We stayed here for a few days between Christmas and New Years. Totally central. We had booked a suite but it wasn't ready when we arrived at 4 pm - which is kinda inexcusable. We were offered a (paid) upgrade and took it just so we could leave our luggage and start exploring the city, but if I'm honest, since the room should have been ready, the upgrade should have been free instead of an additional $80/day. Elevators are always crowded due to the large size of the h.. Staff was beyond excellent - leading to the high rating

« Great experience »

We stayed over Christmas to celebrate our anniversary and the holidays. We were welcomed promptly at the front desk, nice and courteous ladies. Our room was pleasant and clean, they even provided the unscented toiletries as requested. They have given us a complimentary cake to wish us congratulations. On the day of our checkout there was no valet to help us bring our belongings downstairs and the escalator was not working. Over all was a pleasant stay. We surely will comeback. Thank you to all the staff who worked hard and are dedicated to give excellent service.

Fantastic. Friendly, competent staff; lovely modern hotel with great amenities. Only hiccup was the Sunday morning breakfast - all attention is given to organising the Sunday brunch so hotel guests eating regular breakfast are made to wait longer while brunch prep is the priority. Understandable but slightly annoying nonetheless.

« Great Weekend Getaway »

Overall, great stay! I had been to this property 15-20 years ago, but not since. The property was renovated recently and has a modern art-deco / mid-century modern style. Generally speaking, the hotel decor was comfortable throughout and did not feel shabby anywhere (but the room could have used a few paint touch-ups). We opted for a King room with Gold Floor access. I frequently stay at Fairmont properties and when the price is right, pull the trigger on Gold Floor access. QEH was perfect... for about an extra $100/night/room, the wife and I had access to the generous breakfast, coffees, afternoon snacks, hors d'oeuvres, evening snacks, honour bar, lounge area, etc. Worthwhile. And the staff members working on the floor are the best-of-the-best on the property. Attentive, friendly, accommodating, knowledgable about the area and events, the list goes on... Kudos. With status at Fairmont/Accor, we were upgraded to a larger room upon check in without having to ask, which was a nice touch. And they continued to accommodate my request for a quiet room, placing us at the end of the hall (exterior wall). Lovely. Dining throughout the hotel was great, with the business crowd showing up at the lunch hour - helps make the property feel vibrant and alive which is nice. But it was quiet at night... unlike the Four Seasons where the who's who (or those who want to be somebody) evidently appear. Back to QEH, it is connected directly to the underground city, and we were also able to walk to nearby hotspots, off-property restaurants, shopping mall, without going outside on -10 degree days. Great! We had one minor slip-up, with our room having been furnished with a clothing iron that had a damaged plug/exposed wires. I used it, knowing the risks, and after a lapse in remembering to be careful, caused a short circuit. High spark and the power in the room went out immediately. After dragging the iron up to the Gold Floor concierge on our way out for the evening, they were immensely apologetic and had engineering visit the room to restore the power and replace the iron with a brand new one immediately. A very minor inconvenience that was handled expertly... and I should have known better. Overall, can't wait to return. This property does not disappoint and the staff and service live up to the Fairmont brand 100%. Consistency is King and keeps me coming back to Fairmont.

« As always, never disappointing! »

We love staying at the QEH - central location, quick access to shopping and all the places we like to visit! Rosely's is amazing and we enjoy the Artisan's Market for a quick lunch. Nacarat is great place for drinks and snacks! This visit, we joined the Champagne Tasting hosted by the hotel Sommelier - very informative and enjoyable! Thinking we'll take more advantage of these special activities in the future.

« Room spectacular, check in staff outstanding, checking out was extremely frustrating »

Cpngrats on your fantastic staff. When we checked in it was flawless, professional, caring and welcoming. Our room was outstanding and the extra effort was noticed. We could not control the heat in our room and found it very hot, no we did not call anyone as it was 11:00pm and did not want people in our room. Checking out was extremely frustrating, the clerk was very confused slow and unprofessional. It took us almost 15 minutes to check out.

« Devoted to The Fairmont and here's why.... »

It's all the ways, both big and small, that they go above and beyond to make their guests feel pampered and very well attended to.  Here's our experience in a nutshell:We stayed at two Fairmont's before arriving in Montreal.  We had come to expect to have a luxurious stay for a competitive rate, with a high level of service.  Upon arrival to the Queen Elizabeth, we had a good feeling about what was to come.  From the moment we pulled up to the hotel, we were greeted by Valet and everything went as smoothly as one could hope for.  As we approached the front desk area, we were greeted by Moe Hamandi, the hotels Ambassador of Guest Services.  He singlehandedly oversaw the check in, whisked us through the process, made certain that our special requirements that we requested at the time of the reservation were handled, so that our expectations were exceeded.  He had the perfect blend of friendliness and professionalism. Once in our room, again we were pleasantly surprised.  We were in a Junior Suite and there was not a single negative issue with the room, which truthfully, almost never happens.  We have learned to travel with Clorox Disinfectant wipes and give everything a thorough wipe down, from door knobs to the TV remote, but we could tell that this room had been properly cleaned.  Even the glassware at the bar was free of fingerprints and smudge marks.  We also almost never use the in-room coffee station (yes, maybe it's true we're demanding germaphobes) because of suspicions about cleanliness, but not in this case.  We used the Nescafe Espresso machine and it was fantastic!  Our housekeeper was the unsung hero of the Fairmont. So from the moment we checked in, until the moment we checked out, everything was perfect.  Thanks to you Moe, we will be becoming a frequent Fairmont guest.  What that means is 36 to 72 room nights in 2020, worth many thousands of dollars and for that, Moe Hamandi deserves a raise. There's one other person I'd like to point out for going above and beyond and that is Lutte, the sommelier in the hotels fine dining restaurant.  She was very knowledgeable, very personable and she greatly enhanced our dining experience.  The same should be said of our server ( I don't know his name but he was referred to as the "Bearded one.")  If I were still in the position to hire staff, I would want to snap them both up without any hesitation, so kudos to the HR Department for hiring them.  In fact, maybe the real talent is in the HR Director who put together such an extraordinary team. Next week, we check in to the Fairmont in Washington DC.  The Queen Elizabeth has set the bar so high, I don't know how the DC property will hold up.  Anyway, thanks to all and to the readers of this review, I hope your stay is half as good as ours and you will be counting your good fortune!
