I’m a regular visitor and usually the service is exceptional. However on this trip it took three calls, a physical visit to the reception and over an hour to get my bags delivered to my room. The other issue was placing a breakfast order at 8am for 9.15am to then get a call at 9.15 to say it would be 5-10mins late. Fine but then when it still hadn’t arrived at 9.50 I had to leave the room for meetings. I crossed paths with the gent delivering the meal who was honest that they had forgotten to place my order. The hotel seemed short staffed and struggling to match their usual standards. Some people wouldn’t say anything and never return, others who would find this as a first experience would be put off returning. I’ve been enough to know it’s unusual but it’s not something I would endure regularly.

The Savoy in London hits the perfect bullseye of old world glamour, refinement, comfort, friendliness, and joy. You have never seen a more beautiful lobby, or stayed in more comfortable or charming guest rooms. The staff is top notch because The Savoy does not hire just anyone. They are very committed to having amazing people that contribute to the positive and unparalleled atmosphere of the hotel, and will not bring in the wrong people. Our hats are off to you, Savoy, as this makes a huge difference to guest experience. Not a single ball was dropped on our last stay and we can be high-maintenance guests. This is a place I dream of returning to agin and again.

The Savoy experience starts the moment you book, before I even arrived at the hotel so many emails had been exchanged between myself and the guest services/reservations team about the surprise stay for my partners 50th birthday that I felt like thy knew us inside out. I gave an overview of all the things my partner loved … anything salted caramel, pina colada’s and dancing in the rain! I explained why we are celebrating and how important it was for me to make him feel special and what he does for a living which centres around protecting children. When we arrived I was expecting good service but what we recieved completely surpassed all of my expectations! We entered our large specially selected room to balloons, pina colada’s, a homemade chocolate block which was stunningly beautiful and filled with the most decadent salted caramel, a homemade strawberry pastry which was one of the nicest testes I’ve ever experienced and a specially written note from the Savoy team that mentioned all of the details about my partner that I had given over a series of emails spanning months. Not one detail was missed! The room, it’s little extra’s like the Savoy board game and turn down service in the evening when we returned from the pool area (which too was just beautiful) was all unexpected but added to quite simply the best stay I have ever had. We booked a table in the American Bar for the evening after returning from dinner and we were over 40mins late for our reservation, they were so busy that I was expected to be graciously turned away however this was not the case. I informed the host of our reservation and she was quick to greet us and wish my partner a happy birthday. She showed us to a perfectly positioned table and Jamie recommended us some cocktails. We went to the bar to watch them be expertly crafted and made conversation with all the waiters and bar staff. The pianist played some of our favourite music and we spent the last few hours of the evening sampling the fantastic cocktail menu, laughing and singing. The bed … now … where do I begin, this was an experience in itself, it basically cuddles you like a luxuriously upholstered cloud and breakfast was sensational. I couldn’t remember the name of our fantastic server but wow she was good! I complimented the pasties so was given an extra bakery basket! She had fantastic knowledge of some of the historical ‘Savoy’ dishes and offered an insight into life at this magical place. It was a relaxed and tantalising experience … the best way to wake up on a Sunday morning! I left the Thames Foyer very very full and feeling very glutinous! There was no rush to check out and once met at reception by Alice … (there’s nothing she doesn’t know about the Savoy … or exceptional service) and Shaun the famous face of the Savoy we had a lovely chat and a giggle before leaving our bags to be stored while we left for the day. I cannot wait to return, they really do make you feel at home and their attention to detail cannot be rivalled! My partner made an important comment … he said, “when you book somewhere like the Savoy, you expect it to be good but there’s still something you’d say could be improved or it didnt surpass your expectations, but that’s not the case with the Savoy. They are in the game of achieving absolute perfection and pull out all the stops to make sure they achieve that. Well, we recognize your hard work and relentless strive towards perfection and we 100% appreciated it! Thank you to all at the Savoy to a truly memorable experience! We will be back soon! Will never stay anywhere else in London now!

I felt the hotel had lost its character but the staff were re good.

We actually have plans to change the toiletries over the next few weeks, which should resole the difficulty of getting the lids off. We are sorry the quilt made sleep uncomfortable, in addition to the early morning noise. The housekeeping team would be more than happy to provide any type of bedding you prefer, at anytime time of the day or night; we want you to be comfortable. Your feedback has been noted and shared with the senior management team. Great service, you are made to feel at home by the very friendly and professional team. The Doormen welcome you with a smile and professionalism and are great ambassadors for the Hotel. Tony was very helpful as we left the next day as there was a movie being shot and he made sure we navigated the cameras etc and that our car was ready.
