« Worst experience I've ever had with Accor »

Old hotel, air conditioning wasn't working, really bad smell and poor trained employees. I can't believe that Accor allows such a bad hotel to use it's brand. I felt unrespected by Accor and Mercure, when we book a place like this, we espect a minimum standard and it was not the case.

« The hotel returned to be not what we expected »

We booked ocean view suite, and in fact almost only the view was flawless. The hotel met us with blocked main entrance due to some construction works in front of the hotel, which made noise all the days. Luckily, we tried to spend more time outside and did not hear it all the time. The hotel seems to be quite old, untidy and badly maintained, there were stains on the floor in the corridor, the door to our room was damaged, there were stains from the dampness on the walls of the room, the window would not lock. Room cleaning was bad: some stains on the floor were not cleaned from the day of our check-in until the day of our check-out, though we asked the reception personnel for it. In general, the reception personnel was not bad, breakfast was also good enough. But the rest of the things did not add points to our impression.

« Excelent location, breakfast and clean But hotel under refurbishment »

the hotel has a perfect location in the middle of copacabana. The breakfast is diverse enough and provides quality food. unfortunately, no investments have been made since it was taken over from Tulip Inn, therefore the lobby is currently under construction, a service elevator is attached to the building and workers are going up and down, common areas are quite shabby ( old elevators, carpeta worn down, all room windows do not insulate at all from exterior sounds). The hotel needs an overall overhaul as it is not up to Mercure standards.

« Troubled stay solved by the staff »

We booked on the Accor website a deluxe room with queen size bed and sea view for 2 nights. We arrived late (about 11pm) at the hotel. We have been given a room at the 3rd floor with trees completely blocking the view on the beach and sea. We went at the desk hardly complaining because of the blocking view (we payed the for “the sea view”). After long discussion we were given a 4th floor room (always with tree blocking the view of the sea and of the beach), a discount of 50 BRL (on the 500 BRL we paid for the room for the first night) and the assurance that we will be moved to an upper floor the next day for our 2nd night. We went to the room at the 4th floor (with tree view) and when we turn on the air conditioning water from the system flooded the room. No way to fix the system so we were moved again to the 3rd floor room (the one originally we were given). At 1 AM, after 2 hours of trouble we finally went exhausted to bed. The day after, in late afternoon, when we were back from visiting Rio, we were moved to a room at the 9th floor, finally with sea and beach view for our 2nd and last night in the hotel. Now about the hotel. It is quite old, not particularly clean. You have always to ask a 2nd set of bath towel. The room, apparently, in Brazil has only one by default (it happens also in other hotel). Breakfast is served at the ground floor. You can also have it outside. There is a standard selection of cold and hot food. The plus of the hotel is that is in front of Copacabana beach. You cross the street and you are on the beach. To summarize our stay: I think not acceptable the attitude of the hotel company (sell a room not corresponding to what is described) and all the troubles we got and what we have as compensation (10% discount on the rate for the first night). On the other hand the staff (Lucia the room manager , and Pedro at the desk) have been cooperative and tried to help us. We want to thank them for their helpfulness. So, the hotel is in a good area (many restaurant nearby), in front of the beach. When you book for a room with sea view be sure you have a room at higher floor.
