« OUTSTANDING!! »

Location, Finish & Staff - a very impressive hotel, rooms were well appointed, immaculately clean and air conditioning was excellent. I was delighted with the quiet ambience, the quality of the food at the restaurants and small investment when being situated so close to the shopping precincts of Melbourne. Looking forward to my next stay ... Thank you Novotel Central Little Lonsdale Street ... I will be returning!!

Stayed in the Novotel side of this fairly new hotel. It's in a great location and as it was a Birthday treat we chose the Novotel room over the Ibis that we had stayed in 3 times previously. Good-sized clean room with the usual amenities. Considering it is nearly 3 times the price of the Ibis rooms for not much more of a footprint or increase in amenities, I would probably not choose this option again. All the rooms are very quiet considering construction around the hotel. Good blackout blinds. We enjoyed our welcome drink in the bar; however as with previous visits, the seating is not always adequate for the number of patrons and staff had to move chairs around to help people find a seat. We did not eat dinner or breakfast in the hotel this time. Would stay again, but more likely to choose a higher standard Ibis room against a Novotel King.

I forgot my wallet at home before flying to Melbourne, this means I didn't have my credit card on ID. When I came to check in, the lady in the counter informed me that I won't be able to check in and a refund is not available due to the fact that I've booked the stay with expedia. After a short discussion I've convinced her to check if I could check in with a photo of my photo ID, she checked with the manager, the manager agreed to check me in, but only if I can present a plastic credit card, she informed me that this is required of "SECURITY" (?????) reasons. I explained that I don't have a credit card but I can use my phone instead. After a short discussion I told her that I could ask my colleague to present a plastic credit card on my behalf. The manager approved this convoluted arrangement and I had to wait nearly two hours for my colleague to arrive and "securely" present a plastic credit card. The rest of the stay was fine. Novotel use to be my preferred hotel in Melbourne, me and my colleague stayed there over 10 nights in the last few month. After this experience I am likely to look for other options....

I would just love it if you could email me a receipt when I check out like I requested.Happens so often with Novotels - perhaps you could work on creating visibility in your online portal for regular guests like myself, so that i don't have to chase you at the end of the month when i'm trying to lodge my expense reports

Extremely small room although nicely furnished. Beds too small for 2 adults. Not to the standard I am used to using Accor as a preferred supplier for business.

« Hotel was ok, but not to Novotel normal standard »

The room was "weird". Weird layout. Weird how things were positioned. Weird what was/was not in the room. Weird furniture. Staff at reception were very good, but not enough people at the restaurant to help at breakfast. On check out the lady at reception made a joke to my wife that I was initially offended by, but quickly realized that she was right in what she said.

Hello - friendly team and notice some positive advancements with bar area, menu & desk in room changes. One additional Fast Check-out option should be; instead of having the Fast Check-out box on L2, where normal check-out is anyway; wouldn't it streamline effectiveness to have on Ground Floor next to lift? Thus you'r not required to get out on L2, then wait for another lift to G. (Or have two Fast Check Out Boxes) Jus t my thinking..................

« Conference attendees take off the shine of a good stay »

This my 2nd stay at this hotel (which is now my preferred hotel for Melbourne business trips). My otherwise good experience (check in, check out, room service, the room itself, location were all great) was adversely impacted by the huge number of JW conference delegates staying (I think) at the adjoining IBIS and dining at the joint breakfast facility. The restaurant was packed from before 7am on both days which saw me having to wait up to 10mins for a table, and similar for tea/coffee. The restaurant was understaffed for this concentrated volume, meaning tables were left uncleared as people left and food items ran out (and took time to replace). Perhaps such large delegations would be better suited to dining in an alternative location from the main dining room if they all need to eat before leaving the hotel at a similar time. I paid in excess of $350 per night for my room for this stay, greatly inflated I am sure due to the high occupancy of these delegates. I have left feeling penalized for having stayed.

Regrettably, the number of guests wishing to dine in Pretty Boy Restaurant over this particular week was high and with many of our guests enjoying a leisurely breakfast, this led to extended wait times and of course due to the JW conference which was a group we had staying in the hotel in both Novotel & Ibis who dinned early. From time to time we experience peak periods of service during breakfasts and do all that we can to facilitate our guests; such as offering juice and pastries to those who are waiting and adjusting our operating times of the venue by opening at 6am. As a wider team, additional service staff and an increased kitchen brigade continually monitor and replenish items as required. I am disappointed to note your comments regarding the lack of service & food replenish and have shared your feedback with my team. To expect a high level of service is completely reasonable and it is unfortunate that we failed on this account. We are appreciative of your observations; you have provided us with a valuable perspective of how high volume breakfast numbers can impact the overall experience of our guests and I would like to extend my personal apology for the inconvenience. « There was little to like about this hotel. »

I am a regular traveler for work, traveling weekly within Australia and overseas a number of times a year. In the last month I have stayed in Hotels from the Fairmont group in San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle to overnight accommodation in airport hotels in Detroit, St Louis, and Milwaukee. I do not have expectations of the quality of the property, but having once there I have an expectation that staff know what they are doing. From the moment I entered, it was a mess. The Novatel side of reception was closed and I was re-directed to the IBIS desk. When I arrived, they advised me "That I had already checked in". Clearly I had not. Unconvinced, they then tried to argue that I must have a guest to arrived before me. I did not. They then asked for my ID and assured me that I had indeed checked in and I was in my room. It was eventually acknowledged that they had indeed booked someone else into my room, Brian C., and that I could therefore use his room. I also asked to confirm that I was booked for 2 nights. I was advised that I was only booked for one night. Eventually it was resolved that a booking agent had caused this error, not the hotel. The room was small but adequate for my needs. However, I was advised the next morning that the venue at which I was a guest speaker had been moved by the hotel from Level 3 to level 29. That's fine, but my room key did not get me to room 29. I then went back down to reception to get the key recoded and they needed me to tell them what room I wanted to enter. How do I know, your company moved the conference venue. When I eventually arrived on Level 29 I was directed to a room which was in the process of having beds and other furniture removed to accommodate the conference. Tables were being brought into an "executive room" to have 14 female guests from Women Trading Globally Trade Mission funded by the Australian Government, plus me as speaker plus 2 other support staff. Inadequate to say the least. I then argued with the hotel staff for an adjoining room so that the women could have privacy to use the bathroom. Given it was a standard suite, now with 16 women and me as a male presenter, having one co-located bathroom is entirely inappropriate. The women were from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tibet, Bhutan, Bangladesh and India. Culturally, the shared facilities were completely inappropriate. I also realise that you cannot do anything about the building swaying, but by the end of the day, myself and some guests were feeling the effect of sea-sickness. I would not say it was cyclonic winds, but certainly strong winds. A 33 story building should not sway that much. There was several other minor issues, but I will not labour the point save to say, that every time I thought you had hit rock-bottom, you then began to dig.

« Central, convenient to most areas of the city, clean, neat and tidy with all the necessary facilities. »

Overall a very pleasant experience apart from the first night when we were allocated a disabled room which was really too big for our needs but thankfully we were moved to a more appropriate room for the remainder of our stay and that was compact and more comfortable for us.

« Short but sweet »

I was only there for one night, but I really enjoyed the stay. Everything was sparkling clean, and I really loved the customised "WELCOME [NAME]" on the TV screen. I was on the 33rd floor, which offered lovely views, and I thought the buffet breakfast had a nice selection as well. I ordered the omelette, which was delicious. Overall, a wonderful stay, and I think I would definitely ask to be put in the same hotel next time I'm in Melbourne.

This was not the best stay at this hotel to date The in-room dining tablet did not work during my entire stay and was attended to once by a technician when I rung reception and advised them as well as asking for a hard copy of a in-room dining menu. After 30 minutes I had to ring and follow up again as this was obviously forgotten. The staff member that delivered it did acknowledge this and apologised. As well as this the internet connection in my room was very poor and took multiple times to try and connect

from the minute we pulled up to the foyer, we were treated with absolute first class service. The concierge, check in, room were all perfection. The lady manager was so rude and had left a 300$ fine letter in our room with an assumption that someone smoked without even taking to the guest after they know we stayed for 10 days . When asked she spoke to us like as if she didn’t want to listen to our concern and then we had to talk to another manager to resolve this issue . Respecting customer is a basic courtesy
