies get in wide open for smokers. No fridge no tea or coffee in room. Breakfast in a bag. Swapped rooms could hear upstairs an next door toilets flushing. Warning on window about safety. Awful experience left a day early, refused a refund.

well located but tired carpet

The hotel is conveniently located, the room was good size but the carpet was rather old and tired. It needs to be improved. Breakfast was minimal and a bit dull after a few days (I was staying for a week).

Dreadful Hotel only stay if desperate

The hotel is in the centre of Reading but am afraid that's the only good thing about my stay. The hotel smells of curry has no lifts room was shabby and damaged. No tea and coffee in the room. No pre booked Gluten free breakfast ready. Sadly no one responds to emails either. Even as an Accor member I won't return stay in The usual Ibis next time.

General lack of quality

The rooms felt dirty. Carpets were stained and bathroom had tiles missing and had dirty grout. There was no tea and coffee facility I. The room although a machine was available at reception there were no cups. Breakfast is provided in a bag to take away, no idea why breakfast hasn’t returned but the bags had limited choice. The whole hotel smells really badly of curry. Overall I would not stay again.

Very Bad Hotel

I am a Diamond member. Every time I come to this hotel there are various issues. This time apparently there were no rooms left even though I booked via the App directly. The receptionist assumed i booked via a third party website and that the third party has issues. After I told him I booked on the accor app he said, yes that is also having issues. I them said I'm a member. He was confused. He then said there were several rooms available.

Was ok

I was meant to be staying in another hotel and was moved to this one. The room was clean but lacking some things like a hairdryer, no tea or coffee facilities, no hot breakfast. Room could have done with new carpets.

Disappointed

I have already submitted a complaint via the website. Absolutely shocking state of the room. Really embarrassing that you allow people to stay in these rooms.

Dirty, noisy, poor service but good location.

Check-in was poor. There were 3 groups waiting to check in and the person at the desk was too busy on a call to notice. He then stood up and said, oh I was just talking sorting out reservations. Some people were told their bookings were cancelled as the hotel had overbooked the day! I was lucky not to be one of those people...maybe! The room was dirty and smelt unclean. The carpet was soiled and dirty, food and drink ingrained and sticky. The bathroom had been cleaned but was poorly finished so felt dirty. The noise of people at 2/3am was crazy, people shouting and running around the narrow squeaky corridors. Privacy at the check in desk was poor. Reading out loud room numbers, amounts people had to pay and details of customers left out infornt of you to see other customer personal information. This included the username and password for the WiFi. Why have this if you are going to tell everyone the details. Email and phone number asked for with no explanation what it was going to be used for. Data privacy a real bit issue here!

I wasn’t impressed with my stay The smell of curry is overwhelming! I felt like I needed to wash every item I took into the hotel when I got home as everything seemed liked it smell of curry.

Not good. Room carpet is extremely worn and dirty, multiple broken fixtures, no tea/coffee facilities, rock hard bed, tiny and tinny-sounding TV. Stairs only was a unpleasant surprise (I have a knee injury), as was the rabbit warren of corridors to get to the room. Not good value for money when compared to other similarly priced options in Reading.

Poor experience

Check in was not straightforward and seemed to take forever. The room smelt of stale smoke, the table light was broken and placed on its side and overall the room felt dirty.

Well located and friendly staff

The room we stayed in was not clean. The room where the tea and coffee machine was was full of junk (other hotels in the group still have kettles in the rooms with COVID-19 so not sure why we couldn't here). We were late back, so the doors were locked, fair enough but if you're leaving a mobile staff should really take it with them so guests don't have to wait outside calling a number that isn't being answered for ten minutes!

Awful

The worst place I have ever stayed in ever

Not fit for corporate travelers

There is no stairs to a 2nd floor room given to me and that also narrow stairs/ corridors where one has to take all luggage. Heating does not work in the room. Breakfast was takeaway cold milk & little amount of corn-flakes. Reception was helpful. Not a standard hotel for corporate travelers.

Filthy room, holes been kicked through doors and walls

I have stayed here on quite a few occasions over the years (and last time in 2020 gave a glowing review). This stay however did not live up to expectation - the actual room was clean but I literally had no sleep on both nights due to what appeared to be air conditioning units making an incredible noise outside. My window overlooked a pile of rubbish (not just a few carrier bags worth, but a large heap). This appeared to include multiple Pot Noodle cartons, milk cartons and general trash that had been thrown out of windows opposite! On arrival I was told there were no kettles in rooms 'because of Covid' ??!! I have stayed in hotels multiple times recently and no other brand encountered has this policy in force. The Covid 'Breakfast in a Bag' was a diabetic nightmare ( Frosties with carton of longlife milk, chocolate muffin, overtly sweet longlife yogourt - nothing like the description of what would be on offer left on a sheet of paper in the room). The only consolation was that all the staff were cheerful, helpful and pleasant.
