I stayed two nights at this hotel and was extremely pleased with it! Super clean and super fancy. I would recommend it to all my friends!
Pathetic excuse for an 'overnight ten year anniversary' celebration based their incompetence to prepare for a Seattle snowstorm that was predicted at least a week, ten days in advance.
Sarah H. Couples - 18/02/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL
My experience was so horrible and disappointing that I would tell everyone to never visit the Fairmont again. We confirmed ten times before going to make sure it was safe to leave 3 kids under 7 and continue our celebration since we were concerned about the weather. We were made to believe the hotel was fully equipped to deal with this snowstorm. We checked in with a warning that since most seattle restaurants closed down due to the snowstorm, if we plan on choosing and ordering in room dining food then we must be ready for 1-1.5 hours wait time. We were okay with that since even thought we were dying of hunger we had no other option. So we patiently waited from 7pm till 8:30pm for our food. When it was 8:45-9 pm we decided to call and ask. We were told our order was being prepared, they are sorry and we should receive it in 10 minutes. We received it at 10 pm. Even then I decided to not blame them but the snowstorm. What we received was firstly not even everything that we ordered. Next the poor rack of lamb and fish and chips we ordered was stone cold. They served us choclate lava cake with strawberry ice cream. The lava cake was swimming in the melted pool of a sad excuse for strawberry ice cream. Finally we quietly ate it because we were hungry and knew that the close by subway which we would have happily eaten if we were not lied to about our food and its expected arrival time. After eating that horrible food my husband suffered with an upset tummy due to the food and I suffered with a major trigger of my acid reflux issue due to the badly fried fish which was clearly overcooked. Next when i called to complain no one answered. We could not sleep all night due to the horrid after taste and effects of that food. Our trip, celebration & everything we had dreamed of came crashing down. Next morning i called the front desk to let them know how bad it was, what we suffered with all night thanks to it, and i better not be asked to pay for food i wont even pay a $1 for because it was that bad. She apologized and said ill make a note of it. I asked her if we were to extend our stay based on the weather and drive back home what were our options. She mentioned the pay for one night and stay one night free deal and said since I had used a AAA discount i would need to pay the difference. I asked if i were to bring my kids for the second night where would be stay since i was earlier told by another agent that this room could not have 3 kids because it wasnt possible to fit them and they had a limit of 4 guests. The front desk agent at that point said that, that was wrong information and i could bring my kids into the same room or if we wanted to move to a bigger one we can by paying close to $700. I asked her if based on the weather they could lower the rate so we can think about it. She said she will get back to me after speaking to her manager in just a bit. I told her we are going out for breakfast so please call me on my cellphone. This conversation was at 10am. I received no call till 3:30pm and we were walking back to the hotel when i called again to let them know that we might be a little delayed by 10-15 minutes and she told me to feel no pressure to walk fast since she understood it would be hard with so much snow outside. I asked her about the morning conversation with Mira and how she still hadnt reached out to me. She told me Mira had left and there was note on my account. She didnt bother getting back to me or calling me instead she decided to text me from her personal number and i had not see it since it was a random number. I saw it at 4 when we reached the hotel and told them it was highly unprofessional for her to not call me when she said she would and instead just sent me text message as if she was a friend and not an employee helping me out at your hotel. As disappointed as we were we decided to just check out because clearly paying for the extra night was not going to be worth anything based on our horrid one night stay. I still appreciated their not charging us for the horrid, stone cold food and the precautions they were taking for Covid. At checkout i mentioned what MIra had told me and it wasnt the most professional way of reaching out to me via text message from her personal number. Also the agent who checked me out confirmed Mira gave me the wrong information and she would correct her. Finally we left disheartened at our sad excuse for a first time stay at one of my favorite hotels in Seattle for which i cancelled my reservation at the W and Westin due my expectation of having a far better stay and experience at the Fairmont and the precautions i was told about. it was the worst stay in my 35 years of living and traveling. Let me tell you as much as i tried to convince myself and my husband that it wasnt that bad and the snow was the problem. But the more i thought about it the more i realized it was majorly due to a lack of training (wrong information given which was crucial to my making an informed decision) and poor planning for a snowstorm that was in the forecast a week to ten days in advance and there was a snowstorm advisory warning sent out as well. Why are you in the service industry and how are you surviving with this pathetic service? Also the fairmont is a place i have frequently visited previously for girls hi-tea and brunch dates. My experience was always exceptional and based on that i was convinced that i will have a good experience with my stay. You ruined my 3 weeks planning of making sure 5 people from the family drove over to take care of my three kids. You crushed my dream of celebrating our 10 year anniversary with a special getaway since we couldnt plan a trip due to Covid and having elderly parents in our house and the risks involved. Basically we were happy to be back home safely after this once in a lifetime horrid experience and a terrible excuse for a 'hotel' which was clearly not equipped to deal with some basic issues that arose due to the weather which they insisted they had prepared for and for staff that was poorly trained and didnt know the basics of room size, maximum guests allowed and gave me conflicting information. Finally all i want to know is who should i blame? I think its fair to say the higher management is to blame more than the agents, and that i need to be compensated and offered a deal worth coming back for, for ruining my 10 years of marriage celebration. Please tell me how you plan to make up for it. Liz, the manager who contacted me made me an offer which in my opinion is still not goof enough. Imagine this happened to you and you, please tell me what you would like to be compensated with. Im not asking for a refund if thats what you are thinking. I hope to get a call from someone higher than Liz to apologize and make me an offer worth coming back for otherwise i will have no choice but to share my horrid experience on social media to discourage people to ever go to the fairmont and i will never return to the georgian. Also as much as it hurts me to say this and im looking forward to being at the georgian once the renovation is done i feel you give me no reason to till you offer me a deal to make up for this, my health issue that the doctor confirmed was triggered due to the badly over fried fish and the tears i shed due to your hotel completely ruining my surprise for my husband for celebrating a milestone anniversary which i planned for, for weeks and was very special for us. This was also the first time we left 3 kids under 7 to stay overnight at a hotel. It took a lot of planning. i hope to hear from your higher up management and i expect an exceptional deal to make up for this. Thank you. Regards, Sarah H. I booked a night at the Fairmont for my husband's birthday, as we have been pent up at home and unable to celebrate. It was nice to have a change of scenery and we appreciated the safety precautions the hotel took. Staff was very nice as well. The one disappointment was that I specially requested a room with a bathtub-- we have a 5 year old who was super excited to soak in a "hotel tub," but the room didn't have one. We also ordered some fruit and coffee from the little coffee shop downstairs and the fruit was moldy. The guy working there was very nice and quickly got fresh fruit but there was a lot of back and forth and that food was overall not great. We have been considering coming back this weekend for Valentines Day but are a bit on the fence--given that most amenities aren't available and there was not tub for the little one, it seems a bit expensive for a night. Overall it was a nice change of pace to have a night in a hotel and we felt safe to come during pandemic. Hotel staff was super nice. But for a hotel of this caliber we felt slightly let down.
