Great stay

We were staying in the Rougemont during a trip to Exeter races. The hotel is placed in the centre of Exeter, which was perfect for us. The hotel is large and homely with a stile of old grandeur. We had a room on the first floor, which turned out to be a premier room. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The room was quiet, even though we were right opposite the train station. The hotel was quit too with no loud banging and crashing early in the mornings. The breakfast was good, a serve yourself, and there was a good range to choose from. The staff were exceptionally polite, seemed happy and smiled! Nothing was too much trouble. I would say they’re again.

We stayed just one night, the room was clean and tidy .The bathroom was nice and there were plenty of towels .Being in such close proximity to the city it was rather noisy but that's to be expected.

A comedy of errors

Room had paper thin walls. I asked if they had ear plugs and was guided as to where to buy some as they don't do them anymore. 1am we were moved to a different room. In the morning was told to pack our things and they would move them to a new room. When we can back they had not moved our luggage so after a long day and being sleep deprived we had to move our luggage up the stairs due to broke lift. Our new room only had bbc channels. The phone didn't work so had to go downstairs to order room service to which I was charged £5 for tray fee even though I had to go down. They got the order wrong and so we had to go downstairs again. Got a drink and dessert instead but no refund. Extractor fan in bathroom broken and mouldy walls. Would recommend the cleaning team make a list of things that need fixing in the room to pass to maintenance. Parking was a mess I paid on check in and told 12 would cover the stay. On check out the manager rudely said to her colleague She has to pay in front of me. That was the same manager who lied and said they would take out luggage to the room. I work very hard and wanted a nice relaxing weekend but due to sleep deprivation I've come back feel exhausted and ill. Good location. Will book a premier inn next time. Breakfast staff and reception staff friendly. Not the manager.

The hotel is lovely clean and classic decor. The beds were very uncomfortable and the breakfast was very poor!
