Good food for breakfast and dinner. Simple basic rooms, too much focus on appearance not enough on functionality.

Parking experience awful

The signage to the parking at this hotel is awful and Google maps takes you to the wrong end of a blocked off street. Some information about directions to the parking in the booking confirmation would of been useful, also letting you know it is not directly outside the hotel and you have to carry your luggage (would of brought wheeled suitcase rather than weekend bags). Parking is not included in the room rate which I was surprised by but what was worse was when we checked in it wasn’t mentioned that you had to enter your car reg on a screen and pay for it then. This was pretty poor and apparently I’m now going to get fined, which will be cancelled as I have paid but it’s another inconvenience to sort out. The room and hotel was clean and modern. The food and drinks were good (apart from one item on the kids menu was not as described). This hotel has a high rating from families on another website so I expected a bit more, such as small-child friendly crockery and cutlery which isn’t much for a hotel to provide (and potential saves glasses from being broken). Staff were friendly and helpful (apart from the person checking us in missing the parking). Breakfast was good with a range of fresh options. Overall the hotel was nice just our stay was spoiled at the beginning and end by parking. I’m not sure I’d bother staying here again with this hidden extra bumping up the cost and the inconvenience of carrying luggage.

In terms of charging for car park, this is marked on every website as chargeable. We are also inline with all our main competitors within the city. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. It was good, from reception to having breakfast in the morning the staff were polite and very helpful. The only downside I would say is there was no water in the room if there was I would have given a 10 rating.

Nice hotel with friendly and courteous staff. Room was rather dark due to a small window at each end of the window wall. No decaffeinated tea or coffee available. Unable to get subtitles on television.

We were upgraded for free for my girlfriends birthday which started the weekend off great and it just went up from there. Incredible staff, food, service, room and a wonderful atmosphere to be in! Will definitely stay again!

Satisfactory but could be much more

We stayed overnight with a toddler. The room was good and everything was satisfactory. We could have had more tissues and tea and milk considering we were supposed to be 4 star. Additionally there was a good breakfast and a nice bar area. However, for such a hotel as this I would expect a gym, business working area and a pool. The car parking arrangements were a nightmare as not attached to the hotel.

In relation to the tissues, tea, milk etc please do not be shy to ask our fantastic reception team for more. We cannot clutter a tea tray that is already full. We do also have a gym on the 5th floor which is clearly marked. We also have an area on the first floor that is used as a business area when not in exclusive use for many of the elite sports teams we host. Our car park is clearly sign posted by 13 brown tourism signs coming off every major route into the city. There is also a dedicated page on our website Novotelleiester.com. We had a really nice time at Novotel Leicester. The room was to an expected standard for a new 4-star hotel, though noisy banging from maintenance both mornings, including at 7am, was unwelcome. The bar and restuarant area is sleek and modern, with a good range of drinks, and a nice food menu- the locally sourced pie was top-notch! We were looked after really well by who I think was the head barman, forgot to ask his name but he was really knowledgable about local food and drinks and very friendly. checkout experience was poor, however. I was not asked about our stay at all. Then when I made a query about a Novotel promotion double points on the app when you dine in bar or restaurant ,the staff only knew nothing about it, havent heard about it ,even when I showed in the app just so I dont look like I just made up a promo. PS, I know its pandemic and all but I miss the lil touch of reading remarks or booking notes and being personable by asking upon Checkin atleast how are you or how was the trip did you come far something like that but yeah covid pandemic hits everything

1 of my bookings went astray, I then had to pay £130 more for a June Suite, which is only marginally bigger that a King room and certainly not value for money. The cleaner forgot to remove the false eyelashes from previous guest. Gross. Upon complaining to reception they said that the room should have been cleaned and they’d take it up with housekeeping. No real apology, no attempt to recover customer service. Cannot believe this still happens
