Nice hotel and good location. Very helpful and good staff. Two disappointments - The showers was very weak and only one small lift for the whole of the hotel!

The hairdryer didn't work - just heated the element but no air - potential fire hazard, was changed after I reported it (no PAT testing stickers). Unable to get any cold water from the tap. Order not taken for breakfast on the second morning; noticed staff kept delivering wrong food to tables, as I was going to work I couldn't wait and had to make do with cereal

A warm welcome received. Room not clean - hair in bedroom and bathroom. It was re-cleaned, but hair remained. Staff were excellent - the best customer service I have received and the food excellent too. Great location.

There is no brief description of my stay. You’ve recently been renovated and I think Bob the builder and his gang would of done a better job. It is bodged! You expect your customers to pay £100+ a night to stay in a dirty, unsafe, shoddy room where the tap leeks, the toilet seat wobbles, the towel rail hangs off, there’s mould on the ceiling, the shower door is broken, the water pressure is so bad you’d have to wait a day to have a bath (and there is more!!!) But what shocked us the most was how dirty the room was. I don’t need to tell you about covid, your procedures and everything you’ve had to put into place over the last year must of caused your company a lot of problems. However, this hotel fell short. It was filthy, all touch points would not have been sanitised and in all honesty I wanted to go home and it caused myself and my partner a lot of anxiety as we had travelled with our 5 month old son. Your staff could not of cared less. I appreciate we didn’t notice until gone 9:30pm (we checked in around 5:30pm and went straight out, we were not aware we needed to search the room for faults before going out!) but there was nothing they could do to help us. Your manager and extremely rude receptionist didn’t care at all! We had no choice but to stay in the dirty room overnight. In the morning we were moved rooms but it just wasn’t good enough. How dare your company make my family feel unsafe in an already scary situation that is covid. How dare your staff act so blasé about the fact we had gone away for the first time in 2 years and had our baby with us. How dare you make us want to pack our things up at 10pm and travel home. How dare you bodge a room together because you don’t think your customers deserve the best because they are only paying for the “cheap” room. Don’t even get me started on the disabled access to your hotel. (I was using due to the pushchair.) You have to go into the hotel to ask someone to turn on the outside lift….wheelchair users do travel alone, what would they do? When I asked this your rude receptionist simply shrugged at me. Shame on you Mercure.

We had to move rooms twice. One room smelt mouldy and the safe didn't work. Room 333 had no soundproofing and you could hear everything from the room upstairs, also shower was shocking. Hen do above us and noisy group of men booked in around us. No sleep for days. If we hadn't prepaid we would have left. Spoke to one twice receptionist who just didn't want to know. Thankfully a lovely receptionist took over who allowed us to move to room 233 which was so much better.

Cold shower. Coffee cup not compatible with coffee maker. Bed on wheels, head board on wall. Result you can’t sit up in bed.

Had to move suites within half an hour of arrival due to being located next to the stairs and having a loud family in the room above us. Wooden floors make these rooms so noisy. The suite we moved to then had a damaged front door and broken safe. The food is really poor for a 4 star hotel. We ate in The Kraken bar and the batter on the fish was half an inch thick and overcooked. Breakfast was average but the staff lack attention to detail. We had to ask for bread both mornings to use in the toaster as the tray was empty. The tray of pre-filled glasses of orange juice was empty. There was no butter for toast. The actual breakfast was below standard too. We were also sat in the far corner of the restaurant the first morning which was darker than a cave. Car parking is a nightmare. There is only one 2 Person lift for the entire hotel. As you can tell, we will not be returning to the hotel anytime soon. The pictures of the refurbished rooms look lovely on the booking websites, but in person are done to a low standard. The wooden floors look great, but unless you are on the top floor, make it a nightmare as you can here every footstep in the room above. It is the noisiest hotel I have ever visited.

Hotel well located, Beakfast poor both mornings sausage dry and over cooked sent back,poached eggs watery 1st morning 2nd morning scrambled egg aired and watery. Went to stay in restaurant for evening meal 2nd night , menu was the bar snack menu we had the previous lunch time. We walked out and went to the indian in the town.

Can’t fault the staff here. All very lovely and accommodating. Main hotel areas beautiful. Requested to move from first room as smelt damp and dirty. Second room okay. Swimming pool and spa area needs some updating. Felt more like a leisure centre than a spa. Very disappointing.

Very well presented with a comfortable and pleasant room. Staff always very friendly and courteous. The food was good, however we were not happy about having to ask for a dessert menu after waiting 40 minutes. We feel that the slowness of the service at the evening meal, appeared to be due to limited training of the staff.

Rooms ok. Spa tired but functional. Restaurant lacking in staff/service, no checking to see if we needed more drinks etc. Bar not 24hrs as we were told, it closed at 11. Hotel locked when we returned at midnight!! Man on duty laughed at us being looked out before letting us in.

A quiet room with a comfortable bed, spoilt by no cold water in the en-suite bathroom and some poor maintenance of the bath sealant. Room housekeeping inconsistent with reminders needed to reception regarding basic replenishment of toiletries, tea, sugar, and milk. Breakfast service and availability of basic items such as white bread, tea bags and sugar spoilt the actual quality of food. Staff struggled to understand breakfast orders despite them being spelt out clearly multiple times. We would not stay at this Hotel again!
