Considering the circumstances... A reasonable stay.

Staff on reception exemplary! Rooms a little tired, windows need upgrading as does room heating and some geberal decore. Breakfast was good, though getting it confusing and poorly planned... Again, once staff on the case, they were excellent.

Ok stay, during a pendemic.

Room was cold, breakfast (cold) and dinner (microwaved) is horrible and didn't worth the money. On night 1 staff was nice and welcoming, second night (different staff) they were not very helpful neither ready to provide service.

Disappointed

Room and booking in ok. Meal overpriced for what it was and stone cold, returned for a different meal which was poor to average. Breakfast was booked for an early morning slot to the room, never showed so I left for work. Will not return to this hotel. I stay in many hotels and can’t fathom out why some cannot employ chefs who care about the quality and presentation of the food served. If you have great food and a clean room then you will get repeat and recommended business. It’s a no brainer to me.

Dear Mr I., Thank you for taking the time to complete the Voice of the Guest survey sent to you with regards to your recent stay at Mercure Walton Hall Hotel and Spa. I apologise if your dinner experience had a negative effect on your stay with us at Walton Hall. Breakfast is by collection unless clearly marked on the order form and i am sorry that if this is the case that the team missed it, a telephone call down to reception would have resolved this quickly and the team would have delivered your breakfast for you. I can assure you that guest feedback, both positive and negative is invaluable to us as it enables us to highlight ways in which we need to improve our services to ensure that we consistently provide a superior service. Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us and please be reassured that I will take your comments on board. I do hope that this experience will not deter you from visiting us again at Walton Hall and we look forward to welcoming you in the future. If you would like to discuss anything in further detail please do not hesitate to contact me. Yours sincerely, Joanne Hammick General Manager

Lovely room, food unreliable.

There was a limited evening menu and then some things weren’t available so bought food in a couple of times. The takeaway breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes 2 sausages, sometimes 4, sometimes 2 cheese, sometimes 3. I never knew if I was going to be left hungry or not. I know we’re on lockdown but with the hotel being fairly remote and no other eateries open there should be reliable food available.

Beautiful countryside setting. Amazingly helpful staff. Gorgeous food. Clean accommodation

Rebecca A. R. Families - 02/01/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

I stayed at Walton Mercure over Christmas with my husband and young children and I can honestly say it was one of the most pleasant hotel stays i have ever had. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as special as possible, paying attention to small details (chocolates on children’s pillows, Christmas card, special Christmas breakfast). The cottage where we stayed was perfectly sized for a small family and extremely clean. The grounds of the hotel grounds are breathtaking and we created many fond memories walking around the lake. The health centre is well looked after and lovely view of grounds from heated pool! It was pure escapism staying here and I would not hesitate recommending it to anyone

Dear Rebecca, Happy New Year to you and your family, thank you so much for your kind review. The special mentions are very much appreciated. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. I will share your comments with the small team I currently have. I am sure that your kind words will serve as encouragement in such a low period for all of us. I would ask that perhaps you could copy and paste it into trip advisor? I wish you all the best for the year ahead and hope that it soon improves and all of us can travel and see our loved ones again. Joanne Hammick General Manager 01…24

Specifically searched for a Spa hotel, called to confirm if Spa facilities were open, on arrival found the sauna and steam room were closed, the pool was open but was tired and dated, toilets were broken, window frames rotting, generally dirty and cold. Held out hope that the hotel would make up for it but unfortunately the room was disappointing with a tear in the net curtain, holes that looked like cigarette burns in the curtains and threadbare towels. The service in the hotel bar and restaurant was slow and disorganised. They seemed to be short staffed for the new ways of operating within Covid guidelines. We were looking forward to a romantic and relaxing first weekend away together and ended up with a bit of a Fawlty Towers experience. Certainly wouldn't go back to this hotel, it was let down in the main by the Spa, may have been more accepting of the hotel service if we weren't so disappointed by the Spa facilities or lack of them.

overall lovely grounds, but hotel rooms are run down. Spa treatments were great. The pool area is very basic. The food menu was limited but evening meal was nice. Staff were polite.

The hotel itself is located in a wonderful area, the buildings are nice amd the staff friendly. There wee some minor issues that prevent a higher score. Most of the spa being closed at weekends seems like a foolish decision. The was no conditioner provided and the food / drinks was expensive.

Lovely setting, great location

A good level of service in these tough times, especially with staff shortages, limited menus etc. We had a pretty shocking experience on our first visit. The Management team invited us back to show us this wasn't a normal standard we experienced. I can honestly say it was much better than before and I want to say a thank you to Joanne for organising this for us.

Set beautifully in the grounds of Walton hall. Accommodation spacious and great for families travelling away, only negative is bathroom is very old and poor quality (2 bed apt). Breakfast is great for our family as time to reflect, again I must state negative with all the plastic used and individually wrapped. Fully understand COVID but at least bring out croissant from kitchen and not in all this plastic. Sad to see.

Well located with plenty of places to visit despite covid!

Stayed 3 nights in a one bedroom apartment. Very clean, well appointed, comfortable and spacious. Made good use of the pool. Staff all very courteous and efficient. The hotel is blessed with spacious grounds, including a lake with resident swans, geese and ducks. We have visited before.

Handy for Morton Morrell college.
