The worst service experience at the top floor Italian restaurant. Lots of staff but no-one seems to be working only playing … we sat there for drinks before dinner and sat there for over 30min before someone helped us. Be warned dinner service starts at 7pm and not one min before. This means they take your order at 7pm only. When checking whether the dressing for my salade niçoise could be served on the side, the bartender said I don’t think so, really?! but went to check in the kitchen with the chef. When he returned I overheard him saying that no one was in the kitchen yet at 6:50pm to check. Keep in mind that no one ever came to the table to take the order or confirm about the dressing served on the side. Finally at 7:20pm I went to the bar where 3 people stood to inquire if our order was actually placed having seen others get their food and not being sure if the order was actually placed. A waiter was fetched who rudely responded “on peut pas faire plus vite, la cuisine ouvre qu’à 7h”. The salade vegetarian that my wife ordered was completely different from the previous visit a week before. Lastly the coffees were extremely bitter. All throughout our visit only a handful of tables were there.

We stayed, as a family of 4, for a short, birthday celebration weekend with our children who are young adults, from a Friday night, to a Monday afternoon. We arrived late on Friday night/Saturday morning and first impressions were great as the hotel looked lovely. Then a rather surly man, Lionel, took our details for check in. The guy was not at all welcoming & requires a customer service refresher course. We were given room cards & told where the lift was. The rooms that we had reserved were larger than average & subsequently, more expensive, however, as the rooms were on the second floor, there was nothing to see but concrete, car parks, bins & cranes. Going back to the desk, we were told we could possibly move higher in the morning. We didn't bother to unpack. The next morning, we had a very good breakfast, with everything you would wish to choose from. The breakfast team were extremely courteous & we were treated very well. As we had early bookings for tours, we reminded the reception staff of our higher room request & they said that they would look into it on our return. Needless to say, when we came back, 'the hotel was full' & they were unable to accommodate us on a higher floor. We couldn't be bothered to unpack.. We were eating out that evening, but drinks at the rooftop bar on our return were great. The 8th floor bar is quirky, well fitted out with plenty of good seating, amazing views, a lovely selection of cocktails to choose from & excellent service from the bar staff. The Sunday, we were out all day & did not return to the hotel until 10 o'clock. We were exhausted so only had a quick drink at the bar & went to bed. My daughter, needs her airpods to sleep. She is 23 & not a child. On Sunday morning, she had put the airpods in their case & their charging wire in a handbag by the door. (I know! ..she should have used the safe, but we were in a rush to leave). On Sunday night, the wire was in the bag where she left it, but no airpods... So, at 11.30 at night, we took the room appart, searching everywhere, even taking the bedding off just in case she'd been mistaken about where they had been left for the day. In the morning, we approached the Manager, Fanny, who was extremely helpful & would look into who had had access to the room by checking the key card records. By now, we are due to be collected at lunchtime to catch the return train home. We went for a last walk. When we got back, Fanny phoned the room to say a member of the cleaning staff, who had been with them for a while, had had access to the room for 9 minutes. She was struggling to contact the member of staff. We were advised that without contacting the police, they were unable to assist us any further. With under 2 hours until you are due to leave for the station on the other side of town, would you bother the Paris constabulary for a pair of missing airpods? To replace them will be £200. The insurance excess eats up most of the cost. As a summary of our stay, the hotel, though expensive is beautifully fitted out with attention to detail in all the public areas. The bedrooms are fine with comfortable beds & hot showers, but do book a higher floor. The majority of the staff are very good. The breakfast was very good, though don't expect food & beverages to be served hot. The bar on the top floor was very good. Make sure you use the room safe, even for the most insignificant items.
The ground floor restaurant was a major disappointment!

After waiting 20 minutes for a drink, our orders were taken. While we had a large group of 12, the orders came out totally confused. Main courses were served before starters, the N numerous errors on delivered meals. It was embarrassing at best. The response from our servers was this was the best they could do! After spending 750 EU, I expected a much better dining experience. With all the great restaurants in Paris, Avoid this restaurant at all costs!!

So I went to Mama Shelter last night for dinner to meet up with my friends who were staying at the hotel. There was a very friendly security guy from what I noticed. He didn't speak English and he referred me to the other guy at the reception. I would say as someone who's had a tone of travel experiences, the guy at the reception wasn't very welcoming. I don't know if I didn't look like their average guests because afterwards I noticed he was quite friendly to those who came after me. However I had a great time with my friends and shall definitely visit the place again. It's such a lovely quite place given that's it's within Paris. Hope the reception guy will be more friendly next time and my tuna salad won't be as salty. It was a great experience overall. I feel they could do better. Happy holidays.
