Clean tidy rooms, ideal for just a night or two. Evening buffet food was very disappointing. Cold chips, dry chicken and bland flavoured pasta. However breakfast was much better. Good choice.

« Not the most comfortable stay »

I stay in a lot of hotels and this one looks lovely with nice grounds and lobby but rooms quite tired and uncomfortable. No lift and when I asked just got told 'well it's only one floor up'. It was 2 flights of stairs and dragging cases up those stairs when you have back problems is not good. I pulled my back so was in pain all weekend . Rooms spacious, decor a little tired looking and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. Tumbler in the bathroom had old toothpaste scum dried up in the bottom and the bath had rust stains near the plug hole . Would not stay again unless there was no other option

Spoke to staff prior to my arrival as my daughter has coeliac disease. They went out of the way on arrival to ensue she had fresh food cooked and served in our room. Unfortunately the evening staff failed to continue are amazing service. We attending a Ball at the hotel and food was not explained to us and as it was served alongside everyone else’s as a buffet would not of been suitable for a person with coeliac disease due to cross contamination. I did explain this but it fell on deaf ears that evening which was a shame. Therefore my daughter was left without food !

Very well located and easy to find hotel , a bit disappointed that not fulfilled request , and I had to call reception to deliver what I’ve ordered day before and spoiled surprise , also chosen to stay in room with jacuzzi bath for reason , however jacuzzi didn’t work therefore not worth paying extra cost , after reporting to reception not even asked if I would like a smallest refund , not very good at all , I’ve paid extra for a reason that I was unable to use.

Overall the stay was comfortable however there were 4 of us having our evening meal an none of use were eating at the same time, one starter arrived with the mains 2 mains arrived as 2 of us who had eaten a slowly as possible had finished, brought this up with the staff who quite frankly didn't care!

« Disappointing »

The service in the bar for both food and drinks was awful. Forgotten to bring drinks, Brough food with no cutlery for all 3 courses, which after waiting then went in search of the cutlery and ate cold food or a dessert with melted icecream. The room was dusty, kettle full of stale water and no TV remote. The only saving grace was the way in which the lady on checkout dealt with our complaints, her sincerity and empathy just may have been enough make be think about booking a Mercure hotel again.

Stayed for 5 nights, breakfast was good, dinner a little slow as did not seem enough serving staff due to amount of conference rooms being used too.

Car park good. Reception and arrival is good Breakfast is standard, breakfast/dinner room the carpet is dirty Dinner - menu is OK, nothing special, Tracy our waitress was very good. Dinner room was shut on Wednesday night due to short staff, not good for a large hotel to shut the door and not explain until you ask. Room 202 was OK - daily cleaning to good standard. Gym/Pool facilities (main reason I chose hotel) Gym - small but adequate for a traveler, pool very disappointed - full of kids in the evening so no chance to have a relaxing swim, probably would staty somewhere else next time where the pool is available for hotel guests and not the local kids swimming clubs. Overall OK but I would look for somewhere with better facilities.

The disappointment was the fact that the dining room wasn't open, so our evening meal had to be taken in the bar. Also, our 2 courses were all served together, so we had no breathing space between the starter and mains. Other than that, everything was fine

Lovely staff, nice room, great pool. Unfortunately the bed was really lumpy and uncomfortable so I had a bad night's sleep, which is the one thing you really hope doesn't happen when you stay in a hotel. Reckon you need to splash out on some new mattresses.

« Good overall Experience »

in places the hotel may be little tired, however the bed was HUUUUGE and very comfortable, the facilities in the rooms was good. the Hotel was busy with events, which meant at times lots of people were milling around the reception and the corridors outside the event rooms, which lead to fighting your way through, this aside it was nicely decorated and the breakfasts were ok. very help yourself even to the tea & coffee.

« My last time there. »

The last time we stayed was in a standard room so this time I upgraded to a “Privelege” room, for the extra money you will get a coffee machine with exactly 2 portions of coffee, a fridge with 2 cokes and 2 bottles of water, none of which were touched, there are 2 robes both of which were stained and one had a hole in the sleeve. A couple of biscuits and an instant coffee would have sufficed. The shower was set on scalding and the control was missing so I couldn’t have a shower, the tap on the sink emitted a trickle of water. I’ve stayed in B&B’s that charged a fraction of the price and offered more. We live a couple of miles away and only stay to save messing about with cabs, the next time we will book a cab.

« Generally OK »

Friendly staff and clean room. However, disappointed the restaurant was closed in the evening and having to eat in the conservatory which was cold. Also disappointed with the room upgrade to privilege in only having one coffee capsule each and limited tea and coffee.
