The hotel is right in the centre of reading so it's in a really good location, the beds were very comfortable and the room was nice and clean, we arrived three hours before check in time but because our room was ready we were able to go straight up, they have a good check out time of 12 which is later than most hotels, we were staying around reading still around 4pm and the hotel was happy to look after our bags for us, the only downside was that we faced out on to a brick wall and the hotel is above an Indian restaurant which didn't bother me but my friend hates the smell of curry so wasn't too impressed with that, I couldn't actually smell it at all, also there was no kettle on the room which means you have to go down to the reception area to get your drinks

Good location, friendly, helpful reception staff, cleaning staff also very nice. Overall a nice stay. Minor issues with plug next to bed and no in-room coffee or tea making facility because of covid (not sure how it was safer to make guest get out of their room to make coffee in a common room used by everyone instead?).

Very friendly staff. Room is very spacious and comfortable. Although the bath didn’t have enough protected shower curtain so the floor keeps getting wet. And there was no lift.

This hotel is in a perfect location, very close to shops, bars and restaurants. It's a very old hotel which has been refurbished. Reception is modern but corridors and rooms still feel a bit old and musty. Overall though, very comfortable and great value for money. Would definitely stay again.

Very nice , clean and quite hotel. Great for business stay or city visit. Breakfast was nicely packed in bag to take away due Covid19 as restaurant closed. Room was very clean. Air conditioning, bath / shower. Everything you need for a night and morning.

For the price I paid (£49) I wasn't expecting luxury. However on entering my room I was immediately taken aback by the heat and the outdated-ness. There was an unpleasant smell, like vomit, that got worse the closer to the bathroom you got. The bathroom, run down and in need of a grout refresh and a new sink, seemed clean enough. There were some suspicious splatter marks on the bathroom door however, that could be wiped off. There were a lot of marks on a corner of a wall leading to the bathroom that looked like handprints. The room was hot (it was 34 outside) with no aircon which I knew. The windows were open as wide as they could go. The room was situated on a noisy crossroad, with busses going past every few minutes. The net curtains were discoloured, and the windows sill had lots of dead bugs. As a pregnant woman in my first trimester, sensitive to smells and already nauseous a lot of the time, the smell and heat started to make me feel more sick and dizzy so I went to lay down on the bed. I noticed a lot more bugs on the bed covers and when I picked up the orange decorative cushion I noticed a white snotty looking trail in one corner. I thought maybe a drink might help, but there were no tea/coffee making facilities, or cups for water. I know these had been removed for covid, however I've stayed in 2 other hotels since reopening and they've still had the basics still but with paper cups and disposable cutlery. The thought of spending an entire evening and then night in the room made me cry, because I knew I couldn't stay but complaining makes me anxious. I can't even return food in a restaurant. I managed to take a few pictures incase I needed them later, and left as soon as I could. I went back to reception and told the man I couldn't stay because my room smelled like vomit and it was noisy and hot and had bugs everywhere. He offered to give me another room but I couldn't face another room. I still felt sick and dizzy, and I figured it would probably be the same as the first in terms of cleanliness and bugs (with no aircon and windows having to be open). I told him I'd booked another room and he said 'you should have come to me first' and he checked me out. Thankfully there was a Premier Inn a few minutes walk away and only £6.50 more for the night. With the plus side of having air conditioning. After a 30 minute lie down, I felt a lot better physically (and mentally!). I booked through hotels.com, and put in a complaint straight away. They got back to me and said Ibis had checked the room and it was fine, and as I'd checked out after half an hour they couldn't refund. I said I had photos and was told to email them, however I got an email back saying 'this email address is not monitored', so I doubt I will get a response. Overall a stressful and unpleasant experience. Will be sticking to Premier Inns in the future.

Reception extremely friendly and helpful. Room was a nice size but unable to use air con due Covid and due to it being hot it was not the most comfortable at night. A fan was provided but it had no swing function and we were a family using two beds. Facilities mostly OK although TV remote did not work very well. Bed comfortable and pillows fluffy. We got a breakfast bag which was nice. Location was excellent.

Really loved this hotel. Obviously basic but with nice touches. Big thank you to the staff who were so friendly and happy to advise us. Great location for all the shops, bars and restaurants. We stayed for a concert at the Arts Centre and this was only a 7 minute walk. Bar was open into the early hours!
