« Well located »

With a warm welcome, the hotel is in an ideal location although situated by a busy dual carriageway noise is limited and you cannot hear the traffic. The food and service in the hotels restaurant was terrific and highly recommended. Situated ideally 10 minutes from St. Albans city centre which had an exciting museum which is free but accepts donations. Plenty of shops to have a peak around. Will definitely consider coming back

We only stayed for one night whilst visiting the Harry Potter studios. The first impressions of the hotel were good, we used the fantastic spa. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed but we used the bar and the food was really good. Breakfast in the restaurant was great. Unfortunately the room wasn’t brilliant, we stayed in a superior double and although the room was a good size it wasn’t very clean. The carpet had stains all over it, the bathroom was ok but not fantastic, the shower gel had been used previously and one of the glasses has lipstick on it. Slightly off putting after first impressions.

I enjoyed the size of the room and facilities and the staff were very friendly. One of the things that did spoil my stay was the uncontrolled noise, kids shouting, yelling and laughing, doors banging till 3.30am all from a party that was going on within the hotels grounds too. Reception was called twice but with no answer! Very annoying when I look forward to my night away from the busy home life I have with my disabled daughter and hoping for a decent nights sleep.

I did not have much of a welcome at Reception, they seemed pre-occupied, my 'Superior Room' was a very good room but not as expected (when I found it) and although the breakfast quality was OK, not worth 12 GBP. Bar and Waiting Staff excellent.

Pleasent stay some issue with the room was issued with a twin when a double was booked but soon resolved. No lift and very basic spa facilities and not the cleanest. Brilliant brekfast

Helpful and friendly staff. Good bar food, above average. Disappointed the main restaurant was closed in the evenings and lunchtime during our stay. Liked the pancake machine at breakfast and it was fun to see other guests trying to feed bread into it to make toast.

Disabled parking near the entrance was a bonus. Courteous but perhaps diversity clueless Reception stumbled over my gender and the forms only had Mr or Mrs as options, Ms and Mx would be additional improvements. Upon misgendering they switched my actual name Katy Jon W. to Jon Katy W. on the keycard. (Not good, you are lucky as I don't take offence but many other transgender or non-binary would rightly kick off at that point). As I was using a stick with arthritis and a back issue, the stairs were a pain without lift access. The hotel was a mix of modern and ancient with wonky floors, to me that adds character but the decor and paintings made it seem last century. The room, however, was a delight - large, spacious, plenty of accessible lighting, a low sided easy access bath with handles on the wall for accessibility. Fast, hot water filled the bath quickly. A (false?) fire alarm going off around 7.15am was less pleasant. Breakfast was good. I didn't get to use the spa/pool as another guest remarked it was dirty with hair and the comment put me off. I'm staying again next week, so we'll see how that goes. I was part of a diverse group of residents visiting the area for a diversity and inclusion training we were offering so obviously that makes us hyper aware of our experiences and I regularly train venues on aspects of diversity.

We stay reasonably regularly at The Noke which must say something ! Reception team as always were very good. No problems Room was up to the usual standard and we enjoyed our stay . Two more already booked with one pending for August depending on the rate we are offered. Particularly commend Barbara who I think is Reception Manager. Always ask to speak to her because she is very pleasant and helpful

Hotel provides a good base, easy to reach from motorway Compared to other Mercures we have stayed in would probably rate hotel as 3 star Staff very friendly and efficient Food is of very good standard Bar is ok but not very cosy Bed and pillows very hard
