The lights in the room are complicated and don't make sense. The pillows on the bed are like rocks. The covers made me sweat like I never have before. The Do Not Disturb button isn't exactly obvious and I wasn't expecting to have housekeeping come literally rearrange all my things. That was disturbing. I kept forgetting that you have to use a key just to work the elevator so I was in there digging in my purse every time. Finally, there are zero feminine hygiene products -- or any way to get some withouy taking a $50 ride to a store -- on the premesis. Overall inconvenient and uncomfortable experience.

I booked an overnight stay because I had an evening event at CAA across the street. It was a splurge but worth it! Let's start with location: ideal if you have business at CAA. On a map, being across the street can be deceiving in LA where there are often no sidewalks (remember the song "Nobody Walks in LA"?) but in this case there is not only a crosswalk on the corner but a secret tunnel from the hotel to CAA, so there's no sun, wind or rain to ruffle your hair or clothes. Directly adjacent is a Westfield Shopping mall so you can shop and dine and see movies without having to drive anywhere. And then the hotel itself is elegant but fun: a rooftop pool, huge fitness center, luxe spa, wonderful French restaurant Lumiere with garden dining (breezy), open lobby with bar and food like cheeseburger pizza or potato chips with caviar. The room: private balcony with view, sitting area, double bathroom, a coffeemaker that was so fun I had way too much coffee, plush robes, fancy toiletries. Everywhere there are humorous nods to showbiz: the elevators are named Sonny and Cher, Lumiere refers to French cinema founders, the key folder said "Hey Chewie we're home" and the shower said "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." But what really made me feel like a star (I'm not) was the staff: the concierge Alden who told me about the secret tunnel and made sure I had both the NY Times and LA Times, the receptionist Isabel who brought my room key to me at Lumiere when I arrived and had lunch before my room was ready. I hope to come back again!

Food was supposed to be delivered to the pool and I didn't end up receiving it for 2 hours. No offer to comp at all.
