From the moment we entered the Hotel until the morning we left we had nothing but excellent service. Considering the current situation with Covid-19 and government enforced restrictions placed on the hotel and guests we had a wonderful stay. Having stayed last year to celebrate my wife's "special birthday" expectations were set for this occasion. Needless to say we were not disappointed.

Room, location & staff were all very good. Not very generous tea/coffee provision in room considering we were staying two nights, we had to ask for more teabags (3 between 2 people!) We were VERY disappointed with the food ( not the staff though) in the squire restaurant. It certainly wasn’t anything like previous experiences in ‘Good’ hotels.

My son was enrolling on a Masters degree at St Andrews university and so we wanted to send him off in style. We dined in the restaurant on the first night and it was very disappointing. The meals were not as described (missing contents) were small and in my view quite expensive for what we received. We left a review as requested but did not hear anything, so I guess that you are not reading them. We ran out of toilet roll in the bathroom and tea bags in the room itself (small rations). We were told that the bed would not be changed due to Covid and we understood that. However we also had to request the towels to be changed also. That was also a little disappointing. We expected better.

From start to finish everything was great, no complaints. Hotel and room was lovely and clean. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We used the pool which was also lovely. Travelled with golfers who played both courses and used the clubhouse and they were also very happy.

Location is Fantastic. Staff were exceptional in these post lockdown times. We were so well looked after. Guy at front door was so helpful, fantastic memory and always very polite and interested. Thanks Guy. To be slightly critical. We had dinner one evening, staff and service was exceptional. We felt our main courses didn't quite live up to overall experience and cost. Breakfast was fantastic every morning. Full Scottish and also Salmon and Scrambled Egg 10/10. We loved our 3 night stay. Will definitely return.

We stayed for a night whilst dropping off at the University. From the outset the greeting was welcoming and the Covid procedures clearly explained and well thought through. We had an excellent dinner and breakfast next day. We did not use the spa this time due to time but it looks excellent.

The 2 night stay was lovely. The hotel had put in measures to be Covid safe which made us feel safe but did not distract from the pleasure of our break. The staff where helpful and friendly even while having to work in a slightly different way to protect is and themselves.

Stayed 2 nights for my anniversary. Travelled Edinburgh-st Andrews. I thought 4pm check in was late and left little time to experience a night so booked 2. Beautiful hotel and location. Bar service and breakfast was slow but they tried under the circumstances. Rudi from front desk is polite helpful and a credit to the company

Pretty good. Quite pricey, but perhaps to be expected having regard to the brand and the quality of the hotel. Breakfast good and the golf facilities excellent, although it was a shame the the short game area was closed.

The experience I had at the Fairmont was faultless from start to finish. Not only were the rooms exceptionally spacious and cosy but the staff were lovely. As soon as we arrived all of the covid related changes were explained to us and our temperature was taken which made me feel very safe and secure. They had introduced a text service to ask any questions during the stay and it was brilliant! I could make dinner and breakfast reservations and ask any questions I wanted from my phone. The grounds were beautiful and I could have stayed there for another week if it wasn't for work.

Service and quality at dinner and breakfast was very disappointing for a 5 star hotel, especially as when we had stayed with you 8 nights previously dinner, quality of food and ambiance is probably the best I have ever experienced. For the last 10 years we have stayed at The OLd Course hotel twice a year, Sunday 23rd August was our first time with you and would 100% stay again.......however after our stay on Monday 31st August I'm not so sure.

I have previously stayed at the St Andrews Fairmont with my family many times making the hotel a place of choice. For my 21st Birthday I was gifted a voucher to put towards a Spa Weekend. Because this was the first time I had booked I wanted to phone and talk to the staff directly, rather than go online. Each time I phoned, I spoke to a lovely member of staff. Though when I say each, I mean more into the young teens, as phone lines were busy or details would be taken and not phoned back or the line would be picked up and then hung up. All very frustrating. I tried to phone and book for the Spa, but it wasn't until I had checked in to a lovely room and about to go down in person, was I called back. So the relaxing weekend started off very stressed. However, this isn't to say the experience was a total flop. Although where it was expected, service let me down; in the unexpected situations - service was exceptional. For example, our Spa session (because, in my opinion, had taken so long to book - 7 separate calls and 3 redirects) was scheduled after check-out - the concierge, Alexander Merry, extended our check-out complementary. Or when, I wanted more pastries at breakfast, Callum Robertson, got me a second plate and a doggy bag of my favourites. This service would have increased the score if it wasn't for check out, when we were overcharged £80 after being asked directly if the Resort credit had been applied and the bill had been calculated correctly. As a result, we had to go back in after check-out to get this rectified, and the reason behind this overcharge was "bills are calculated at midnight," even though Spa was booked prior to this. Not what I would expect from a hotel of this prestige. Therefore, making this whole experience a hit or a miss.

Really enjoyable and COVID safe stay at the hotel, from initial greeting on arrival and then throughout stay. Spa facilities enjoyed by family, room clean and well maintained, food lovely, and overall hotel location and cleanliness first class. Would definately stay again.

Fairmont St Andrews have clearly taken the safety of their guests and staff during this pandemic very seriously. The measures that they have put in place were very reassuring and my husband and I were able to relax and enjoy our stay. Meeting safety requirements sadly meant losing many of the 'frills' that one associated with a stay at the Fairmont.
