Staying at the Fairmont Taghazout bay was one of the things I was really looking forward to since I've heard it was going to open in April. However, I was quite disappointed by the hotel. It all started on arrival to the property, I told the security that I had a reservation but he made me wait under the burning sun for a long time so that he can check with reception. Checking in, the receptionist Said was very polite and helpful, I was taken to the room which was at the other end of the hotel (while other rooms closer to reception are in place). I was extremely disappointed by the design of the room, it was very minimalistic with no thought invested in design, which does not reflect the the usual quality of high end hotel brands. No activities were on offer on the weekend apart from bicycles and surf. As for the food, it was good but not extraordinary. Overall, the stay was good but it is way too overpriced for what you actually get.

The staff is very friendly and takes care of everything. Here are a couple of recommendations - Add more drinking water to the room. 3 little bottles is not sufficient for coffee machine + tea + keeping hydrated. - Add the spa menu in the room as well as a number to call them. - Indicate on your website that "the commons" is closed - was expected to be able to eat traditional food for dinner. - Indicate that the fitness is closed as well. - On our arrival, we were not told what were the facilities, that we could rent surfboards, that there were sport arena, fitness, spa, bikes,... - I am picky eater, and I unfortunately I like changing the meals, such as for examples the octopus dish with haricots, there were no flexibility for changing in into another salad with the octopus, same for the pizza, no possibility of adding ham to the margarita. Some flexibility would be much appreciated.

The hotel, our suite and our view were absolutely beautiful. The personnel though very nice and friendly is clearly inexperienced. Every time we asked for something, they didn't know what to and had to ask someone else for answers. We ate dinner our first night there. The food was good. Unfortunately, my daughter spent the whole night being sick. I followed her the following day being sick all day. So basically we didn't enjoy any activities during our stay since we stayed in our room the whole time. The following day, the restaurant manager told my daughter that he was very sorry about what happened and that they were going to cancel the dinner bill. But on checkout, nothing was done. I didn't ask for a discount or anything but when a manager says he'll do something, I think he should keep his word. Don't set expectations that you can't keep, customers don't like that at all.

We selected the Fairmont based on brand reputation and were overall very impressed with the property, available services to guests and the quality of the service and attention we received. Walked on the beach in the moring and spent afternoon by the pools or taking advantage of other activities (surfing and horseback riding). Can't wait to go back!
