« very nice experience »

it was really good. beautiful room and loved the large bathroom and really liked the shower with the stone tiles. everything was fine. Also, Gail (concierge) was excellent!!!! You have a great employee there. Positive, friendly, huge smile and knowledgeable. She found a great haircutting place for me right nearby and recommended a great blues club.

This was the third stay at this hotel while attending an annual business conference. By this year, it is hard to say whether I really come for the conference or just to stay at this hotel. My colleagues and I are treated by every member of the Gold Room staff as if we were cherished family.

« Decent hotel, excellent in room dining »

Fairnont was a bit of a surprise. The hotel is well located for me due to being close to work. The rooms are decent, nothing extraordinary. However their customer service and especially in room dining is exceptional. I have several dietary restrictions. The chef whipped up a custom meal for me so good that I ate it for 4 nights every night!! I have booked my future Chicago work stays at Faurmont now.

« Great Location, Poor Service »

I stayed there for three nights and was not happy with the service. Trash was left in my room, I wanted ice and the ice machine of my floor was not working, I called the front desk and the response was: "Well, then go down one floor to get ice". I believe that if you are paying over 150 dollars a night you should get a better response than that.

« Good stay. Great bed. Quiet room. »

We stayed at this the Fairmont Chicago for the first time as it was within a block of the Harris Theater. We thought the room was well appointed, extremely quiet, and the bed was wonderful. When we get another bed for our home we will look to get the brand that the Fairmont uses. It was that good. Also, I was impressed with the relatively low cost of the room ($156 rate and with tax $202) for a room in downtown Chicago.

« Polite staff, clean hotel, ridiculous prices »

We came for a business trip and stayed in rooms adjacent to the others from our company. The rooms were very clean and the staff was helpful and polite. The walls, however, were very thin and we could hear our colleagues talking next door very clearly. Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay again even if I could afford the room, because even basic coffee costs money in the rooms!! Come one, coffee is not that expensive to provide for your guests. I even asked for a refrigerator to be brought to the room until I learned that it would cost $15. It's not that I can't afford it, but it is just the idea that you are making a HUGE profit on all of the amenities. Lastly, I bought breakfast at your bar. The sandwich was excellent, and worth the money, but I paid $5 for a coffee and probably got about 10 oz. :(

My first experience with customer service was when the hotel would not accept same day credit card authorizations for a company credit card, for two rooms that were booked a month previously and charged a deposit, "in accordance with PCI standards. We apologize for any inconvenience but do hope you may appreciate our top concern for your personal information and card security." Upon checking in, I was asked for a personal credit card for incidentals, and there would be a $100 hold placed on my card. My company credit card was to be charged for the remaining balance of the two hotel rooms. Two days later, the hotel attempted to charge my personal card $1,200, and then $500. My card was shut off for fraudulent activity, so I was without funds two days of my trip. I called the front desk, and explained the situation. He apologized, said they had a new system, and assured me that there would be no future issues, he had resolved the problem. When the hotel checked out the rooms, one balance was put on the company card. And yet again, one room was charged to my personal card. Needless to say, I am very frustrated with the Fairmont.

I stayed for a conference and the hotel and staff were very accommodating. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. The gym has plenty of equipment and I liked that it was 24 hours. I would stay here again if I was ever in town again.

« Great location, beautiful comfortable room, very hospitable staff! »

My husband I live in Chicago but wanted to get away with a staycation to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. As soon as I mentioned to the staff that it was our anniversary the staff surprised us with chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne! The room was beautiful with a lovely view. The shower had great water pressure. I was able to take a bubble bath in the tub. The bed was very comfortable. The door men greeted us kindly e egg time and helped us call cabs. I highly recommend this hotel.

I enjoyed staying with you once again for the Opening Minds conference. I had two negative experiences but they would not prevent me from staying here again. The maid entered my room about 30 minutes after I checked in and I was lying down....scared me but she apologized. I realize mistakes happen. The other was mildew spots in the shower. Around the handle were mildew spots that can easily be cleaned.

« I was very pleased with my stay. »

The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean. I was there for a conference that was held within the hotel, it was nice to be able to attend the workshops and not have to carry a coat around with me. One suggestion is perhaps the hotel could offer a mini food cart to get a quick bit in between the workshops. As we only had a half hour for lunch.

« Mostly a good experience »

The room was nice and well kept. It offered what we needed for our stay. The beds were double, not queen, but it worked ok for our family. The attached connecting door to the next room offered NO privacy in noise. This was the disappointment with our stay. Our neighbors decided to party loudly one night and were very inconsiderate to other guests. We heard much more than we wanted to during EVERY night of our stay - from coughing, laughing, to where they shopped and more... Obviously if we could hear them, they likely could hear us too. Not the most private feeling. Maybe you could put some sort of door snake type thing at the bottom of the door so you couldn't see the light from the other room...and muffle the noise as well???
