Embarrassing venue, good location

The floors were stained, relying upon patterned print to disguise the severity of staining. Dust and hair adorned the skirting area. The wall nearest the bed had oily hand and body prints on it which caught the light when sitting or laying in bed, these must have been fresh as they were still dripping down the wall, and hadn't been cleaned prior to arrival. The walls are paper thin. Some rooms have doors connecting then to another room, destroying any semblance of privacy you thought you may have. No thought was put into the location of our room, as we were situated above and across from a wedding party who were extremely noisy until 2.00am and then resumed their shouting at 6.00am. The 4hrs sleep ruined our experience. Breakfast was quiet, the selection of food was disappointing - toast and pastries were available but only bot jam or honey was offered to accompany it. The location is convenient.

The worst service I’ve ever experienced.

Worst stay I’ve ever had in an establishment, still awaiting even some contact from the hotel regarding a refund. Absolutely disgusting. Will never stay here again.

It was OK

The location was good. The state of the building not so good. The carpet in the hall ways looked liked it hadn't been hoovered in a while. Everything was a bit tatty. The WiFi was pretty much non existent. The photographs made the hotel out to look as good if not better than a Premier Inn. Sorry but the Premier Inn wins this time. There was 2 redeeming factors, the staff, who were friendly and helpful and the food,

Well located

Booked a suite with points, mattress was awful, next room (not a suite) stank of smoke, 3rd room (not a suite) ok but no heating. Promised points refund as reception staff did not know how to do it.

Myself and my partner stayed over the Christmas period, easy location for my daughter. The hotel room is nice. The place could do with a revamp but completely understand hospitality has suffered due to covid.

Well situated for studio tour.

Good, but a member of staff at the hotel processed the price of the stay incorrectly TWICE and so I’m still waiting for a refund of over £100 from Christmas Eve.

Well located hotel for visiting the Warner Brother Studio Tour. Check-in and out was easy and efficient. The bathroom in our room was nice, and bed was very comfortable. However, the window in our bedroom was extremely damp and mouldy, which was really disappointing.

Avoid…

Where to start? On arrival, Monday, the staff were refunding unhappy guests. Checked into my “suite” to find the heating not working and an electric heater in its place (not switched on so room was freezing). Mattress easily as old as I am, you could easily press through to the bed base, so requested room change to be told that was the only suite. Given key to next room whilst a couple were changing rooms because of cigarette smoke. Only to find I was sent up to the same part of the hotel, entire floor and room stank of smoke - windows open and also freezing. Back to reception for 3rd attempt, mattress not ancient, no smoke smell but still cold. By now was running late so forgot to ask for heater. Reception team assured me the booking, made with points, would be rectified as I’m now in a basic room and not the room probably issuing more guest refunds..!

Worst hotel I have stayed in

Rooms not enough room to swing a cat, eye makeup on pillowcases, only 1 hinge connected on wardrobe door so it didn't stay shut, no accessible entrance, unless you want to walk all the way round, although disabled parking is next to stairs to main entrance, I asked for accessible room as I cannot walk far, I didn't get it, I was ground floor though, but furthest away from restaurant and reception and no TV controls, cleaning alot to be desired and maintenance is, well there is no maintenance, heating controls came up with error, but on the plus side Breakfast was pretty good

Lengthy time at check in and check out. Restaurant closed so relocated to the bar. Round tables for two pushed together for three people to share was not ideal. Food was good overall. A pity that plates were cold for a hot breakfast buffet. Staff were friendly Our room was very small

Perfect location for harry potter. The room, was slightly run down. No plug where plug should be for the kettle. The walls were scuffed around the beds and wall damaged in one area. The bathroom was very nice and overall, all clean. Would stay again.

The hotel is advertised on the website leading you to believe it is the manor type building, beautiful and well kept. This is so far from the truth. The hotel is in need of so much modifying, the rooms are tiny, the place is dirty and the fact it is classed as a 4* hotel is e extremely misleading.

Great staff - rooms not up to scratch.

Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had requested a superior room to fit a travel Cot but on our arrival we had a room Not suitable but as there was no other rooms we made it work (wasn’t really an issue for us). The room was clean with the exception of sticky patches on the carpet. There was a lack of ventilation in the shower as the fan did not work which is leading to a damp room. When we returned in the evening the bedding felt damp and the floor also felt damp. We were here for a wedding and booked the night before to make it easier on the wedding day and thought we could all go swimming in the pool in the evening before - however with no mention on their website the pool was closed due to lessons until 19:00 and as we have a 1 1/2 year old it was her bed time - which was disappointing as had we known we might not have even stayed the first night as we only live 20 mins away so didn’t really need to stay. The changing room was also very dirty. The pool was warm but the area was very outdated and parts of the ceiling missing. The carpet was also rucked up in the corridor which led to our child tripping and hitting her face on an internal door and getting a fat lip (luckily on the first day and it had reduced by the time of the wedding). Considering it was a superior room the bed was small and I had to sleep with my legs hanging off the bed and I’m only 5 ft 8/9- you’d have thought a king size would have been in that room. The keycards to the room also keep wiping (kept away from phones) which is frustrating and this happened with many other guests. You also have automatic doors on the entrance to the hotel which are not working and are therefore very heavy to open without and could easily give someone an injury. The staff at the hotel and wedding were very attentive and should be praised for that. Given the choice and the proximity to our home I would not choose to stay here again.

On arrival at 7pm we got told the kitchen was closing even though I rang in the morning and was told would be open till 9pm so we had to have a 3 course meal delivered to our room which looked like leftovers and was not hot so we didn't eat much of it at all then the bed was filthy was very upsetting so we slept in a blanket me and my daughter had in bag the shower was scalding hot and could not get it to cool down breakfast was lovely and so we're the grounds I was very disappointed

It was well located for my business meeting the next day.

Despite calling ahead to confirm room would be ready for check in at 3pm. Unfortunately the sink didn't drain, there was faeces in the toilet - not ours! No coat hangers, lamp didn't work, bed was squeaky. Following day breakfast had a 45 min wait despite arriving at 9. For balance the grounds are stunning. Absolutely beautiful, just a shame that the room let down the experience which was set to be a birthday celebration

Average at best

The staff were pretty sparce and it took some time to get service at the bar after arrival. The rooms are very small and hard to navigate around plus the pillows are of particularly poor quality. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster, we arrived at 9am with barely in food left, no clean glasses or water and a broken down coffee machine. If it weren't for the Harry Potter studios being so close by I would have checked out and found an alternative.

Good location to Harry Potter

You do think by the pictures on website that your staying in the big hall. Was very nervous by the reviews on trip advisor. Our room fairly clean. The Curtain was coming off though and slightly difficult to close. Tv remote said Netflix was on the tv but we couldn’t get it to work. No back on the remote either not sure where that had gone to. Bed was clean. Bathroom clean unless you wanted to really nit pick. Think it’s just ready for a freshen up (room 7) Breakfast first morning 5* girl lovely food great. Second morning no one actually spoke to us or checked us in felt like anyone could of been in there paid or not. No glasses on the table. No toast no one to ask either. Girls in the bar both nights lovely. Nachos slightly questionable. Didnt taste great. Overall would probably stay again as we only used it as a base
