« Disappointing, grey towels, hard flat towels, very small towels, no bath robs, no milk, no help with taken bags to the room »

One stayed one night, attended a function, food all cold, desert ran out. Fire alarm went off at breakfast had to evacuate to the rail station over the road Will not forget the stay but sadly for the wrong reasons.

A decent enough stay in some respects. The TV in Blakes was extremely old and not working and the only other I believe was in reception. Equally old and too small, but working. The food in the Waterski function was dreadful and cold and breakfast wasn't much better. Not many would have the life expectancy to cook toast on your domestic toasters... Room great and clean as expected.

« Well located, rooms need some renovation, mattresses should be immediately replaced. »

The hotel is fine, although it seems to be time for some renovation work. The floorboards are incredibly squeaky and bouncy, and the beds are very uncomfortable with old open spring mattresses.

Excellent friendly reception - a real asset. Towels in room paper thin and small. Friendly breakfast team good to have GF options available. We had a long wait as hot buffet was not topped up.

Stayed here many times . This time given such a small room . Which need improving on the décor. Has cob webs which I cleaned. There was one around the light which I left. Not the best of stays

« Noisy and poor breakfast selection »

My room was located on the 3rd Floor with the hope it would not be too noisy. Unfortunately for the most part of the evening and early morning, there are noise sounding like people moving industrial size bins. Very disappointed with the breakfast selection. In this day and age, coffee were still offered in a flask. Tasteless to my opinion and no aroma. Cooked breakfast looked stale and unappetising. For the price charged for breakfast, I have had better in other hotels.

« Well located, but needs a refurbishment. Rooms were fine, but a bit souless. »

Somehow the hotel came across as a bit outdated. I would say it needs to be modernised and improved. It was great that the rooms had baths, but the lighting wasn't cosy and the rooms lacked that extra touch. The curtains when pulled covered the radiator, which makes no sense. Why replace the soap daily, what a waste of a resource? Just needs attention to detail and a general upgrade.

After finding myself sick early morning and explaining this at reception, we were allowed to check in hours earlier than expected. This allowed me to get some rest and refresh, by the time I was due to meet up with friends, I almost felt human again. It was a long day made far more comfortable for the care and attention of The Rougemont Hotel

« Great location, friendly staff »

We enjoyed our stay at the Rougemont in Exeter. It's perfectly located in the city center and easy to get to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good too. The bed was a bit hard for our tastes (I'm a side sleeper) but not too bad. The room we had was fine, but it is an older building, and the floors creak a bit. We were on the top floor, so not disturbed by it.

I must admit I was a bit put off at first because phoned on a Monday to get information to book and was told a price and because blue badge holders would reserve us a parking space (fab) and accessable room. Very competent staff member. Had to confirm it with my son and next two days staff at the hotel couldn't do it so put me through to central booking who didn't seem to know what they were doing. Phoned hotel on Saturday and booked for 7 nights with a lovely young man at the hotel but prices had gone up by £80 was not happy so complained that if I had managed to speak to someone on Tuesday or Wednesday probably would have been the original price. Complaint was dealt with well and I was given some points on membership card. Not happy but was ok. Got to the hotel with mixed feelings but parking space was reserved and staff were lovely and friendly. Room was great, my husband could walk round with his walker easily. I have to mention the shower which was the best shower we have had in a hotel room with the seat and lots of handles to hold on to. Very easy to use too. Felt very comfortable at this hotel and the only negatives were the bad experience at the beginning (I would have booked elsewhere but my son, who lives in Exeter, advised us to try it because it is so central) and the noise outside. This is not your fault but maybe triple glazing? I know it is a student city but the bar next door plays music until 2 in the morning Friday and Saturday, this did result in a couple of near sleepless nights. Visiting our son regularly so will definitely consider this hotel again even with the negatives I have mentioned.

« Good location »

I have stayed at this hotel previously and staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful. Rooms are of a good size and comfortable beds. For improvement: on this occasion the room I was staying in had a broken 'spy hole' in the door, stuffed with toilet paper which seems could have been fixed or had a better temporary fix prior to allocating the room to a guest. The heavy doors slam when closing and I think I was unfortunate to have a noisy neighbour who was in and out frequently so it wasn't my most restful stay.
